<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a semi-gasifier with an inclined grid consisting in particular of tubes for circulating water for steam boilers and their equivalents, comprising a hearth cap covering the space located above. above the grid.
The invention resides in the fact that the top of the hearth leaves above the loading end and above the end of combustion end of the grate passage openings for the gases and forms together with the secondary air intake arranged at the end of combustion end of the grate with a jet blower above this end.
It is advantageous in this case to form the sky which covers the grid of water tubes traversed by way of coolant by the water from the steam boiler intended to be heated by the grid.
The embodiment according to the invention of the semi-gasifier with inclined grate makes it possible to suck hot combustion gases from the combustion chamber of the boiler and to make them circulate, through the gas passage openings located at- above the loading end of the grill in the chamber between the firebox canopy and the fuel layer on the grill. The hot combustion gases after passing through the openings above the charging end of the grate serve primarily 9. to dry the fresh fuel.
Continuing to circulate above the layer of fuel towards the end of combustion end of the grate, these burnt gases then mix with the low temperature carbonization gases which emerge from the fuel in the carbonization zone of the grate. grate and, mixed with them, are blown by the secondary air expelled from the air supply device at the end of combustion end of the grate into the combustion chamber of the steam boiler to subsequent combustion. It is then particularly advantageous to pass the carbonization gases from the carbonization zone of the grid over the entire incandescent layer placed on the grid.
This contributes to the cracking of the heavy hydrocarbons which are abundantly contained in the carbonization gases at low temperature and whose combustion is therefore considerably improved.
As a grate constructed according to the invention can be made to operate under very high loads, the inclination of the grate is chosen such that the fuel sloped onto the grate is still under a layer of sufficient thickness at the end. end of combustion of the grate. This thickness of the layer of fuel still existing at the end of the grate effectively prevents damage to the grate by fire. To constitute this head thickness of the layer, the inclined grate is closed at its end of combustion end by an oscillating barrier grate.
Another improvement of the semi-gasifier with inclined grate, according to the invention, resides in the fact that the inclined grate is transformed at its end of combustion into a secondary sky turning backwards under the grate to cover. a mobile grate serving as a final combustion grate established as a substructure in the known manner over the entire length of the inclined grate, this movable grate taking up the fuel which is consumed at the end of combustion end of the inclined grate and sending it in view of its complete combustion or residual combustion in the direction of the loading end of the inclined grate.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It is thus possible to assign the fuel released at the inclined grate a greater path to ensure its combustion without resulting in an increase in the total length of the hearth. For fuels which do not require a long run to burn completely the length of the construction can also be reduced considerably, since the grate area essential for the complete combustion of the fuel can be easily established under the inclined grate.
As a result of the covering of the complete combustion grate, the combustion gases which are released from the fuel discharged onto it by the inclined grate are drawn into the charging end of the complete combustion grate by the jet blower. or the injector established above the end of combustion end of the inclined grate and sent together with the gases evolved from the fuel situated on the inclined grate, with a view to their subsequent combustion in the combustion chamber of the boiler to steam placed at the top. So that this aspiration can be done with all efficiency, one gives to the hearth of hearth located above the complete combustion grate a certain inclination towards the end of discharge of this latter.
It is advantageous to form the sky above the complete combustion grate by means of water circulation tubes which are connected to the water circulation tubes of the inclined grate. In order to be able to properly regulate the combustion or the release of carbonization gases on the inclined grate according to the nature of the fuel loaded on it, the combustion air is admitted there in an adjustable manner by several superimposed zones, the combustion air brought by one or the other of these zones which can be more or less preheated.
Depending on the fuel used, it may be advantageous to mix directly with the combustion gases of the combustion grate complete the carbonisation gases given off on the inclined grate, to then send this gas mixture, by the jet blower or the injector formed by the admission of secondary air into the combustion chamber of the steam boiler to effect combustion. For this purpose, the inclined grate as well as the complete combustion grate established below, with its hearth sky, are constructed so as to provide on each of their sides a free space between the side walls of the hearth chamber. . This ensures a lateral evacuation of the combustion gases from the complete combustion grate to the inclined grate.
The sky which covers the latter extends in this case from one side wall to the other of the hearth chamber.
In special cases, when the fuel discharged at the end of combustion end of the inclined grate on the substructured movable grate serving as a grate for the completion of combustion no longer contains sufficient combustible particles but may still release a sufficient quantity. of combustion gas on the complete combustion grate, or if this quantity of gas still needs to be increased, it is advantageous to provide an installation above the charging end of the complete combustion grate for charging of additional fuel on the surface of this complete combustion grate.
The invention is shown by way of example in a simplified form in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a median longitudinal section of the inclined grid.
Fig. 2 is a median longitudinal section of the inclined grate with the complete combustion grate established below and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 3 is a section on line II-II of Fig.2 of an embodiment of the fireplace, the combustion grate and the inclined grate are arranged at a certain distance from the side walls of the fireplace chamber.
The inclined grid, established for example in the form of a ladder, is formed of horizontal tubes 1, which are interconnected in the manner of rungs by lateral tubes arranged at the desired inclination.
The tubular system of the grid established in this way is traversed by a refrigerant, for example water from a steam boiler, the heating of which must be provided by the grid. The grid tubes 1 are provided on their upper face with fins 2 which form the surface of the grid. Between the free edges of the fins 2 and the adjacent tubes 1, intervals are provided for the passage of the combustion air (primary air). The fresh fuel coming out of the loading hopper 3 is sent via a reciprocating pusher or its equivalent on the loading end of the inclined grate and then slides up and down on the surface thereof formed by the fins 2.
At the end of combustion end of the inclined grate the fuel which is consumed there falls on the loading end of the mechanical grate or movable grate 13 serving as a complete combustion grate or completion of combustion. The movable grate 13 is established in a known manner as the inclined grate over the entire length thereof and the fuel at the end of combustion at the end of the inclined grate falls onto the loading end of this movable grate 13 serving as complete combustion grate or residual combustion.
Above the inclined grate is at the desired distance from its surface the hearth cap 6 which covers this surface from the loading end to the end of combustion end and separates the hearth chamber, at its upper part, of the combustion chamber 7, of a steam boiler established above the inclined grate. The hearth sky 6 consists of tubes 8 which are connected to the water circulation circuit of the boiler. Above the loading end and above the end of combustion end of the inclined grate, the roof 6 is provided with openings for gas passages 9 and 10.
The passage openings, for example those situated above the loading end of the grid, can furthermore consist of gaps formed between the tubes which are obtained by bending suitably with respect to each other. others the tubes which garnish or form the sky 6 (fig.l).
The inclined grate is converted at its end of combustion end into a hearth sky 14 which returns under the inclined grate and covers the underlying mobile grate 13 at the upper part thereof.
The sky 14 is formed by the water tubes 15 which are connected to the water circulation tubes of the inclined grate and extend along the sky 14 sloping towards the combustion completion end. or outlet of the mobile grid 13 (fig. 2).
At the end of combustion end of the inclined grate and preferably above the barrier grate 5 is the mouth of the secondary air supply device 11. This mouth is directed in such a way that the jet of the outgoing secondary air, together with the gas passage openings 10, forms a jet blower or an injector so that it is created in the chamber 12 located between the cap 6 and the surface of the grid or the layer of fuel on it a depression which has the effect of causing the introduction of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
combustion of the combustion chamber 7 of the boiler superstructure into chamber 12 and the delivery of these combustion gases together with the carbonisation gases released from the fuel in this chamber to the end of combustion end of
the inclined grid. These gases are then sent by the secondary air jet into the combustion chamber 7 and burnt in the latter (fig.1) at the same time as the mixing with the secondary air takes place.
The jet blower also produces a vacuum in the space 16 between the canopy 14 and the upper surface of the movable grille 13. The combustion gases are thus drawn from the space 16 towards the loading end of the. mobile grid 13. These gases are then sent together with the gases displaced by means of the secondary air jet through the chamber 12 into the combustion chamber 7 where they are mixed with each other and with the secondary air and burnt ( fig. 2).
In the special embodiment shown in figo3, the inclined grid as well as the movable grid established below it and also the sky 14 are arranged so as to leave on their sides, between the side walls 16 of the hearth chamber on the one hand and the sky 14 and the inclined grate on the other hand, a free space which serves for the lateral passage of the combustion gases sucked from the mobile grate 13 towards the inclined grate. The sky 6 which covers the inclined grille extends from one side wall to the other side wall of the fireplace chamber.
The combustion air (primary air) for the inclined grille is brought to the latter by the zones 17. The latter are superimposed in the space between the ceiling 14 and the inclined grille. The air intake for the fuel remaining on the mobile grid 13 is done in the usual way by one or more boxes or vento boxes.
Above the loading end of the mobile grid 13 is arranged an installation 18, for example a loading hopper or its equivalent for supplying additional fuel to the surface of the mobile grid 13.
The path traveled by the gas is indicated by arrows in the drawing.
