<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

There are three-pipe concentrated heat exchangers, in which one medium is conducted through the inner shell space and the other medium is reverse flowed to it through both the outer shell space. only by the interior space of the central-full pipe or also annularly narrowed by means of a -core. Due to the small width of the annular cross sections of the stream, this is generally a heat change by contact.
on the other hand, for the use of gaseous agents in particular, at very high temperature, heat exchangers have been employed for some time in which the heating of the pipes serving to guide the heat-absorbing agent, by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
air, for example, is effected by radiation. In this vein, the heating surface was subdivided into a large number of relatively narrow pipes and tied. this group of pipes by the two ends to the distribution and accumulation boxes annularly around a vertical corridor, through which the heating gases are conducted.
The tube bundle is surrounded by a masonry corridor wall, which is also heated by the radiation of the gases and reflects this heat inwards on the tube bundle, but will not give off as much heat to the outside as possible. ; it must therefore be isolated accordingly ...
The object of the invention is to simplify such a radiant heat exchanger, for this purpose various d @ls known in the contact heat exchangers mentioned above are used; this invention consists in the fact that, for the heat-absorbing agent, for example air, there is arranged, for heating, at least one annular space formed by two envelopes and, inside these envelopes , a heating surface essentially heated by radiation and annularly surrounding a; .couloir, in the form of a tube bundle or a complementary sheet metal casing.
For the distribution and accumulation of the heat absorbing agent two annular chambers or pipes have been arranged at one end, preferably at the lower end, of the exchanger.
The object of the invention is represented, by way of example, in the drawings, by two embodiments.
In the first embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the heat exchanger consists essentially of two cylindrical and concentric 1,2 envelopes, with respect to one another; a tube bundle 3 also arranged annularly inside these 'envelopes and two annular chambers 4,5 with connecting pipes 6 or 2 ad hoc for the introduction and distribution of air or the like for heating.

iron and for the accumulation and evacuation of heated air.
To compensate for the longitudinal expansions of the tube bundle, the two annular chambers 4,5 are connected together by pressure springs' not shown, so that the upper chamber 4 can, with the sheet metal casings 1, 2 be removed. of the lower chamber 5 and that the ± pipes are still under a certain tensile tension.
The upper and lower ends of the exchanger are preferably connected channels 8 2 walled for the fine and evacuation of heating gases.
The operation of such an exchanger takes place in such a way that the air to be heated or another gaseous agent arrives, through the inlet tube 6 and the annular chamber, into the intermediate space of the two cylindrical envelopes. 1, 2, el there during simultaneous heating, then passes through the tubular beam 3 from top to bottom; is then heated essentially by the radiation of heat from the gases passing from the bottom upwards through the interior space, for example gases burnt from a furnace. The heated air then passes to the lower end of the tube bundle.
3 in the accumulation chamber 5 and is evacuated by the tubulureµ .de connection 7 thereof.
In the second embodiment according to FIG. 3, there is provided, inside, of the two sheet metal envelopes 1, 2 in place of the tube bundle, a third cylindrical sheet metal envelope 10 which serves as a heating surface exposed to the radiation of the tubes. gas and which, together with the middle envelope.2 forms a second annular space.
Through the internal annular space, the air to be heated, after a certain heating in the external annular space through which the air passes upwards, is returned downwards in the direction opposite to it and to the gas flow in the interior space.
The central sheet metal casing and the outer sheet metal casing, respectively 10 and 1, are connected to each other at the end
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
upper by an expansion compensator known per se in the form of an annular shaft 11, so that the radiation-heated casing 10 can expand independently of the other two casings in the longitudinal direction. '
As a special advantage of such a construction, mention may be made of the elimination of thermal insulation of the exchanger towards the outside, an elimination made possible by the relatively low temperature of the air in the annular space between the two cylindrical shells. exterior 1, 2; this thermal insulation had been provided in analogous cases' with masonry of a corridor containing the heating surface.
If necessary there may also be more sheet metal envelopes arranged one inside the other, -by which are then formed) two or more annular spaces placed one behind the other for the 're sharpening. air or the like. The arrangement of the ubular bundle 3 or the shape of the central envelope 10 to be provided instead, of the latter must, moreover, not be absolutely circular eh.question heating surfaces can also delimit, for example, pdygonally, the passage of gas.
