BREVET D 'INVENTION.

PATENT.
'' Elastic roller
The present invention relates to rollers used as elastic binding elements in disc couplings, suspension hinges, vehicle-supporting spring pivots, etc. The function of the elastic roller in the fasteners mentioned above. above is sup- '. wear and absorb shock as well as compensate for precision defects in machining and assembly.
The elastic rollers known heretofore, employed in disc couplings, are made of chone -or leather. And have a cylindrical ton and are mounted on an inner steel housing with which the rollers are introduced on the. pivots, control.
To facilitate assembly and limit faults in precision, the rollers have a clearance of about 0.5 to 1 cm on the pivots and on the outside diameter,
As a result of this play, the control pivots are subjected, in operating conditions where frequent shocks are present to considerable force and rapid wear, and the rollers at the outer circumference and these must therefore be replaced after a relatively short period of employment.
@ By using elastic rollers according to the

present invention the drawbacks contained above are eliminated by providing one of the roller housings with a conical seat surface such that the roller is clamped on the chamfered part of one of the members to be connected.
FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawing shows the use of a roller according to the invention in an elastic coupling. The roller itself consists in this case of an internal housing 1, an external housing 2 and a rubber layer 3 which is fixedly connected (by vulcanization or by pressing) to the internal surface of the housings. The exterior surface of the housing is conical. The roller is disposed axially on the control pivot 4 and is clamped into engagement with the opening 5 of the coupling by means of a nut which gives it a solid seat.
Defects in manufacturing precision (such as a lack of co-axiality, mutual displacement of the openings and the pivots) are then compensated for by the deformation of the inner rubber lining 3 of the rollers.
In FIG. 2 the arrangement of the roller is such that its outer housing 7 is cylindrical on its outer surface and that the inner housing 8 has a conical opening through which it is mounted on the conical pivot. This arrangement also makes axial expansion possible.
