Fig. 1 est une vue en plan, de dessous, d'une réalisation préférée de fer à cheval fabriqué conformément à l'invention;
Fig. 2 est une coupe suivant la ligne 2-2 de la fig. 1 ;

PERFECTED METHOD OF MANUFACTURING HORSESHOES.
The invention relates to an improved method of manufacturing horseshoes, more especially light alloy horseshoes, such as those used in horse racing and other equestrian competitions *
The object of the invention is to provide a simple method of manufacturing a reinforced horseshoe having improved qualities of wear resistance.
The invention consists of an improved method of manufacturing horseshoes, comprising the introduction of a hard metal strip into a groove or longitudinal groove formed in the underside of a substantially straight bar, made of light alloy, and the subsequent bending of the alloy bar to the required shape, thereby firmly holding the strip in the groove or groove.
The invention will be described below with special reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view, from below, of a preferred embodiment of a horseshoe made in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is a section taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 2, of a modified horseshoe arrangement; and, Fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 2 of a

yet another variant of a horseshoe.
According to the present invention, a straight light alloy bar, 5, is established by upsetting or creep with a longitudinal recess 6 and a longitudinal groove or groove 7 in its lower face, that is to say the face intended for coming into contact with the ground when the shoe is attached to a horse's foot.
In the recess 6 a multiplicity of holes are formed, through which can pass nails intended to fix the shoe to the horse's hoof, in the normal manner.
In the groove or longitudinal groove 7 is introduced by the edge or from the side, a hard metal strip 8 which fits intimately to the groove or groove, and the lower side is flush with the lower face of the light alloy bar. 5. After insertion of the strip, the light alloy bar 5 is bent or rolled to the suitable conformation shown in FIG. 1, with the result that the band 8 is firmly clamped or held in the groove or groove 7 by the deformation of the alloy.
In this way, a relatively very strong horseshoe is formed mainly made of a light alloy, in which, when the lower outer edge or ridge of the iron wears out, the lower edge of the hard metal strip 8 is exposed, and serves to delay the wear taken by the iron.
In the modification visible in fig. 3, the hard metal strip has the profile of a ccrnière and the flange 8a thereof is suitable for @ or flush = - come to be level with / the underside of the iron by reducing, during the process delivery or creep, the height of the light alloy bar on the outer side of the groove or longitudinal groove 7.
In the variant of FIG. 4, the strip 8.-Also has the profile of an angle iron, but in this case the wing 8a projects over the rest of the underside of the iron.
In either of these arrangements, it will be noted that a hard metal surface is presented to the ground on the outer side of the iron in order to delay wear, and in order to facilitate bending or shaping. of the strip, it may be necessary to provide a number of notches spaced apart in the flange 8 of this strip.
