<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to a suspension device for motor vehicles, the wheels of which are each coupled to the chassis of the vehicle, by at least one transverse connecting rod, and the axis of the pin of the axial arm is located - with the path traveled by the spring suspension approximately on a surface which, when viewed from the side, slopes towards the rear end of the vehicle and forms an acute angle with the vertical surface.
The object of the invention is to spare the chassis as much as possible shocks, for the. Most inclined, caused by unevenness of the track and obtain in addition to a vertical suspension, a suspension in the horizontal direction.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the known modes of arrangement inclined with respect to the vertical surface, of the spring and of the axial arm pin, this is a measure intended to obtain the desired advance.
The surface formed by the path traveled by the spring and by the axis of the pin of the axial arm passes through the axis of the journal and depending on the advance, it is inclined by approximately 2 with respect to the rear end of the vehicle. This arrangement essentially gives only a suspension of the wheels in the vertical direction, since the suspension springs, because of the low inclined position, can exert only an insignificant suspension effect in the horizontal direction.
In addition to the vertical suspension, a horizontal suspension has also been obtained, by the fact that the transverse connecting rods are suspended by a cardan suspension and are each coupled to a spring element in both vertical and vertical direction. in a horizontal direction. Such a suspension is, however, relatively expensive.
According to the present invention, the above problem is solved in the simplest manner by the fact that the angle of inclination of the surface formed by the path traversed by the suspension spring and the axis of the axial arm is about 5 to 15, and this surface passes some distance behind the journal ,. representing the desired advance. Thanks to the inclined position mentioned above, it is possible to obtain sufficiently, by means of the same suspension spring, the horizontal suspension and the vertical suspension simultaneously, which are coupled together. The advance is however maintained simultaneously by the rearward displacement of the value of the desired inclined surface.
According to the present invention, the transverse connecting rods are arranged in the manner of a frame, in a mosile manner on all sides, and in the direction of the forward movement of the vehicle, each resting elastically, by means of a push bar and an elastic element independent of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
suspension spring, against the chassis of the vehicle, and in this arrangement the aforesaid elastic member preferably consists of a rubber buffer known per se. Thanks to this measure, it is possible to obtain not only the horizontal and vertical coupled suspension, but also an independent horizontal suspension.
The tilted position can be maintained between limits between
5 and 15 and further, the independent horizontal suspension can be made weaker without taking into account the suspension springs.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a transverse leaf spring is also used, known per se, which directly grips the axial arm. This spring is compressed additionally during the horizontal displacement of the wheels.
The invention will now be described with reference to an embodiment illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings. In these drawings,
Figure 1 is a side view of the suspension of a front wheel,
Figure 2 is a section taken along the line II-IJ of Figure 1, and
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section along the line III-III of Figure 2.
The two front wheels 2, of which only the right wheel has been shown in the drawings, are suspended from the frame 1 by means of the leaf spring 3 arranged in an inclined manner and the transverse links 4, 4 '.
The spring 3 is fixed higher, above the frame 1 by nuts 5. At the outer end of this spring is suspended a fork 6 which carries the arm 7 by means of the bolt 10. The arm 7 has the journal 8 for front wheel 2
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and tilts therewith in the usual manner via the tie rod As can be seen from figure 1, the axial line
14 of the bolt 10 or of the arm 7 is disposed with the path traversed by the leaf spring 3 in a surface which is inclined at an angle 12 towards the rear with respect to the vertical 11.
In order not to leave an excessively large advance 13, the common surface of the path traveled by the spring and the bolt 10 at the height of the journal 8 is moved by the distance 15 towards the rear and thus crosses the journal 8.
The transverse connecting rod consists of two profiled pieces, 4 and 4 'which are placed in the manner of a frame in the bearing 16 by means of a rubber block 17. The connection between the rubber block 17 and the transverse connecting rod 4 , 4 'is obtained by means of two bearing elements 26 and 27 and a nut 28. The bolt 10 is surrounded at the bottom by a bearing element 18 and is connected so as to be able to turn with the transverse connecting rods 4 , 4 ', by means of a bolt 19.
Thanks to the elastic construction of the slow-framed bearing 16, 17, not only is there a possibility of vertical movement for the connecting rods 4, but this bearing can also be tilted by a certain distance in the orizontal direction, and for this, the rubber buffer 17 serves simultaneously as an elastic guide towards the rear and as a shock absorber. In horizontal direc-.ion the connecting rod 4, 4 'is supported by a bar 20 against the chassis 1 of the vehicle. This bar 20 is articulated on one side with the connecting rod 4, 4 ', by the bearing 21 and on the other hand this lever 20 is supported on the frame 1 by a @@ nière 22.
On both sides of the angle bar 22 folded upwards, there are rubber buffers 23 and 24.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
which absorb shocks in both directions in a similar way. The pad 21 is made elastic also by means of a rubber sleeve 25.
The invention is in no way limited to the embodiment illustrated, since it is possible to imagine without difficulty the use, for example, instead of the inclined leaf spring 3, of a helical spring; a second connecting rod is then necessary, connected with the fork 6 by means of a ball bearing.
