Abstract
Description
Improvements to devices for recovering calories from the fumes coming from gas boilers.
The invention relates to devices for recovering some of the residual calories contained in the fumes leaving a gas boiler after having yielded most of their calories to a stream of water vertically traversing from bottom to top a heat exchanger heat - called "main" exchanger in the following - itself traversed by this stream of water.
It relates more particularly, but not exclusively, to the case where the main exchanger is constituted by a relatively flat and thin structure extending horizontally, traversed horizontally by the water to be heated, and having a low resistance to its vertical crossing by gases, said structure itself being preferably constituted by a horizontal coil traversed by 1 water to be heated and composed of different parallel rectilinear strands connected together by semicircular bends, these rectilinear strands themselves being braced by plates parallel verticals of conductive metal forming fins.
It is known that the updraft of smoke leaving such a main exchanger contains water in the form of vapor, given its relatively high temperature, generally between 100 and 2000C.
When these fumes are cooled below the dew temperature - generally around 600C - at which water begins to condense in them, they give up the calories that were used to vaporize this water, c that is to say its latent heat of vaporization.
I1 has already been proposed to recover these calories by passing through the fumes to cool an auxiliary exchanger.
However, the embodiments proposed to date for such auxiliary exchangers had a certain number of drawbacks and in particular the following
- because of the pressure drop undergone by the flue gases passing through such an auxiliary exchanger, it was necessary to provide a special mechanical extraction device to evacuate these fumes after having made them pass through this exchanger,
- The collection of the condensed water formed on said exchanger posed problems because this water must not fall on this main exchanger and, through it, on the flames of the hearth of the boiler and that said exchanger is intended for cool the fumes leaving the main exchanger, that is to say circulating just above the latter.
The object of the invention is, above all, to eliminate these drawbacks and further, in preferred embodiments, to simplify the construction and maintenance of the recovery devices considered.
To this end, the recovery devices in question according to the invention are essentially characterized in that their auxiliary exchanger is constituted by a relatively flat and thin structure having a low resistance to its crossing by the gases perpendicular to its mean plane, said structure being oriented in such a way that its mean plane is inclined to the vertical by an angle of less than 45 "and preferably zero and being disposed directly above a receiving range of condensed water separated horizontally from the main exchanger.
In preferred embodiments, use is made of one and / or the other of the following provisions.
- the exchanger. auxiliary is constituted by a structure identical to that of the main exchanger,
- the auxiliary exchanger consists of two structures identical to that of the main exchanger,
the auxiliary exchanger consists of a coil, the different parallel rectilinear strands of which are braced between them by parallel plates forming fins,
a box is provided for collecting the fumes leaving vertically upwards from the main exchanger and for folding them horizontally so as to introduce them into the auxiliary exchanger perpendicular to its mean plane,
the flue guide box between the outlet of the main exchanger and the inlet of the auxiliary exchanger is subdivided into several parallel corridors by intermediate partitions so that the fumes to be cooled are distributed over the whole of the inlet surface of the auxiliary exchanger,
- the number of intermediate partitions is equal to two, which defines three contiguous corridors for smoke,
a box is provided downstream of the auxiliary exchanger to orient the fumes leaving this exchanger upwards and to guide them to an upper mouth of this box,
- The assembly constituted by the auxiliary exchanger and by the two boxes suitable for guiding the fumes respectively upstream and downstream of this exchanger forms an independent whole capable of being mounted on top of a conventional boiler freed of its anti repress.
The invention includes, apart from these main provisions, certain other provisions which are preferably used at the same time and which will be more explicitly discussed below.
In what follows, a preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the attached drawing, of course, in a non-limiting manner.
Figure 1 of this drawing shows in vertical section a calorie recovery device established in accordance with the invention.
La figure 2 est un schéma explicatif. Figure 2 is an explanatory diagram.
In a manner known per se, the gas boiler to be fitted comprises a heating body 1, the upper part of which is occupied by a heat exchanger 2 designated below by the expression "main exchanger".
This exchanger has the general shape of a relatively flat and thin horizontal rectangular lattice traversed horizontally by water to be heated and offering a low resistance to its crossing by the upward vertical gas stream of combustion or "smoke" F products. of the boiler.
It is advantageously constituted by a "fin block" 1, that is to say by a coil 3 traversed by the water to be heated, composed of a plurality of parallel rectilinear strands connected together by semi-circular bends and braced by parallel vertical plates 4 forming fins.
It is the fumes F escaping vertically from the top of this exchanger 2 that it is proposed to cool according to the invention in order to recover an appreciable part of the residual calories which they process therefrom.
For this purpose, recourse is had, according to the invention, to a second heat exchanger 5, or "auxiliary" exchanger, having the general shape of a relatively flat and thin lattice traversed by water to be preheated, according to a trajectory parallel to its mean plane, in an appropriate sealed circuit, and offering low resistance to its crossing by the gases in the direction perpendicular to said mean plane.
In other words, the gases passing through this exchanger in this direction perpendicular to the mean plane of the exchanger, that is to say in the direction of the smallest dimension or "thickness" of said exchanger, undergo only one low pressure drop during this crossing.
It should be noted that, in the auxiliary exchangers in question, just as in the main exchangers described above, the directions of travel taken respectively by the two fluids participating in the exchange (smoke and water) are "crossed", that is that is to say perpendicular to each other, instead of being parallel to each other and in opposite directions as is the case for exchanges against the current.
Although it is not essential, it is particularly advantageous to constitute the auxiliary exchanger in the same way as the main exchanger, and in particular by a coil 6 traversed by the water to be preheated and whose parallel rectilinear strands are connected between them by semi-circular bends and braced by parallel plates 7 of conductive metal forming fins.
These two main 2 and auxiliary 5 exchangers can even be completely identical to each other.
The mean plane of the auxiliary exchanger 5 is oriented in a direction inclined to the vertical by an angle at most equal to 450, this angle possibly being zero, as in the illustrated embodiment.
Furthermore, said auxiliary exchanger is placed horizontally away from the main exchanger 2 and in such a way that its base is located substantially at the same level as this main exchanger.
There are also plans
- A first box 8 to receive the fumes F leaving vertically from the exchanger 2, above it, and to fold their trajectory so as to send them to the auxiliary exchanger 5 in a horizontal direction or at least perpendicular to the medium plan of this exchanger,
- And a second box 9 to receive the fumes leaving this exchanger 5 and to straighten their trajectory so as to guide them towards an upper mouth 10 oriented upwards
The upstream lower end of the first box 8 is arranged so that it can be easily mounted on the top of the heating body l, for example by fitting and bolting, and the upper downstream end of the second box 9 is arranged so that it can be easily connected to an evacuation chimney by means of a standard draft or backflow preventer.
The box 9 can itself be arranged in the usual way in a drain pot intended to collect the residual condensates which may form in the chimney.
To ensure relatively uniform sweeping of the inlet face of the auxiliary exchanger 5 by the flue gases F which must pass through it, the first box is advantageously divided into several neighboring corridors using partitions 11.
These partitions are preferably constituted by inclined flat sheets and extended at their lower end by an upstream pan 111 vertical and at their upper end by a downstream pan 112 horizontal or substantially horizontal.
The number of corridors thus delimited is advantageously three as illustrated, but it could be smaller or larger as required.
Below the auxiliary exchanger 5 extends a trough 12 suitable for collecting by gravity the condensates formed on this exchanger by the cooling of the fumes which pass through it: in the illustrated embodiment for which the exchanger is oriented vertically, this trough 12 is relatively narrow.
As can be seen in FIG. 2, the boiler considered is generally intended for heating water circulating in a closed central heating circuit comprising, in addition to connection pipes 13, a circulation pump 14, heating elements 15 such as floors heaters or radiators, and the two heat exchangers above.
The order in which these exchangers pass through the heating return water is first the auxiliary exchanger 5 and then the main exchanger 2.
This water returns from the heating elements 15 at a relatively low temperature, in particular of the order of 20 to 400 ° C., while the temperature of the fumes F to be cooled reaching the auxiliary exchanger 5 is generally still greater than 1000 ° C.
Contact of these still hot fumes with the relatively cold metal surfaces of the exchanger 5 has the effect of cooling said fumes to dew temperature, which condenses the water vapor contained in these fumes on said surfaces, yielding to these surfaces the latent heat of condensation of this vapor.
The water circulating in the exchanger S is thus effectively preheated and the overall efficiency of the boiler is significantly increased, which allows energy savings.
The calorie recovery device described above also has a number of advantages over those previously known, in particular the following
- due to the very low pressure drop undergone by the fumes to be cooled during their passage through the auxiliary exchanger, it is unnecessary to provide a special extractor such as a fan to evacuate these fumes, the natural draft sufficient for this indeed this is an important advantage of the present invention,
- as the auxiliary exchanger is horizontally spaced from the main exchanger, there is no risk that condensation water formed on this auxiliary exchanger by the cooling of the fumes falls by gravity on the main exchanger and, at through him, on the flames,
- in the case where, as illustrated, the auxiliary exchanger is oriented vertically, the trough for collecting this condensation water can be very narrow given the small overall horizontal dimension that. then present this exchanger,
- The recovery device considered can be very easily adapted on existing boilers, without modification thereof; it can therefore be considered as a particularly interesting "accessory" to these boilers, which can be offered as an option to buyers of them,
- In the embodiments where the auxiliary exchanger is constituted by a structure identical to that constituting the main exchanger, the manufacturing and maintenance problems are considerably simplified.
As goes without saying, and as it already follows from the above, the invention is in no way limited to those of its modes of application and embodiments which have been more especially envisaged, it embraces it, on the contrary, all variants, including
- those where the auxiliary exchanger would consist of two units identical to that constituting the main exchanger, these two units being arranged laterally one next to the other, or vertically one above the 'other, or even parallel to one another so as to be crossed one after the other by the fumes to be cooled,
- those where the auxiliary exchanger would be constituted according to the same principle as the main exchanger, but with a different exchange surface, for example above,
- those where the auxiliary exchanger would still be constituted by a relatively flat and thin structure offering a low resistance to its crossing by a gas perpendicular to its mean plane, but constructed otherwise than the main exchanger,
- those where the mean plane of the auxiliary exchanger would be inclined to the vertical, in one or the other direction, the top of this exchanger being able to be horizontally closer or more distant than its base from the main exchanger.
