<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a hammer mill comprising a housing with a closed crushing path and impact members housed therein and rotatable. a shaft, this housing being provided, at one of its end walls, with an inlet for the material to be ground and, at its opposite end wall, with an outlet for the ground material , and the shock elements being arranged

in one or more rows.
Such hammer mills are already known from German Patent No. 658,440. During their use, a cushion of ground material forms, in which the ground material is placed, which means that the parts of the material remaining to be ground have less chance of being hit by the impact elements. .
The invention is based on the need to increase the power of known hammer mills. This can be achieved by preventing the formation of a cushion of crushed material.
According to the invention, the faces of the hammers of the impact elements and, optionally, each row of impact elements form an acute angle with the axis of rotation thereof, and the faces of the hammers are seen. in their direction of rotation - facing towards the outlet opening of the housing.
When the hammer mill object of the invention is employed, a speed component directed towards the outlet opening is given to the parts of the material which reach the faces of the hammers. The broken or crushed material is then forced to this opening and discharged through it, as quickly as possible. After that, the discharged material, separated from the material which is already fine enough, is returned to the hammer mill. This process is repeated until the material has reached the desired fineness.
According to German Patent No. 70,414, hammer mills are already known, the hammer faces of which form an acute angle with the axis of rotation. Known grinders consist in the main order of a container, the lower part of which forms the grinding chamber and the upper part the collecting chamber. In the grinding chamber there are two rotors with shock elements, twisting the shafts. s.e find

is brought into the top container. The side walls of the container have, at the level of the rotors, openings through which air. is blown.
When the material has become sufficiently fine, its particles are entrained by the air and discharged to the upper side of the container.
The impact elements of the arterial crusher which is the subject of the German patent have the disadvantage of accelerating the crushing effect by increasing the impact force of the faces of the hammers on the parts of the material. The fronts of the hammers of one of the sets of impact elements drive the parts of the material towards the hammer faces of the other set. The object of the invention is, on the contrary, to enable the material is driven as quickly as possible towards the outlet opening.
To better understand the invention, reference will be made to the description given below and to the accompanying drawing, which shows schematically, in axial section and by way of example, an embodiment of a hammer mill according to the invention.
1 denotes a cylindrical housing, with a closed grinding path, in which is provided a rotor 2, carrying, fixed therein, shock elements 3. The rotor 2 can rotate on a @ shaft 4. In addition, one of the end walls of the housing 1 is provided with a feed 5, while the other end wall, opposite, is provided with an exit 6. Through the feed 5 and the exit 6 passes as much material - on the one hand to be ground, .on the other hand ground - that of air or other agent in the form of a current.
As shown in the drawing, the surfaces 7 of the hammers of the impact elements form an acute angle with the axis of rotation thereof and they are seen in the direction of rotation which, seen from the right in the drawing, opposite to that of the needles of a clock - facing.the outlet opening 6 of the housing 1. The parts of material introduced into the housing 1 by
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the feed 5 are broken and possibly crushed by the rotating shock elements 3. The broken parts are at the same time forced out towards the exit 6. The crushed material which is rather fine is carried away by the current of air. The material which has been introduced through the inlet 5 into the housing 1 is therefore in this way discharged as quickly as possible through the outlet 6.
Then the discharged material arrives at a sieve, not shown, and the coarse parts retained by this are returned to the hammer mill. This process is repeated until the material has reached the desired fineness. The impact elements 3 of the device shown in the drawing are arranged in rows which, like the hammer faces 7, each form an acute angle with the axis of rotation of the impact elements.
But these rows can also be parallel to the aforementioned axis of rotation.
