1) sa confection ne nécessite ni collage, ni couture, ni agrafage;
2) elle peut être découpée, tracée, refoulée, encochée en une seule opération;
3) un nouveau système de verrouillage de deux côtés adjacents quelconques l'un par l'autre 'permet de monter, chez l'usager, cette boite préalablement pliée suivent le tracé de l'invention sans aucun collage, ni couture, ni agre- fage, ce verrouillage résistant à l'étirement des cotes juqqu'à la rupture du carton;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Pour prolongement comprend successivement une face 4 à relever perpendiculrement au les petits côtés, chaque/fond autour de la droite 2, une face 6 à rabattre vers l'intérieur perpendiculairement au fond autour de la droite 8 et un rebord 10 repliable vers l'extérieur autour de la droite 12 et destiné à s'appliquer con- tre le fond 1;

PROCESS FOR MAKING A BOX.! '': FOLDING IN
CARTON WITHOUT GLUING MID STAPLING The object of the invention is a process for manufacturing a folding box (bottom, cover or both boxes) in protically indeformable cardboard, the characteristics of which are as follows:
1) its making does not require gluing, sewing or stapling;
2) it can be cut, drawn, repressed, notched in a single operation;
3) a new locking system of any two adjacent sides one by the other 'makes it possible to mount, at the user's premises, this previously folded box following the outline of the invention without any gluing, sewing, or pleating. fage, this locking resistant to the stretching of the sides juqqu'à rupture of the cardboard;
4) all the sides of the box are doubled over their entire surface in the direction of interruption, so that the invention makes it possible to use for the manufacture of the box a cardboard twice as light as that usually used without for,) this in no way reduce the resistance to sagging.

In addition: =, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the parts to be raised from the neighboring sides are kept united at each angle by an uncut corner which is only folded inwards along a diagonal and is applied between the two sides on one side of the angle, maintaining this corner helps to strengthen the box and gives a better exterior appearance (the box to the uncle since we see two folds, but no sharp edge.
However, to avoid the diagonal fold, the layout of which requires the passage of the sheet on a, chine specially designed for this purpose, we

may, while allowing the wedge to remain, provide a cut between it and the side not provided with the tab and this wedge will then apply without bending inside this side. We could also remove the wedge completely, but

this u: rni: 'e solution does not seem to be recommended, because the resistance obtained is clear suspension ..; - 11 "t Join the external appearance of the box less satisfactory, since the folding would leave t L'Lyparui be on the outside each corner two sharp ridges.
The box thus obtained is closed by a cover manufactured by any method, but preferably by that used for making the box.
Some embodiments of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 1 is a view of the cut cardboard sheet bearing the fold lines indicated in broken lines; FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the box obtained after folding; FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing the addition of a glued cover, and FIG. 4 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment comprising a box and its cover obtained by simple folding from a single cardboard blank.
We see in Figure 1 the development of the box, consisting of the cut cardboard sheet, traced and notched, which is used to make this box obtained by simple folding. The rectangular bottom of the box has been indicated at 1, and the small sides of this bottom have been indicated at 2, while the long sides have been indicated at 3. Beyond each of the sides 2-3, the bottom is extended by parts intended to constitute the sides of the box.
For extension successively comprises a face 4 to be raised perpendicularly to the short sides, each / bottom around the straight line 2, a face 6 to be folded inwards perpendicular to the bottom around the straight line 8 and a flange 10 which folds outwards around the straight line 12 and intended to rest against the bottom 1;
for the long sides, each extension likewise comprises a face 5 to be raised perpendicular to the bottom around the straight line 3, a face 7 to be folded inwards around the straight line 9 and a flange 11 which folds outwards around the line. straight 13 and intended to rest against the bottom
1, but the face 7 carries at each of its ends a tab 14 which folds outwards around the straight line 15 so as to be introduced during the folding between the faces 4-6 of the adjacent small side, its edge 20 coming from the side. 'align to line
2.
The faces 4-6 are rectangles having for length that of the small side of the box and for width the height of the box and the faces 5-7 are rectangles of the same width whose length is that of the large side of the box ; the flanges 10-11 have the same length as the corresponding sides, but their width is preferably quite small.
In the preferred embodiment, the faces 4-5 of two adjacent sides are joined together at an angle to the box by an uncut square corner 16 which can be folded, preferably between the faces 4-6, around the straight lines 17. -18 and folds in two on itself inwards around the diagonal 19.
The corners can also be folded between the faces 5-7, but, the assembly then presenting a certain difficulty, the preceding solution is preferred.

The pliOG, e, 0 la j.'euil IL ,, (the cardboard for obtaining the box can be carried out as indicated below. By placing it in front of one of the small sides, we raises the soft parts 5 of the long sides, then the private parts 7 are folded inside; then the legs 14 adjacent to the small side in front of which we are operating are folded in, so as to bring these legs back along the right 2 and in
EMI4.2
at the same time, we fold / two the corners 16 along their diagonal by raising part 4 of the pz.li.1 side, then we fold part 6 of this small side by enclosing the corners 16 and pat The 14; Finally, the rims 11 are raised to apply the rim 10 on the small side where the operation is carried out against the bottom, then the rims 11 are planed on this rim 10.
We then turn the box over so as to be 2-it on the small opposite side that we can fold in exactly the same way. The folding is then finished and we obtain the box shown in Figure 2.
EMI4.3
It is easy to see that each j: e% 1.% side, trapping the legs 14 of the large adjacent sides, etap8ctm the Keying of these, while reci- r5ro., Ueu: ent check ledge 11 willingly in rib, by applying on the edges 10 acs small ribs el: 1peach the unfolding of these. It is this double reciprocal locking which constitutes the essential characteristic of the invention. On the other hand, maintaining the corners 16 significantly strengthens the strength of the box at its angles at the same time as it ensures a satisfactory exterior appearance.
One could, without departing from the scope of the invention, switch the roles of the short sides and the long sides and then provide the tabs 14 at the ends of the short sides; we would also engage the ledges of the long sides under the ledges of the short sides and the obtained result would be similar.

ga angles would be less satisfactory, since the bending would leave
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
-Be the two sharp edges 17-18, leaving a gap between them in front of the fold
13 of tab 14.
The cover of the box is preferably cut, traced, notched and mounted according to the same process. However, one could provide a cover of a different type and conversely the cover could be established according to the invention, while the box would be of another type.
One could also combine the cover and the box in an inseparable whole. Thus, for example, according to the embodiment of FIG. 3, one could glue any side 21 of the cover 22 on one of the sides to be folded up 6 or 7 of the box established in accordance with the invention.
Instead of using a cover attached by gluing, the box and cover can be obtained from a single cardboard blank without gluing or stapling; for this purpose, it suffices to replace the parts 7-11 forming the inner face of one of the sides and its rim by a wider prolog 23 forming a cover, the tabs 14 on the same side being replaced by parts 24 forming the sides. cover (figure 4). The two corners opposite the cover are then mounted as in the case of Figure 2, while the side 5 of the box adjacent to the cover is simply raised and has only one single. cardboard thickness, the corners adjacent to this side 5 being further folded between the faces 4-6 of the neighboring sides.
The locking is less complete, since, on the side of the cover, the rim 11 no longer exists and no longer maintains the rims 10, but it is however sufficient for the box to hold when it is full, especially since the closure of the box provides an auxiliary locking thanks to the action of the free edges 25 of the sides 24 which come to rest on the edges 10.
It would also be possible, by using a separate cover, to join the cover to the box not by gluing as in the case of figure 3, but by folding by inserting tabs integral with the cover inside the sides of the box. , during the assembly thereof. For this purpose, one of the sides 21 of the cover would be applied against one of the faces to be folded down 6 or 7 1 of the box as in the case of FIG. 3, and this side would be extended at its ends by tabs which would overlap. to the legs 14 of the face
6 or @ so as to be able to be folded at the same time as these tabs 14 inside the adjacent sides of the box; the side 21 could still in this case be extended by a rim which would be superimposed on the rim 11 of the face to be folded down of the box.
