SOUPAPE D'EXPIRATION POUR APPAREIL RESPIRATOIREo
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 est une vue fragmentaire schématique, partie en coupe, d'un couvre-face muni d'une soupape ou clapet d'expiration selon l'invention;
Fig. 2 montre, en vue agrandie, en demi-élévation et demi-coupe, un conduit d'aspiration et d'expiration;
Figs.
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
REVENDICATIONS.

EXHAUST VALVE FOR RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT
The invention relates to respiratory devices, and relates in particular to the valves or exhalation valves used in conjunction with said devices, in particular mounted on their face cover.
Its object is to provide a valve or flap of simple construction and safe operation, easily adaptable to various application conditions.
It comprises, independently of the valve or flap itself, the breathing apparatuses and in particular the face coverings including application.
A valve or valve according to the invention essentially comprises an enclosure or conduit receiving or through which the fluid to be evacuated, the contour wall of which is provided at distance in distance with openings which pass through it, and a member, provided with elasticity, preferably formed of a material of elastic nature, adapting to said wall, and split from distance to distance to form tabs or lamellae applying to the said openings.
Depending on the size of the openings, the extent of the legs, the nature and the thickness of the said organ, it is possible to achieve all the desired degrees of sensitivity in the operation and, consequently, to satisfy all the conditions of use of the device. the practice.
According to a preferred embodiment, the member takes the form of a sleeve provided with slits or notches extending from one of its ends to some distance from its other end, and it adapts externally to the wall of a duct through which the fluid to be evacuated, so that the tabs or lamellae of the sleeve provided by the slots formed therein individually cover an opening of the duct.
Preferably, the non-notched end of the sleeve is provided with a bead, and also preferably, the sleeve is housed in a port.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tion of reduced duct diameter. The aforesaid bead may, at least in part, be turned inward and cooperate with a groove suitable for receiving it, formed at one end of the reduced diameter portion of the duct.
Means, such as a protruding lug from the sleeve and a cell intended for it from the duct, or an equivalent means, can also be provided to prevent any relative circumferential movement of the sleeve and the duct.
And so that the invention may be fully understood, it will be described below in more detail, with the aid of the accompanying drawing, in its preferred embodiment and its application to a face cover of a breathing apparatus.
On the drawing :
Fig. 1 is a schematic fragmentary view, partly in section, of a face cover provided with an exhalation valve or valve according to the invention;
Fig. 2 shows, in enlarged view, in half-elevation and half-section, an aspiration and expiration duct;
Figs. 3 and 4 show, on an enlarged scale, respectively, in plan from below and in elevation and section, the sleeve.
With reference to the drawing, 1 denotes a face cover of usual shape and construction which receives, in an opening 2, a duct 3, serving both for suction and for exhalation.
This duct 3 comprises, as shown in FIG. 2, end threaded portions 4 and 5 and, in an intermediate location, a portion of reduced diameter 6, at one end of which is formed an annular groove groove 7.
At an appropriate location on the portion 6, the duct 3 is provided with openings 8 distributed, in particular uniformly, around its periphery, and which pass through the wall thereof.
Covering part 6 of duct 3, there is a sleeve 9, made of a material exhibiting elasticity, advantageously rubber, or a material of similar behavior, which is split or notched as in 10 from a end up to a certain distance from its other end, thus leaving legs or strips 11, each of which completely covers and extends somewhat on either side of an opening 8.
At the non-notched end, the sleeve is provided with a bead 12, which, advantageously, is, at least in part, formed internally and thus comes to cooperate with the groove or groove 7 of the duct 3, preventing a longitudinal displacement of the sleeve. .
In addition, to prevent any circumferential displacement of this sleeve, there is provided, at 13, a lug projecting inwardly on the sleeve and at 14 a cell of corresponding conformation in the portion 6 of the duct 3.
FIG. 1 shows the arrangement of the members when the sleeve and the duct are assembled.
As also shown in Figure 1, around the portion 6 of the duct and the sleeve disposed therein, is mounted a housing 15, which can receive any suitable conformation, that shown being simply illustrative, provided with outlet pipes 16. for the discharged fluid. We can advantageously orient these tubes towards the rear and the sides of the face cover.
At the front end of the conduit 3 is still mounted the housing 17 comprising a fluid inlet and a pressure reducer or an inspiration valve or both, of any kind and not shown as not forming part of the invention.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The conduit 3, the face cover, the housing 15 and the housing 17 are kept assembled by said conduit 3 and nuts 18 and 19 engaged on its threaded portions 4 and 5, interposing at the necessary locations, for example as shown , sealing washers 20 of gasket material, such as rubber. . ' @
It emerges from the foregoing description that during an inhalation, the tabs or lamellae 11 of the sleeve 9 apply tightly to the surface of the portion 6 of the duct 3, sealing the openings 8, while 'at each expiration, the inspiration valve being naturally closed,
the tabs or lamellae 11 rise slightly from the outer surface of the portion 6 of the duct 3, allowing the fluid to pass towards the housing 15 and the discharge pipes 16.
It will be understood that by a judicious choice of, or by acting on the size of the openings 8, the material of the sleeve, its thickness, the extent of the notches 10, and the size of the bead 12, or some of these elements only, we will achieve any desired sensitivity in the operation of the valve or exhalation valve.
Of course, the embodiment described is exemplary only, and the invention encompasses, in addition to modifications, various variations and equivalents.
