<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

IMPROVEMENTS TO ADJUSTABLE CLOSING DEVICES FOR CLOTHING.
The present invention relates to adjustable closures for clothing. Since antiquity buttons and buttonholes have been used, however until now and as far as we know no means have been provided by which the position of a button can be quickly changed so that the garment width can be changed quickly.
The object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable closure device in which the position, for example of a button, can be adjusted.
The invention is based on a closure of known type, described and shown in a prior patent and comprising a slider and a flexible closure, so that the slider can slide along the closure and can be locked in place. any point thereof by means of a releasable locking element o Until now, when the adjustable zipper was to be used to close a garment, the zipper was attached to one of the parts and the slider to another part of the garment to be assembled When assembling the parts, for example the ends of a belt, it is obvious that the slider must be threaded on the zipper and since the members of this one are narrow, in certain circumstances it is difficult to do so,
especially when only the sense of touch is used as a guide.
The present invention relates to an adjustable closure device for adjustably fastening two parts of a garment and comprising a strip of flexible material forming a closure, made in such a way that it can be attached to one of said parts; a slider engages with the closure and can be moved along it, the slider being provided with a blocking element serving to block said slider at any point of the closure and carrying a locking element. closure executed so as to engage in a complementary closure element, disposed on the other part.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The slider may engage around and partially below the edges of the zipper with the free side edges of the slider spaced apart from each other. The closure member may include a button, while the slider may include a button. the complementary closure element is formed by a buttonhole. However, the closure element can also be formed by a hook. In any case, the slider is provided with a tab serving to actuate the locking element and the closure element is provided on said tab. The tab can be lengthened and can extend in the closing direction when the slider is blocked in its intended position.
One embodiment, given by way of non-limiting example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows the top of a skirt fitted with the improved device,
Fig. 2 shows the parts of the skirt attached to each other.
Fig. 3 is, on a larger scale, a section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is, on a larger scale, a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 2.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view on a scale identical to that of FIG. 4 of a variant of a detail of the device.
The closing device of figs. 1 to 4 comprises a closure generally identified by 10 and produced by means of a resistant fabric 11 and provided with a central ridge 12 of generally triangular shape and obtained, either by folding the fabric around a core 13 as shown, or by folding it back on itself keeping the folds in place by a row of longitudinal stitches not shown, but easily achievable by professionals. The ridge 12 having been formed by the means described or in another way, staples 14 are applied in a known manner at regular spacings, as is apparent from FIGS. 4 and 1.
As can be seen from FIG. 3, the fabric 11 comprising the closure is disposed between the pleats 15 and 16 of a size tape 17 of the skirt shown, the pleats being fixed by the stitches 18.
The slider, generally marked 20, comprises a body 21 of C-shaped cross-section which, by virtue of this shape, can be attached to the closure 10 by engaging around and partially below it.
Said body 21 carries vertical lugs 22 in which the locking element 23 pivots by means of its pins 24. The lugs are formed from body 21, thus leaving an opening in said body so that the stopper 25 of the locking element-23 can contact the closure 10. The opposite end of the locking element forms a tab 26. To limit the travel of the slider and to prevent it from coming out of the slider. closure, a stop 26a is provided at each end thereof.
The closure 10 and the slider 20 described are known and are therefore not claimed.
According to the present invention, a button 27 is suitably attached to the tab of the slider, for example by means of a rivet 28. A buttonhole 30, serving to engage the button 27, is provided in the opposite free end 31 of the button. tape size 17. When performing the parts, it should be noted that the traction on the cursor exerted by the other part, when they are attached to each other, is preferably carried out in the same direction as the extension of the tab 26. If the traction was exerted in the opposite direction, the slider could be released.
From the above it emerges that the parts are assembled simply by buttoning the tab 31 or other parts to be attached to the button 27 after adjusting the slider 20 on the closure 10. Even after buttoning the tab. 31 on the button, it is always possible to perform a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
adjustment by lifting the button to release Locking isolation 25, thus unlocking the slider and moving the slider on the lock 10 to the desired point
Modifications of the described embodiment are possible.
For example, button 27, although preferably attached to tab 26, may be attached to the body of the slider. Further, button 27 may be replaced, for example, by a hook as shown in Fig. 5 in wherein the tab 26 is elongated and forms a U-fold 26 "to then widen into a plate 27 '; the plate 27', the U-fold 26" and the tab 26 'constituting the hook.
