<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Device for handling powdery or granular bodies.
The present invention relates to a device for handling powdery or granular bodies implementing the fluidization of the body to be transported by emulsifying said body in a fluid,
According to the invention, the device comprises a hopper with a conical shape, provided near the top of the cone with at least one axial tube, the wall of which is porous or provided with
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
fine orifices at least in the vicinity of said top, a flow orifice being provided in the vicinity of the blind end of said porous tube, this orifice being surrounded by a pump which delivers a transport fluid into an evacuation pipe,
the hopper being further sealed and provided with an inlet tube for pressurized fluid above the product to be transported.
Such a device, which uses three streams of fluid under substantially equal pressures, allows easy handling, at low pressure, of all pulverulent or granular bodies. This device can be used as a fixed-station handling member, for lifting, pouring or similar operation; it can also be used and advantageously as a transport member by mounting on a vehicle. In the latter case, it allows better use of the vehicle by increasing its rotation capacity since the unloading times can be considerably reduced. On a heat engine vehicle, the pressurized fluid used for handling may advantageously consist of the exhaust gas from this heat engine.
The description which will follow, with reference to the accompanying drawing by way of non-limiting example, will make it possible to understand clearly how the invention is put into practice.
The single figure shows in schematic section an embodiment of the handling device according to the invention,
The handling device consists of a cylindrical reserve 1 of the desired height surmounted by a dome 2, at the top of which appears a loading opening 3 capable of being closed by a sealed door 4.
The reserve 1 is connected to a conical-looking hopper body. The assembly is supported by feet 6 solidly connected to the hopper 5 and fixed to the side members 7 of a vehicle frame, for example.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The vicinity of the top of .The hopper 5 is shaped as a short cylindrical duct 8 in the center of which is disposed a tubular duct 9. The duct 9 is blind and slightly exceeds the lower edge of the duct 8. This duct 9 is bent and has a horizontal branch 10 which passes through the wall 1 radially. The wall of the duct 9, in the vicinity of the bottom of the hopper and, where appropriate, in the duct 8, has a series of perforations 11 which make it porous. Of course, the wall of the duct 9 could be constituted, at this privileged location, by a porous material by itself.
On the outside of the hopper 5 and concentrically with the duct 8 is fixed a flange 12 ,, On this flange, is connected a counter-flange 13 at the end of a distribution pipe 14.
The enveloping part of this tubing 14 arranged around the pipe 8 receives the taping of a pipe 15: This taping opens into a chamber 16 'which surrounds the pipe 8 and this chamber comes to an end, near the end edge of the pipe. pipe 8, by a flange 17. The small clearance remaining between the flange 17 and the pipe 8 determines the birth of a tubular fluid drive web.
In addition, the base of the wall 1 is crossed by an oblique and ascending pipe 18, the outlet of which, inside the enclosure 1, is located in the immediate vicinity of the wall of the dome 2, as close as possible to the point the highest of this @ dome. Of course, this orifice is located on the side of the opening 3, in order to prevent the line 18 from being blocked by the material spilled during the loading of the. Reserve.
The porosity of the sound system 11 of the pipe 9, the section of the reserve 1 and the clearance left between the pipe 8 and the flange 17, are determined in such a way that the flow out of or the apparatus of the fluidized powdery / granular material is correct, when applied to. Line 18, to line 15
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and in line 9 an equal pressure for the driving fluid which is the same moreover as that which is used for the fluidization and that which is used for the pressurization above the layer of product contained in the reserve. During this flow, the conduits 18, 15 and 9 are advantageously connected to a single source of compressed air at relatively low pressure.
The air arriving through line 18 applies downward vertical compression to the stored product. The air from the pipe 9, in line with the zone 11, thins the pulverulent body such as cement. The fluidized cement is taken up and ejected at high speed by the veil of gaseous fluid which exits between the pipe 8 and the flange 17. Under these conditions, the cement is transported by the pipe 14, in a manner analogous to a liquid,
In certain particular cases, requiring a very regular flow of cement, it may be useful to increase the number of porous -cubes which could be placed inside the hopper.
These blind auxiliary conduits 9a, with porous ends, can be lying on the surface of the hopper and distributed, for example, in a star shape according to equidistant generatrices. They are joined to an annular distribution manifold 9b, provided with a valve, not shown, which valve can be opened in a regulated manner, on demand. It is also possible to provide on each of the gas distribution conduits, valves or adjustable regulators, if necessary.
This device can naturally be used at a fixed position, mounted on a motor truck or else transported by rail or by boat, or even by plane. In the event that a sufficiently powerful heat engine is available either on the truck, on the wagon or on the plane, the air supply to the pipes 9, 15 and 18 can be replaced by a supply connected to the air supply. exhaust of said heat engine. In the other cases, it is sufficient to have a site compressor of the most common type, In practice, for a reserve with a diameter of 2.20 meters, a height of about 1.20 meters ,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
surmounting a conical hopper whose height is approximately 1 meter for the distribution of a cement, the pressure used is approximately 3.5 hpz.
It should also be noted that the control of the distribution can be ensured in an automatic manner only by the control of the flow rate of the pressurized gas.
- It goes without saying that, without departing from the scope of the invention, modifications could be made to the embodiments which have just been described. In addition, the applications of such a device are not limited to the cement transport industry but on the contrary encompass all questions of transport and distribution of powdery or granular products of all kinds.
