Circuit breaker base for electric irons.
It has been observed that the irons'. Electric ironers have the disadvantage of overheating during the interruptions caused by all ironing, both domestic and industrial. In addition, for lack of an adequate utensil, users of irons are tempted to lay it either bare on a corner of the ironing board or board, or on a piece of wrapping paper or simply on a newspaper folded over. himself.
No need to insist on the great danger presented by this way of working.
The object of the present invention is to construct a simple, robust and practical apparatus, which categorically overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages while ensuring appreciable power saving, and which will be of great use in any household and in ironing shops.
In this case, it is a circuit breaker base, having the shape of a flat frame, and intended to receive the iron momentarily at rest.
The invention essentially consists in that the base is provided with an automatic circuit breaker operating under the weight of the iron and that it can be adapted to any model of existing iron and to any voltage.

The accompanying drawings show the invention systematically with the aid of an exemplary embodiment, all parts of which are clearly detailed.
Figure 1 shows the plinth completely assembled.
It essentially consists of a metal casing A (sheet metal, tin, etc., raw, chrome, enamelled, etc. or not) intended to serve as a fulcrum for the iron at rest and to protect the metal. - circuit breaker canism that it covers.
The upper part of the frame is pierced with an opening C, through which, protruding, the control element D of the circuit breaker mechanism will pass.
The edges of the upper face of the tray will be slightly raised from the flat surface in order to provide the irons with greater stability.
The side faces will be provided over the entire circumference with perforations or "openings" E which will limit the propagation by contact of the heat coming from the iron,
The lower edges of the four side faces will be curved, as shown in F, and drilled holes G allowing the fixing of the box described above to the base B which will be detailed below.
Figure 2 gives a schematic representation of the base and the circuit breaker system.
It can be executed in any rigid insulating material, such as ebonite, bakelite, etc.
On the base B, which also acts as a backdrop to the casing A, will be fixed or cast so as to form one body with it, the supports necessary for the circuit breaker as well as for the electrical connection elements.
The circuit breaker is a first category lever made of porcelain or any other dielectric material that cannot be deformed under the effect of heat. It has an N-shaped fulcrum, made up of a screw or a pin, around which it can turn with a noticeable friction direction.
On one side it carries a control element D, preferably

rence in the shape of a demi-sere, which will pass freely through the opening C of the upper face of the frame
On the other side it carries an electrical contact tip J capable of a means for electrical connection.
Opposite J is placed on the same base another contact tip K, also porous of an electrical connection means.
A compressible spring M, housed between the control arm of the lever and the base of the base and held in place thanks to two eyebolts arranged reciprocally, one in the lever and the other in the base at the appropriate places, will facilitate the return in contact contact tips and ensure their stability.
The contact tip K is electrically connected to one of the terminals H to the supply network, the tip J to one of the terminals I to the iron.
FIG. 9 shows the diagram of the electrical connections between the different constituent elements of the circuit breaker base.
As can be seen, one of the supply terminals H is connected directly to one of the output terminals I; Between the other two terminals HI is interposed the circuit breaker device: H is electrically connected to the tip K while J is connected by means of a flexible strand to the second output terminal to the iron.
The contact points J and K are connected on both sides to a capacitor of determined capacity o arranged as a shunt on the circuit breaker.
This capacitor has the effect of absorbing the spark of rupture and contact which would occur between the points J and K during the operation of the circuit breaker. It thus eliminates any cause of parasite and prevents deterioration of the J and K points.
Figure 4 shows the practical adaptation of the circuit breaker base.
As we can notice the device is connected in H
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to the supply current by means of a portable connector provided with a male plug for its adaptation to any socket, and a female plug for its connection to the base.
In 1, the base is provided with a socket or a similar device for plugging in the iron cord.
Thanks to its design, the circuit breaker base, as described above, is of minimal bulk and extremely manageable; It can be placed anywhere on the ironing board or board, at the user's convenience.
