<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a packaging box made of cardboard or any other similar material and made from a blank provided with notches arranged in a particular way, ensuring the reinforcement of its four corners.
Said notches are made in such a way that each corner of the box is closed by two thicknesses of material without providing separate or distinct corner pieces.
In the event that the box to be executed must, because of its use, present extraordinarily rigid and strong angles, these, although they already include two thicknesses coming directly from the blank from which the box is taken, can still receive additional reinforcements made up, as mentioned above, by separate corner pieces.
The field of application of the principle of the present invention extends as well to the execution of telescopic boots as to that of bell boxes as well as that of boxes with or without groove.
The assembly of the packaging box according to the invention can be carried out by any known and usual fixing means, that is to say that the fixing of the tabs to the side walls of said box can be carried out by gluing, riveting, stapling, etc.
A simple embodiment of a packaging box according to the invention, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the appended drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the blank used for making the boot.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of an assembled box, showing the reinforced angles.
Fig 3 is a plan view in detail of one of the corners of the box.
The blank represented by FIG. 1 is that of a rectangular packaging box.
It is cut, according to known and usual methods, from a sheet of material, for example cardboard.
It is provided with vertical delivery lines 6 and 7 extending parallel over its entire height and horizontal delivery lines 8 and 9 which are also parallel and extending over its entire width.
Said upsetting lines delimit the bottom 1, the long side walls 2 and 3, the short side walls 4 and 5 as well as the tabs located in the corners of the blank, and which are intended to form the corners of the box. Until now, said legs, four in number, were separated by a notch made along the discharge line separating them from one of the side walls which is adjacent to them, while they were integral with the other. The tab thus formed being then fixed in any way against the outer face of the side wall from which it had been separated by the aforesaid notch so as to form one of the corners of the boot.
According to the present invention, the notch essential for forming each of the tabs, instead of being made along one of the upsetting lines which delimit it, is made along the diagonal of each of the square surfaces delimited in the corners. blank, via delivery lines 6 to 9.
In fig. 1, these notches which originate in each corner of the bottom of the box extend diagonally to reach the corresponding corner of the blank and are marked 10-11-12 and 13. Therefore, each of the side walls 2- 3-4 and 5 is provided at each of its ends with a triangular tab, respectively 2 'and 2 ", 3' and 3", 4 'and 4 ", 5' and 5".
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
During the formation and assembly of the box, according to the invention, the panels 2-3-4 and 5 of the blank surrounding the bottom 1 and intended to form the side walls of the box, are raised perpendicular. rement relative to said bottom and the two triangular tabs present at the place where each corner of the boot is to be formed, are folded, one, for example, the one forming one unit with the short wall, inside the boot. box and the other, integral with the long wall, on the outside of the box and they are fixed, the first against the inner face of the long wall and the second against the outer face of the short wall. the corner of the box consists of two layers of cardboard, as shown generally in fig. 2 and in more detail, by FIG. 3.
In the latter, which is a plan view and on a large scale of the lower right corner of FIG. 2, the triangular tab 3 "integral with the wall 3 is folded back and fixed along the outer face of the wall 4, while the triangular tab 4" integral with the wall 4 is folded up and fixed along the face interior of the wall 3. It goes without saying that one could proceed in the opposite way, that is to say tab 3 "on the inside and tab 4" on the outside.
If necessary, additional reinforcement of the angle can be obtained by fixing to the outside or inside of the boot a separate corner piece of the usual type, which would bring the number of ds to three. 'thicknesses of material forming the angle of the frame.
If necessary, if it is necessary that the formed and assembled box can be folded flat (for storage or transport) the blank is provided with complementary upsetting lines 14 to 17, carried out as indicated in fig. 1, where only the two side walls 2 and 3 or the two side walls 4 and 5 are of interest, as the case may be; in the first case, the box folds flat in the direction of the length, in the second case, in the direction of the width.
CLAIMS.
