<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

During the so-called coal felling in the veins with steep to medium slopes, the roof is currently supported by the props and these props carry installations serving to separate the blasted coal and the backfill material which follows. Therefore the slaughter must be carried out by minors. However, the latter are exposed to danger due to the falling coal, so that in the Ruhr coal mines, for example, half of the fatal accidents can be attributed to this cause.
The invention aims at improving the support allowing the felling to be carried out in a purely mechanical manner without the miners having to stand in the waist.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, the support is made up of a hollow body which can be extended in the direction of its diameter, by internal pressure and whose mantle faces are placed between the roof and the ground and which separates the material felled and backfill material. Preferably, this hollow body has an annular cross section. It consists of sections with a length of, for example 1.5 to 3 m which are placed immediately next to each other.
The inner tube of these longitudinal hollow bodies can be formed by a tube of a more solid material, for example a metal tube.
The means providing the internal pressure and the expansion of the hollow bodies is advantageously formed by compressed air. The chamber of the hollow body which is to be filled with the expansion means is preferably divided by intermediate walls. As a result, on the one hand, a reinforcement of the hollow body is obtained and, on the other hand, a guarantee that the support is not destroyed when the hollow body is damaged. When the subdivision is sufficient, it is generally possible to obtain that the hollow body continues to perform its functions.
One embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which!
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a stiff vein to be broken down.
Fig. 2 is, on a larger scale, a section along line II-II of f ig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section through another embodiment of the hollow body,
The vertical coal seam 1 is cut down to the height a, for example 10 m. Between the roof 2 and the ground 3 is clamped a hollow body 4, according to the invention, which separates the waist 5 from which the vein 1 is cut down from the space 6 which is filled with backfill 7. Above the waist 5 is a track 8 serving for the supply of the backfill, while under size 5 is a track 9 serving for the evacuation of the extracted coal.
The hollow body, which can be considered as a barrier cylinder, consists of an inner tube 4a of a considerably less elastic material, for example metal (in certain cases it is however advantageous not to choose an absolutely rigid tube, but a flexible tube which can more easily adapt to the irregularities of the ground, for example a tube in a deformable synthetic material or a sufficiently stable metal pipe),
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and by an annular hollow body 4b, surrounding the tube 4a and made of an elastic material such as rubber or a suitable synthetic material and which is subdivided, by radial ribs 4c, into chambers 4d which are filled with compressed air /
When the barrier cylinder is designed as a hollow cylinder,
the advantage is obtained that the inner hollow chamber which, in the embodiment shown, is formed by the tube 4a, can serve as ventilation and, optionally, as a means of escape.
As the felling progresses in the direction of arrow A, the barrier cylinder can be released easily by releasing the internal pressure and, after its advancement in the direction of arrow A, it can again be released. be firmly installed by increasing the internal pressure. The length of the barrier cylinder can be adapted at any time to the length of the tail. As a general rule, however, with the steep slope arrangement shown, one will work with shorter sizes, for example sizes with a length of 10 to 20 m which allow impeccable observation of the extraction process and the behavior of the terrain. .
Depending on requirements, the barrier cylinder can have very varied shapes. For example, in order to obtain a maximum guarantee against collapse during damage and, at the same time, the possibility of an easy voluntary modification of the diameter, it is possible to constitute the cylinder by several hollow bodies. concentric, as shown in FIG. 3; in this particular case, both the outer hollow chambers 4e and the inner hollow chambers 4f are connected to the base of the cylinder, however the hollow chambers 4f are jointly inflated.
Therefore, by evacuating the air from the chambers 4f, the diameter of the whole cylinder can be sufficiently reduced so that it can follow the progress of the slaughter and, by inflating these chambers again if the cylinder can be. again firmly tightened against. the roof and the ground.
