<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Bicycle brake enhancements"
The present invention relates to bicycle brakes of the type of those whose jaws, articulated or each about a fixed axis, generally welded to the oadre.are controlled at their upper part by a deformable diamond whose two sides which support the sheath
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the control cable each have an angularly offset extension.
These brakes are recognized as providing progressive, powerful and flexible braking, but they nevertheless have certain drawbacks which the present invention proposes to remedy.
In fact, 'in these brakes, despite the presence of return spells, generally spiral and placed on the fixed pivots of the jaws, these do not always return to occupy, at rest, a position that is strictly symmetrical with respect to the plane. rim, which happens in particular if one of the joints is less free for one of the jaws than for the other, resulting in one of the pieces constantly rubbing against the rim.
On the other hand, in particular if the aforementioned return spiral springs do not perfectly fulfill their function, the various constituent parts of the deformable diamond control jaws start to vibrate.
The present invention relates to a brake, of the type referred to above with control of the jaws by a deformable diamond, having all the advantages without having the disadvantages thereof.
It is essentially characterized in that the elbow extension of the jaw control rod sets comprises a stopper which, in the released position, engages on the jawbones and temporarily suppresses the articulation they have on them, so that the brake is, in short, formed only of two rigid rods connected between folds at their top and individually to their respective pivot, which constitutes a perfectly undeformable triangle since these
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
pivots are at a fixed distance from each other.
The brake is thus forcing the action of the spring, or return springs, to return to an immutable fixed position.
These stops obviously move away from the jaws and - release the joints as soon as the surte braking action starts, that the brake immediately regains all its qualities and resumes its four-joint operation with a degree of freedom sufficiently extended for allow the jaws to follow the profile of the edema rim if the rim is warped.
The preoité arrangement, object of the present invention, further allows to remove the springs. recall individual spirals placed, with their adjusting rings on, the pivots themselves and replace them with a single coil spring working in traction and connecting the upper part of the two jaws to each other.
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the invention. lafig. I represents the brake at rest, that is to say in the released position: fig. 2 represents it in. contrary in .de clamping position, According to the known arrangement, this brake comprises a. deformable rhombus composed of two links a and b articulated one on the other by a pin 1 and two other links. and d also articulated one on the other by an axis at the same time that they are connected by articulation 3 and 4 on the two other links a and b.
The latter each comprising an elbow extension, respectively al and bl, and these extensions are coupled by joints 5 and 6 to the jaws e and f mounted

According to the invention, the prolongeuents ail and)) 1- rods a; t 'o comprise a stop or notch IL -., B 2 Illl, coming, in the released position, to rest on the jaws' and i (fiG- .l) and thus temporarily suppress the axes of rotation 5 and 6 which can no longer continue to play. Now, since those 7 and 8 are at a fixed distance from each other, we have, in faic , a triancle rixiareaseraent undeformable and the brake thus always returns under the action of the spring m which will be discussed below in a perfectly fixed position, the two pads being equidistant from the median plane of the rim 1.
