The novelty of the flywatcher which is the subject of the present invention lies essentially in the fact that the anterior part, with a large surface, thereof is made of an artificial material which is very soft and flexible due to its elasticity, preferably in the material known under the trade name "lupolene". The wide area front portion is preferably grid-shaped and therefore allows air to pass when a quick hit is struck. It is particularly advantageous that the wide-area part or pallet of the flyknife is reinforced by one or, preferably, by two longitudinal ribs, these ribs having a thickness such that, on at least one side , they do not go beyond the striking face.
The accompanying drawing represents several embodiments of the object of the invention.
Figure 1 gives a top view of the front part and part of the handle of the fly swatter; FIG. 2 represents, in a schematic and simplified manner, the entire flywatcher, with its handle appearing in full, and FIG. 3 gives detailed views relating to the assembly of the handle and the body with a wide surface or pallet .
The fly swatter preferably has the shape of a grid, as is shown in Figure 1, this grid allowing the passage of air when a quick hit is given, while being however sufficiently tight mesh to that the flies to be killed are safely caught.
In the preferred embodiment, shown in FIG. 1, the pallet has two longitudinal ribs 1. These are of a dimension such that, on one side at least, they do not extend beyond the striking face.
The longitudinal ribs meet near the place of attachment of the handle, to form a plate which receives the end of the latter between two projections forming a fork. The end of the handle and the fork protrusions are assembled by means of pins, which can have any of the different shapes shown in Figure 3 at a, b, c, d, e, f or g. The pegs can be made in one piece with the handle. This is possible in the case considered owing to the fact that the projections into which they are introduced bend easily.
Instead of the hinge assembly, one can also employ, as shown in h, a push-in or interlocking assembly. In this case, the pallet carries a protrusion in the form of a socket, in which the end of the handle is driven; is fixed by gluing and / or by engaging a rim or bead of the sleeve in a recess, preferably annular, of the handle.
The handle preferably has a double T-shaped cross section, which widens somewhat towards the gripping end.
Thanks to this shape of cross-section, the handle has a relatively high rigidity, which can be further increased by the choice of the material from which it is made. It is also preferably made of an artificial material but one could also use a simple wooden or metal handle. If the handle is provided in artificial material, an eyelet will advantageously be shaped at its end. The new flywaters have a beautiful appearance, especially when they are put on the market in various colors, which, during the manufacture of artificial material, presents no difficulty.
