<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
<EMI ID=11.1>

<EMI ID=13.1>

The invention relates to a shock absorbing device for ensuring the transport of the most diverse fragile goods' either

transport, by means of a braked mobile unit, of the load subjected to inertial forces as a result of rapid starts or blows
powerful brakes and, on the other hand, during rail transport in particular, it is intended to considerably attenuate the shocks imposed on fragile loads of all kinds, during maneuvers and disconnections.

Figures 6, 6 <2> and 63, show a variant of the system
<EMI ID = 7.1>
positive, object of the invention, comprises a mobile part or frame A receiving the goods to be transported, being able to move relative to a fixed assembly or fixed frame B secured to the transport vehicle D. The mobile assembly is provided with springs K arranged laterally to the frame A, outside this frame and the ends of which are connected to this frame by articulation pins G. These springs are coupled by their middle part to a braking system constituted, in the embodiment -
<EMI ID = 8.1>
able to slide in friction against the beams B of the fixed frame A carried by the railway platform.
The mobile unit A is also mounted on wheels H un-
<EMI ID = 9.1>
posed, arranged on each side of the transverse median axis of the plate, as it is visible in the drawing.
With this device, when a sudden change occurs
speed or a shock due to the aforementioned causes, the movement of the mobile part A mounted on wheels is carried out in the corresponding direction, as a result of the inertia forces of the moving masses.
During this movement, each of the wheels H follows its rolling path. This circular track at its origin, then extends into a ramp; and from the start the mobile equipment initiates a semi-circular movement comparable to that of a pendulum.
During this ascent on ramp 1 for example, the springs
<EMI ID = 10.1>
by the bar E on the upper fixed part C gradually store a first part of the kinetic energy of the moving masses until the end of the race of the raceway, the height of which is somewhat less than the flattening deflection of the springs.
A second part of this energy is absorbed by an equally progressive braking effected by means of the brake bar B coupled to the springs, the pressure of which increases on the beam.
<EMI ID = 11.1>
of the mobile crew.
Finally a last part of this kinetic energy is absorbed by the potential energy due to the rise in the load.
In its three forms of absorption acting simultaneously during operation of the device, the kinetic energy of the moving masses, that is to say of the mobile equipment and its load, is totally stored and absorbed at the end of the first elongation. whose journey time is extended over time.
When this first stage is reached, the springs, acting in conjunction with the weight of the moving equipment and its load, create a component.
<EMI ID = 12.1>
is greater than that of the tangential force of the brake., this force gives rise to a rolling torque which causes the moving part to return to the starting point, the latter being definitively reached after a few oscillations.
The energy stored by the springs and the potential of the
<EMI ID = 13.1>
during these oscillations, when returning to the starting point.
This last phase performs 1-final damping, thus resetting the assembly to cope with a new shock, either in the same direction or in the opposite direction.
In this way a violent impact, in the longitudinal direction, undergone by any vehicle on which the shock-absorbing frame is mounted, results in loading by progressive braking and extended over time, producing for the latter an effective damping preserving it from any damage ..
With the device in operation for final damping, any new shock occurring immediately within a short time
time, will be passed on to the mobile crew, either in acceleration or in deceleration, constantly preserving the change during its relative displacement according to the direction of the reactions due to the shocks and counter-shocks received by the transport vehicle.
In order to extend over time, by increasing the elongation stroke, the damping of extremely fragile and relatively low weight loads, the device will in some cases include
case of adaptation to springs X (fig. 4) of compensating springs Y whose
the implementation can be obtained at will, with a view to immediate or delayed action depending on the importance of the weight ;, by placing Z wedges between the base of the frame A and the ends of the spring Y.
These compensated springs have the effect of attenuating in a certain

provided in the form of a plate and the braking system is lowered, the K springs coupled to the C bar being distributed at a level lower than
<EMI ID = 17.1>
mobile and fixed platform of the railway vehicle are at the same low level, corresponding to that of the railway car platform.
<EMI ID = 18.1>
This provision is particularly applicable to trailers of rail-road wagons which rest in particular by their iron wheels on chocks.
