The invention relates to novel mechanical fixing devices in which the application of an element on a member to be fixed therein is ensured by the deformation, under the positive action of a second movable element with respect to the body. first, a deformable part of the latter, which comes to bear on the aforesaid organ.
Such devices have in particular been recommended for securing the connection, on a rigid or quasi-rigid part, of an elastomer or plastic tubing. To do this, a metal element with a female conical seat, and on which a tubing was mounted centered, a metal element also with a male seat with a taper at most equal to the previous one, but having an end of taper less than that of this last litter. During this operation, the low-tapered end was deformed until it took on a taper at least equal to that of the two previous spans, and in doing so became embedded in the tubing.
A definitive crimping of the deformable bearing surface on said tubing was thus achieved and the fixing, as well as the tightness, were ensured completely.
However, devices of this kind have the serious drawback of causing, because the deformed bearing surface is metallic, a crimping by permanent deformation. These devices therefore generally cannot be disassembled, barely irreparably altering the tubing itself, and in any case they can no longer be reassembled, since the active bearing which must be deformed to ensure the crimping, the has already been.
The present invention relates to novel mechanical fastening devices of the kind in question without the drawback just mentioned.
They are characterized by the fact that the active part of an element, deformed thanks to the relative movement of this element, with respect to a second on which together with the previous one, must be, at the end of the movement fixed an organ, is located elastically deformed when fastening is performed.
In other words, the fixing is no longer ensured by a permanent deformation of the active part of the first element before coagulating with the second, but rather by an elastic deformation. A real elastic fixing is thus achieved and it is easily understood that such devices can be removed without altering any part and also be put back in place using the same parts.
The materials which are suitable for the aforesaid active part are quite diverse and they depend in particular on the very nature of the organ to be fixed, as well as on the conditions to be satisfied. However, very interesting results have been obtained by establishing the said active parts as materials. plastics, and more especially thermoplastic materials. Among these, synthetic linear superpolymers are most particularly suitable and in particular superpolyamides.
It is generally advantageous that, not only the active part of the element is made of plastic material (superpolyamides in particular), but the entire element which comprises it, and even also the second element which coacts with the first, by causing the elastic deformation of the active part of it.
As for the member to be fixed, it may be of any suitable nature, and depending on the case, in particular, of hard, semi-hard, semi-soft or soft metal, glass, refractory material, rubber, ebonite, in fiber, in plastics, and in this case very especially in thermoplastic materials: polyvinyl, polyacrylic, superpolyamide derivatives, etc .;

The new devices according to the invention are very particularly suitable for fixing pipes carrying liquid fuels (gasoline.) Gas oil) on the bosses of the bodies of parts (tanks, pumps: filters, carburetors) of internal combustion engines, for land motor vehicles ;; air and sea in particular
They are also very suitable for the constitution of connections between two pipes (which can moreover be of identical or different nature) carrying the most diverse fluids.
The invention will be illustrated below in one of its preferred embodiments!) But the following description is of course given only as a strict indication.
For this, reference will be made to the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 is a view in section before mounting a mechanical fixing device for a pipe; Figure 2 is also a sectional view of the same device, the fixing being performed.
It is desired to mount, by tightening it and ensuring a perfect seal, a flexible superpolyamide tubing 1 on a fixed rigid superpolyamide element 2, in which is formed a channel 3 which widens into a housing 4 in order to receive the end of the tube. tubing 1 (Fig. 1).
The fixed element 2 has a female part with a threaded hole 5 ending in a bearing surface 6 of constant taper
A second male element. threaded, 7, hollow to provide passage to the tubing 1, made of the same rigid superpolyamide as the element 2, suitable for being screwed into the latter, presents at the end to be engaged in the hole 5. a conical bearing surface 8 of taper slightly lower than that of staff 6; laportée 8 ends in a part 9 whose internal diameter is very slightly greater than that of the pipe 1 and which has an internal groove to increase its elasticity.
It is easy to see under these conditions that by force-screwing the male element 7 onto the fixed element 2 (Figa 2) the end part 9 deforms elastically due to its initial support on the bearing 6 and the subsequent application of the bearing 8 on the bearing 6 of higher taper.
In this deformation, the end part 9 finally becomes cased in the tube 1, deforming it also elastically into an annular groove 10, which provides a real crimping on the tube 1 of the assembly formed by the two elements 2 and 7 firmly pressed against each other. During this operation, there even occurs a slight entrainment of the tubing 1 in its housing, at the end of which the end of the latter comes to rest closely on the bottom of the housing 40.
So:; the fixing is well done and the sealing provided by double effect is absolutely total.
During the dismantling obtained, by unscrewing the movable element 7 from the fixed element 2, the end part 9, because the material constituting it has not exceeded its elastic limit, returns to its initial position and the two elements 2 and 7 can therefore be disassembled without any damage.
During this dismantling operation, the annular groove 10 itself is erased due to the elasticity offered by the material constituting the tubing.
The assembly can obviously be reassembled under the same conditions as above and with identical guarantees.
