<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
2 ) de maintenir dans la même mesure dans les injecteurs à tour- billon la vitesse nécessaire dans le foyer supérieur pour la séparation des particules de cendres des gaz ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

METHOD FOR BURNING SOLID FUELS-.
The invention relates to the technique for adjusting the hearths corresponding to the main Belgian Patent and to the Belgian Patent for Improvement applied for under No. 386.003, and is applicable both to the adjustment of combustion and to the adjustment of the burners. properties of fuel ash and control of combustion efficiency.
To carry out this multiple adjustment, according to the present invention, the entire combustion operation is carried out so as to produce in the lower hearth to a certain extent a coarse combustion, which is externalized by combustion and gasification of the combustion. coal pushed to the maximum, consequently more or less incomplete, and in the upper hearth, the complete combustion of the finer fuel particles, not yet completely burned, carried into this hearth by the gases of the lower hearth, and the products of gasification .
In an operation of this kind, it is not necessary to carry out in the lower hearth, an adjustment of the combustion, or only a coarse adjustment while in the upper hearth, one carries out the adjustment to the minimum quantity of. air, in excess according to the CO2 and CO contents.
By dividing the fireplace into two spaces that can be influenced separately, combustion can be carried out with maximum useful effect in the simplest way and for all boiler loads. For this purpose, according to the invention, a means known in the art is also applied, which consists of returning combustion gases to the hearth. Similar return of combustion gases does not harm the excess air of the gases in the fireplace o It has an inert action and is suitable for reducing the temperature of the fireplace, but also the intensity of combustion and consequently the efficiency of the combustion chamber. the installation of the fireplace-.
According to the present invention, this return also produces in the case considered another very important effect it makes it possible to fully maintain the kinetic operation of return of the cinders in the lower hearth, even for lower combustion efficiencies which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
require a reduction in the introduction of air.
The drawing shows, in a more or less diagrammatic section, the arrangement of the adjustment members:
In this drawing, the following letters denote respectively:
W the mobile grid
U the lower focus
0 the upper focus
To the cooling space of the boiler
R the residue bag DU the steam superheater
SV1 and SV2 the coil heater
L1 the hot air heater L2 the hot air boiler heater constructed in a tower shape, noting that obviously the same considerations apply to every other type of multi-boiler construction prints,
B is the fuel supply.
Coming from the FG fresh air blower, the cold air pipe! a is used to supply the mobile grid with zones W and a bypass b, adjustable in! [, supplies the complete combustion sleeve with the residue R. But the main pipe g ends at the hot air heater L1, and of this ci via line h to the very hot air heater L2. The very hot air leaves the latter through line i, which branches off at its end between lines c and d regulated by regulators s or v or which can also be regulated individually, which end in the known injectors. according to the earlier patents in both foci (See also the elevational view in the direction of the arrow z in the drawing).
The outlet e, adjustable in x, leads very hot air to the fuel loading duct behind band B.
According to the invention, there is also a second fan, the combustion gas return suction fan RG, from which a pipe branch 1 passing through the regulating member o sucks the burnt gases in k behind the heater. hot air L1, and a pipe branch n, sucks these same gases in m, behind the very hot air heater, L2. These gases are conducted via line p to the mixing point provided with the regulating member s, where they are mixed with very hot air via line i. A bifurcation g leads the burnt gases to the regulating member r, so that it is also possible to lead to the mobile grid R a mixture of cold fresh air and hot burnt gases.
Finally, there is provided a bifurcation of burnt gas t passing through the regulating member u, from where a series of bifurcations (drawn in dotted lines) lead to the injectors in the furnace 0 placed advantageously between the very gas injectors. hot.
By means of this device, it is possible, according to the invention:
1) to inject the cinders into the upper hearth from the back to the front, also for lower combustion efficiencies, with the same intensity as in the case of full power, by adjusting the pressure and the speed before the injectors so that when the introduction of very hot air is reduced, a corresponding addition of burnt gases automatically takes place.
The decrease in oxygen and the increase in inert gas in the mixture produce a slowing down of combustion, and also a lowering of the temperature of the hearth.
2) to maintain in the same measure in the vortex injectors the speed necessary in the upper hearth for the separation of the ash particles from the gases;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
3) to reduce also by throttling the introduction of cold air to the mobile grate for lower combustion efficiencies. This point can be achieved by means of the device of the invention without adversely influencing the kinetic operation above the grid by mixing burnt gases with cold air.
4) to reduce in the upper hearth the temperature of the hearth when the behavior of the bottom ash in the fuel requires it, even for higher yields, which is carried out by a particular introduction of burnt gases by the injectors provided for this purpose. By operating the regulator o, the exhaust gas can be sucked in at a higher or lower temperature, and thus there is still an additional means of influencing the temperature in the hotplates.
The automatic adjustment of the installation can be carried out in a very economical and very simple manner, by carrying out a coarse adjustment in the lower hearth by operating the adjustment members v, r and x. The impulse can be given advantageously by taking the steam from the boiler. A subsequent adjustment is advantageously carried out by opening and closing, when necessary, by hand, because for complete combustion in the sleeve, an excess or a defect of air between extended limits does not harm, because one introduces the gases of the sleeve in the lower hearth and they play there only an accessory role.
Likewise, it is advantageous for the main adjustment and subsequent adjustment of the air in the zones of the mobile grille to be carried out manually or in a semi-automatic manner.
The fine adjustment in the upper hearth is advantageously carried out as a function of the excess air (CO2 content in the complete absence of CO) by the operation of the throttle member sa
A considerable increase in the economy of this installation of fireplaces and boilers appears when the pressure of the fans is increased so that it is sufficient, not only to supply the fireplace itself with air and heaters. gas, but to also compress these over the entire extent of the boiler without interposing a suction line.
If a higher overpressure is already established in the normal combustion process as a result of the high inlet velocities of the wind and the gases applied at various places, which necessitates a completely sealed caulking, the overpressure in the The furnace increases even further by having to overcome the resistances of the subsequent heating surfaces and by producing a sufficient rate of discharge of the flue gases through the chimney, so that the entire boiler must be caulked, and the pressure increase in the fireplaces, which equates to even a slight additional load, also has the effect of improving heat absorption.
The exclusion of false air introduction into the whole boiler system further improves the useful effect.
