<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Further development to tabular air heaters.
The present invention relates to improvements to tubular air heaters and aims to improve the calorific efficiency of such apparatus.
According to the invention, the reheater is formed of two blocks working in parallel and each comprising a bundle of tubes arranged vertically and traversed internally by the gases or by the fumes and there is provided in each block over the entire width and on the inside. the whole length of the block, one or more horizontal baffles so as to create over the height of each element sections giving rise for the air to successive paths in horizontal direction, but in opposite directions.
In the practical realization of the invection, the various air paths are interconnected by external fixed covers in which it is possible to provide fixed guide vanes and / or orientable so as to perw

allow the air to effectively fill almost the entire surface of each compartment.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example and without limitation how the invention can be put into practice.
Figure 1 is a schematic view illustrating the principle arrangement underlying the invention.
Figure 2 is a view partially in horizontal section and partially in plan of a heater constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figures 3, 4 and b are detail views showing the attachment of the plates forming the baffle to the tubes of the heater.
A heater established in accordance with the invention consists of two blocks 1 and II working in parallel and each comprising a bundle of tubes 1 arranged vertically and traversed internally by the gases or fumes either from top to bottom or from the inside. down up (arrows F, fig.
1 and 2).
The air passes through the apparatus perpendicular to the tubes, but, in a manner also according to the invention, one or more horizontal baffles are provided over the entire width and over the entire length of each element 1 or 11. 2 so as to create, on the height of each element, sections III, IV, etc. or III @, IV ', etc. .. giving rise for the air to successive paths in opposite directions.
The different routes III, IV, etc. or III ', IV', etc. are connected to each other by external covers 3.
Under these conditions, if we consider the example shown, the air supplied from the outside is directed by ducts 4 (fig.l) so as to come into contact with the tubes 1 over the entire height of the section III or he! ' then it traverses this section horizontally and is then deflected
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
down through the outer cover 3 so as to travel through section IV or IV 'in the opposite direction and to be discharged through the sheath 5 (arrows F1).
From section IV, the air could however be directed by a cover provided at 5 onto another section in which the tubes would be touched by the air in the same direction as for section III.
In the hoods 3, there are advantageously provided fixed guide vanes 6 and / or orientable 7 so as to allow the air to fill, in an efficient manner, almost the whole of the heating surface of each compartment.
Movable deflector vanes at 71 can also be provided at the air inlet.
The baffles 2 can be formed by sheets which are fixed to the tubes 1 and, for this purpose, the sheet can be provided on its lower face with parallel ribs 8 on which are fixed, by nuts 9, on both sides. other of certain tubes 11 of the same row, horizontal rods 10 on the end of which a collar 11 takes the shape of the tube on the side opposite to the rib 8 and tightened against the latter by nuts 12 engaging the rods 10.
As shown by the drawings, there will in general be such a rib 8 near two parallel edges of the sheet 2.
One or more other ribs 8 will also exist between these edge ribs.
By virtue of the arrangement described, a better transmission of heat from the gases to the air is obtained, since it is certain that in each section the air will come into contact with the full extent of the gases. different tubular elements and that the amount of heat captured will be maximum.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Experience shows, moreover, that such heaters have a heat transmission coefficient which is appreciably higher than in known devices.
It is thus possible, in a given installation, to reduce to an appreciable extent the space occupied by the heating elements.
