Fig. 1 est une vue d'ensemble de la transmission à cardan suivant l'invention;

"Cardan transmission"
The invention relates to articulated transmissions, cardan shafts and particularly relates to a transmission of this type intended to connect a drive shaft provided on a towing vehicle and a driven shaft provided on a trailer.
In crews consisting of a tractor and one or more trailers provided with tipping skips controlled for example by means of hydraulic jacks, the pressurization of which is carried out using a pump provided on each of said trailers, the The motor shaft, provided on the tractor and the pump drive shaft, provided on the trailer, experience, during maneuvering of the tractor, relative lateral and angular displacements, often considerable, while the distance between said trees are modified simultaneously.
The object of the present invention is to establish a cardan transmission, allowing said relative movements of the engine shaft of the tractor with respect to the driven shaft of the trailer.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, the transmission is constituted by a guided shaft with longitudinal sliding in a hollow shaft, forming a slide, the opposite ends of these shafts being each joined to one of the yokes of a cardan joint, the other yoke of which is connected either to the drive shaft or to the driven shaft, the yokes of each articulation being joined by a cross, the bearings of said crosses as well as the splines of the hollow shaft, being greased under the effect of centrifugal force developed by the rotation of said transmission.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is an overall view of the cardan transmission according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along the line II-II of Fig.l, and
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a detail of this transmission.
In these drawings, a shaft 1, provided with longitudinal splines 2, slides in corresponding splines formed in the inner cylindrical face of a hollow shaft 3. The shaft 1 is provided at its outer end with an articulated yoke 4. with a cardan joint to a yoke 5, by means of a spider 6 whose journals 7 are engaged in bearings 8 supported by said yokes.
The hollow shaft 3 is provided at its outer end with a cardan joint, identical to that of the shaft 1, constituted by the yokes 4a and 5a, joined by a spider 6a, the journals 7a of which are engaged in the bearings 8a ,
The yokes 5 and 5a are provided with an axial bore 9, the inner cylindrical face of which is provided with splines 10 intended to engage corresponding splines formed on the drive and driven shafts, respectively of the tractor and the trailer.

In the braces of each cardan joint (Figs.
1 and 2) are formed lubricating ducts 11 and 11a, in communication on the one hand with the cylindrical surfaces of the journals 7 and on the other hand connected to a central lubricator 12. During the rotation of the transmission, the grease, introduced into the conduits 11 and 11 by the lubricator 12, is driven, under the effect of centrifugal force, towards the cylindrical surfaces of the journals 7, so as to automatically lubricate the said surfaces in contact with the bearings 8.
The shaft 1 is provided with an axial bore 13 (Fig. 3), into which open radial channels 14 intended for the lubrication of the sliding surfaces, formed between the telescopic shafts 1, 3, using grease. , introduced by the lubricator 15 into the axial bore 13 and driven into the channels 14, under the effect of the centrifugal force, developed during the rotation of the cardan shaft.
Thanks to the cardan transmission according to the invention, the axis of the tractor, during the maneuvers of the latter, may experience an angular displacement of up to 90, relative to the axis of the trailer (position of the elements shown in phantom lines in Fig. 1), while maintaining a perfect articulated connection between the drive shaft and the driven shaft, the relative position of which varies constantly during said maneuvers, the changes in distance between the cardan shafts being compensated for by the sliding of shaft 1 in shaft 3.
