<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

APPARATUS FOR PREPARING HOT WATER, ESPECIALLY FOR TRUCK USE.
The object of the invention is a rapid apparatus for the preparation of hot water for the most diverse purposes, for example, for delivering hot water for the preparation of coffee, tea, broth, etc. as for cooking eggs, for keeping bottles of milk warm, for example, or the like, in particular for use on a truck.
The known devices are coffee percolating machines proper, in which the coffee beam is placed in the boiling chamber of the container and is exhausted there; container comes out of ready coffee.
These devices have the drawback of being complicated to handle, since after each use the device must be disassembled to remove the coffee grounds, to clean the filters which are for the most part arranged inside. inside the device, to replace filter papers, etc. The devices are relatively large and take up a lot of space, for example on the dashboard.
In addition, these devices are heated by electric heating wires which are either in closed cartridges or in closed heating plates which are introduced into the boiling chamber of the water container or are arranged under the bottom of the tank. boiling chamber.
In this arrangement, the heating of the liquid takes place only by the transmission of radiant heat and a longer heating time is therefore required which is equivalent to the disadvantage of charging the car battery for the same duration.
These complications and drawbacks are avoided by the invention.
The invention comprises a water container open above, which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
grounded and which carries at its lower part a valve known per se for withdrawing liquid. In the water container is arranged the heating element, which comprises for example a heating wire wound in the manner of a watch spring, which is arranged bare a little distance above the bottom of the water container and of which one end is also earthed while the other end of the spring is conducted under insulation to the second pole of the battery, for example by means of a contact rod which passes through an insulating gasket through the bottom of the container with water and which is conformed to a plug of socket.
The heating element is advantageously protected against contact by a mesh arranged above it, fixed or removable.
Thanks to the heating element being exposed directly in the liquid to be heated, there is direct transmission of its heat to the liquid which is brought to the boiling point in a notably shorter time than in devices with closed heating cartridges and by also the battery is subjected to an even less load.
The water container is, according to the invention, mounted at one end of a small console, permanently or removably, which, at the time of need, is pushed into a monopolar socket, for example, arranged on the shelf. of the edge panel, so as not to be able to tilt, the contact pin of this socket being connected to the free pole of the battery, while the support arm and the casing of the socket are earthed. A conductor in the console goes from the contact pin of the socket, via a switch, preferably monopolar of a type known per se, to the other end of the console, on which also rests the receptacle. water, to the free pole of the heating element of the water container.
The switch button may be fitted with a small indicator lamp supplied by battery current when the circuit is closed.
Another embodiment is that the heating element is arranged, in uncoated or enclosed form, near the bottom of a welded container provided at the top with a closable filling opening and at the bottom of the container. a discharge pipe with a draw-off tap, and which has at its upper end an opening for filling it with the liquid to be heated. A second removable container, serving for percolating the beverage, for example an ordinary cup, is held, to receive the hot liquid, below the cooking container and is filled by actuation of its draw-off valve.
The percolating cup can be releasably clamped, by means of an arm which carries it with a pressure spring, or in another manner known per se, in the position of use below the cooking vessel.
The cooking vessel draw-off valve is disposed at such a location at its bottom that its outlet opening is located above the cup opening clamped below the cooking vessel.
According to the invention, the draw-off tap is connected to a switch or is shaped to constitute one, the switching positions of which are arranged in such a way that when the tap is opened, the valve is cut off at the same time. current, while closing the valve also closes the circuit, and in a third position the current is also cut, while closing the valve. This last position is important for the most frequent case in practice where the hot water container is filled with water, which should only be used later for the preparation of hot water.
In or on the cooking vessel there may be arranged a thermostat mounted in the current supply conductor, which, in a known manner, additionally automatically controls the current supply even independently of the temperature of the heater. cooking vessel or liquid in it.
The object of the invention is shown in the drawing in several examples.

pies of embodiments.
FIG. 1 shows in partial longitudinal section an elevation of one embodiment of the device for preparing hot water according to the invention; FIG. 2 illustrates another embodiment of the invention with a closed container.
The water container is designated by 1, by 2 the heating element, whose polar end a is connected by pin 3 to the water container 1 which is grounded, while the polar end b of l The heating element is connected by the pin 4 which passes in isolation through the bottom of the water container 1. The draw-off valve is designated by 5, by the protective screen placed above the heating element 6. ; at the upper edge of the water container and above the water line is placed the whistle head 7. The lid of the water container is designated by 8, which, in the example shown, to the shape of a cup, which is dimensioned such that it can be engaged in an upright position, in the water container.
The cup is provided with a handle 9 which is preferably foldable.
By 10 we have designated the supporting metal console, inside which passes in an isolated manner the pin 4 which is connected to the connection device or switch 11, the head of which is equipped with an indicator lamp 12. By 13 has been designated a tubing or console nozzle with a monopolar contact socket which is connected by the conductor 14 to the contact pin 4 of the heating element 2, passing through the switch 11. The container to water 1 is in electrical contact with the console 10 and is therefore grounded, which, in a known manner, is brought close to the end nozzle of the carrying console.
In the dashboard 18 is arranged, for example, the indentation nozzle 15 also located at the ground, which internally carries the insulated socket-outlet pin 16, which goes in isolation to the free pole of the bat- rie or generator used for lighting. The two nozzles 13 and 15 are provided, in a known manner, with stops, notches or the like which secure the fixing of the console in the nozzle 15 so as not to be able to tilt. When the console is pushed into the nozzle 15, the contact socket of the nozzle 13 comes into contact with the pin 16 and after actuation of the pressure switch 11, the circuit is closed.
Between switch 11 and contact pin 4 it is possible, instead of making a direct connection, to incorporate a thermostat 17 which, even when the button to be pressed is in the engagement position, controls the temperature of the element. heating, respectively of the liquid, by automatic opening and closing of the electrical circuit.
According to the embodiment of Figure 2, a water container 21 is provided which has at the top a filling opening which can be closed by means of a cover. Near the bottom of this container is the heating element 22, for example in the form of a bare wire or the like, the pole end a of which is connected by means of the carrier pin 23 to the body of the container placed at. the ground, while the polar end b, by the plug 24, goes outwards through the bottom of the water container in an isolated manner and is connected by the conductor 26 to the free pole of the current source.
The outlet sleeve provided in the bottom of the receptacle, with its valve plug, which can be actuated from the outside by means of the thumbwheel 30 has been designated by 25. In the conductor 26 leading from the heating coil b, respectively from pin 24, at the current source, the switch 27 has been interposed, which, in the example of the drawing, is coupled to the plug of the valve 25 and which is actuated by the latter when the knob is actuated 30. A short distance from the bottom of the water container is arranged, under the latter, a possibly removable plate 28, forming a false bottom.
In the space thus formed below the bottom 29 properly
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
said of the container, are the valve plug, the switch 27 and its supply conductors, kept dry and easily accessible.
To the body of the water container 21 is fitted the support and carrier console 31, the free end of which is shaped to be inserted into a nozzle 35 which is mounted in the edge panel 34 and which carries internally, in isolation, the plug 36 which is connected to the free pole of the battery; the nozzle 35 and the arm 31 are earthed. In the arm 31 is mounted, by means of the insulating part 32, the contact sleeve 33 for the nozzle pin 36. At the arm 31 is arranged at 37 a sup - elastic port 38, which is provided with a plate 39 which carries the cup 40 and clamps it in an easily removable manner, below the water container.
In this cup 40, according to the invention, the beverage substance is infused by means of liquid withdrawn from the hot water container 21, for example cocoa or coffee, the coffee powder being designated by 41.
The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown. Thus, for example, the water container can be fixedly connected to the console or also can engage on it by pushing it down. The bracket can be made of an insulating material, in which a special conductor is provided, which connects the water container and therefore also the spindle to the ground. Moreover, the console can be equipped with two contact pins, one of which is earthed and the other of which goes to the free pole of the battery.
The container and cup may be of any suitable material. The cup itself may be in the form of a double-walled heat-insulating cup and may be closed by means of a special cover. In the embodiment of FIG. 2, it is also possible to provide a protective mesh.
