La Fig. 1 est une vue d'élévation postérieure d'un pare-brise monté sur le guidon;
La Fig. 2 est une vue partielle en coupe verticale de la Fig. 1, prise suivant la ligne pointillée A-A et dessinée à une échelle plus grande;

WINDSHIELD IMPROVEMENTS FOR MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLES.
The invention relates to windshields, intended for motorcycles and bicycles, windshields of the type in which a transparent panel is removably connected to uprights and is adjustable thereon in a vertical plane, so as to meet the wishes of the user, said uprights being provided near their lower ends with clamps or clamps for fixing to the handlebars.
The object of the present invention is to establish simple and inexpensive means, making it possible to join the panel to the uprights in an adjustable manner.
In a windshield according to the present invention, the panel is elastically connected to the uprights by means of rubber mounts, each of which is provided with a sleeve and a plug intended respectively to tighten the upright and. to penetrate into an orifice in this panel. According to the invention, advantage is taken of the inherent elasticity of the linings in order to achieve the dual function of tightening the uprights and supporting the panel in a rolling position.
When it comes to adjusting the position of the panel by moving up or down to suit the individual requirements of a user, it is sufficient to exert a force on the frames. the required direction, so as to overcome the elastic clamping effect, the sleeves then remaining in the desired position, without having to use mechanical locking members.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a frame has a cylindrical plug provided with a head, this head being compressed and being forced out through an orifice provided in the panel. To allow adaptation of the frame to panels of various thicknesses, the shank of the plug is fitted with a rubber washer which, when it occupies its place of use, is compressed between the rear face of the panel. and a shoulder integral with the plug.

The invention will be described in detail below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show by way of example an advantageous embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a rear elevational view of a windshield mounted on the handlebars;
Fig. 2 is a partial view in vertical section of FIG. 1, taken along the dotted line A-A and drawn on a larger scale;
Fig. 3 shows, in perspective, elements of the clamping system shown in FIG. 2.
In these drawings, a transparent panel 1, made of a thermoplastic material, is removably joined by means of rubber mounts 2, arranged spaced apart, to uprights 3, the latter being fixed by clamping devices 4 on the handlebars 4a. A flexible apron 5, made of a transparent flexible material, is fixed to the lower marginal edge of the panel 1 by means of screw connections 6 and a metal strip 7. The lower part of the apron 5 is provided with lacing eyelets 8 which make it possible to fix the apron with the aid of a lace to the frame of a motorcycle or to an accessory thereof, for example the carcass of a headlight.
Each rubber frame 2 is constituted by a sleeve 9 threaded onto an upright 3 with a circular section, so as to tighten the latter strongly and by a plug comprising a cylindrical rod 10 and a head or button 11 which is pushed back to through a hole 12 in panel 1.
The inherent elasticity of the rod 10 allows the latter to grip in the orifice of the panel under the relaxation force, the arrangement being such that the head 11, located on one side of the panel 1, and a rubber washer 13, located on the other face of this panel, are subjected to a compressive force acting so as to support the two faces of the windshield. It can be seen that the rear face of the washer 13 rests against a shoulder 14, so that part of the compressive force exerted on the washer 13 will be transmitted to the body of the sleeve 9, while a part the relaxation force of the latter will be exerted in the direction of the washer 13, these forces acting in such a way as to help maintain a firm and elastic connection between the panel, the plugs, the uprights and the sleeves.
The panel 1 can be released from the sheets 10 by the application of a force. Furthermore, their mutual grip is firm enough to withstand the rolling of a bicycle or motorcycle. On the other hand, the position of the panel relative to the handlebars can be adjusted by forcibly moving the sleeves 9 up or down along the uprights 3.
Each clamp 4 comprises half-clamps 16 tightened around the handlebar 4a using bolts and nuts, the bolt 17 was attached to a plug 18 which penetrates into a socket 19. The latter, thus - if that the plug 18, are perforated diametrically at 20, 21 in order to receive an upright 3. The latter through the borehole 20 in loose contact, while it passes through the borehole 21 in closer contact. When tightening the nuts 22, the axial force exerted on the plug 18 has the effect that the upright 3 is strongly pressed against an edge of the borehole 20, while the mouth of the sleeve 19 is pressed against the face 24 of a neighboring yoke 4, this arrangement makes it possible to fix the uprights 3 firmly to the handlebars using the clamps 4.
