Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Magnetic recording process on cinematographic or other films.
The invention relates to a method of recording sound on films.
The existing processes, with a view to recording sounds on films, use the photographic or mechanical method.
The invention aims to obtain a recording of sounds by freeing themselves from chemical or mechanical processes.
The result is obtained by the incorporation into the support or optionally into the gelatin of extremely fine particles of high remanence metal (FIG. I).
The distribution of these particles will be homogeneous.
The thinness of these same particles and their spacing will depend on the maximum frequencies to be recorded. This process allows the particles to be polarized along a line perpendicular to the edge of the film (Fig. II).
The means of obtaining the polarization of the particles or of the reproduction of the recorded sounds are known, being applied for many years, when it is necessary to resort to the methods of magnetic recording on metallic wires.
The advantages of the present invention over the usual methods of sound recording on films are, in principal order, the following:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
1.- High recording quality.
2.- Possibility of adding sound to a film after development of the image part.
3.- Possibility of deleting the existing recording and replacing it with a new recording an infinite number of times.
4.- Possibility of superimposing a new recording on the existing recording, for example: comments, background noise, etc ...
5.- Possibility, by the very principle, of obtaining extremely narrow tracks and this by concentrating the magnetic flux.
This advantage allows a) the use of mu @ iles tracks on normal sound films. b) the sound system on very narrow films where until now space was lacking for a photographic or mechanical recording. c) for special purposes the recording of a considerable number of tracks on a
