<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
La fig.1 est une coupe axiale de l'appareil;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
du groupe de douilles tournantes qui est constitué seulement par deux douilles dans le cas présent;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"A method and apparatus for the manufacture of tubes of synthetic resin, rubber and the like, for high pressures?
The rubber tubes, synthetic resins, etc ... able to withstand high and very high pressures are manufactured by a process which comprises several successive operations by which the stars are wound on successive sleeves made up of the material. plastic, or by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
whichon is wound on these layers of plastic material very resistant son, the winding -, - annuity can also be executed in opposite directions lesunsautres. These tubes are still generally coated on the outside with a wire braid.
The operations which follow one another for the manufacture of the types of tubes mentioned above are long and expensive and require specific mechanical assemblies.
The object of the present invention is a process and an apparatus for its implementation, by which it is possible to manufacture, in a single operation, a tube capable of withstanding very high pressures without undergoing practically deformation, namely radially or longitudinally.
According to the invention, the tube is armed with son wound in a helix, inserted in its thickness, forming winding .-, ente helicals which can be some from left to right, others in the opposite direction. However, the reinforcement can also be supplemented by threads arranged in the longitudinal direction. The pitch of the propellers on the left or on the right may be the same or different and may also be such that the breaths touch each other.
With the method and apparatus which are the subject of the present invention, the successive spirals of the helices are formed continuously at the same time as the corresponding layer of the plastic tube (which is also established
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
continuously), in which they remain embedded, which makes the present process incomparably faster compared to previously known processes for the manufacture of tubes capable of withstanding high and very high internal pressures.
One of the particularly interesting applications of the tubes which form the subject of the present invention is, for example, that of flexible tubes for hydraulic transmission such as the hydraulic control of the brakes of motor vehicles.
The tube in question is preferably made of thermoplastic synthetic resins, of the vinyl type which already possess, by themselves, a notable resistance to traction and bending and which furthermore give the tube more than sufficient flexibility for all applications. to which they may be intended. The reinforcing threads incorporated in the synthetic resin tube will advantageously consist of threads of polyamide resins.
The characteristic of the apparatus for the application of the method resides essentially in the fact that the material, synthetic resin for example, is brought all around towards the wedges turning one into the other, the last inner sleeve rotating on a pivot whose extension reaches up to the exit hole of the tube to form the same hole of the latter.
We can turn these bags all around
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the same direction or in the opposite direction of the one in relation to the others depending on whether one has to create right or left propellers; they are provided with radial holes, annular grooves, annular windows allowing the passage of the material from one socket to the other and the distribution of this material even in the annular windows which extend up to a conical nozzle placed below, carried by the frame of the apparatus and leading to the outlet nozzle.
In these sockets and in the free zone between the grooves and the radial holes, there are also longitudinal holes through which pass the wires intended to constitute the reinforcement of the tube, these wires unwinding from coils mounted on discs or cones integral with the sockets same and therefore revolving with them.
The relationship between the output speed of the tube and the rotational speed of the sockets determines the pitch of the helixes of the reinforcing threads which remain inserted in the plastic material as the tube is formed.
Other features of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention:
Fig.1 is an axial section of the device;
Fig. 2 is a cross section on a larger scale
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
of the group of rotating bushings which in this case consists only of two bushings;
FIG. 3 shows schematically in axial section a layer of tube for very high pressures manufactured in accordance with the invention.
The apparatus shown is mounted on an ordinary ejection press, for example a press with one or more screws.
As we will see later, with this device, the process which characterizes the invention is completely carried out in that the tube is manufactured in a single operation, starting directly from the raw materials, that is to say from the synthetic resin and the threads of 'polyamide resin frame and immediately resulting in the finished product in a single operation.
The plastic material leaving the ejection press P is injected into the circular sleeve 1 which distributes it into the cavity 2 formed by the superimposed parts 3 and 3 'of the device and which extends to an axial duct hollowed out in these parts -êres On the upper part of this duct are mounted the superimposed bushes, respectively fitted with 5 and 6, while in the lower part narrowing in a truncated cone and ending with the outlet nozzle of the tube, this tube is formed. even. Lesdouilles and 6 can rotate on each other and the inner sleeve 6 can rotate on the pivot 18 disposed along the X - X axis of the device and the outlet nozzle.
Socket 5 is provided
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
an annular groove 7 which is located partially in front of the gap 2 and which opens into the chamber formed by the conical duct 4 in which the tube is formed. From this annular groove 7 start radial holes 8 which end in a groove 9 partially hollowed out in the sleeve 5 and partially in the sleeve 6. The groove 9 extends as far as 1a. tube formation chamber. From the groove 9 run radially, through the sleeve 6, holes 10 which end in an annular groove 11 which extends as far as the conical chamber 4 so as to let the plastic material out along the pivot 18.
Lesdouilles 5 and 6 are respectively integral with a disc 12 carrying a peripheral toothing and a funnel-shaped cone terminating in an annular plate 13 also provided with a peripheral toothing. These toothings mesh with pinions (not shown for the sake of simplicity) which are controlled so as to obtain, for the bushes 5 and 6, determined speeds of rotation, respectively to the right and to the left. In the zones which are not crossed by the radial channels numbered 8 and 10 respectively, the sockets and 6 have longitudinal holes numbered 16 and 17 respectively, through which the wires f unwind from the corresponding coils 14 and 15 mounted on the disc 12 and on c8ne 13.
The pivot 18 is carried by the sleeve 20 which crosses the device along the axis
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
X - X and is attached to the upper end of the device itself; in the internal hollow parts thereof are arranged the coils 14 and 15.
The device works as follows: while rotating the bushings respectively to the right and to the left by means of a suitable control, the ejection press P is simultaneously started which pushes the plastic material into the chamber 2 of where, at. Through lescanneluresetlestles radial, it passes in the form of tubular elements in the conical chamber 4, while at the same time formed in this chamber leshélices, respectively right and left of the son f which remain incorporated in the. mass of plastic. This material is pressed between the conical walls and the pivot 18 forming, at the outlet nozzle, the tube which already contains the helices of the reinforcing threads.
The outgoing plastic looms carry with it the very threads which unwind from the spools.
If we were also to provide longitudinal reinforcement threads, we would insert in the set of s rotating bushings 5 and 6 a fixed bush naturally provided with splines and radial holes for the passage of the plastic material and, also, of longitudinal holes for these reinforcing wires which will also be drawn in by the plastic material and will remain incorporated in the tube.
The shape and construction details of the device may of course be different from those which have been
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
described and shown by way of example, the essential characteristics of the invention remaining unchanged.
