<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Liquid dispenser"
The present invention relates to an apparatus for the distribution of liquids, that is to say a cabin containing the various devices for pumping, measuring and dispensing liquid, said cabin and said devices being designed, combined and arranged so as to ensure safe and precise operation of the apparatuses while allowing their easy accessibility and disassembly, for purposes of verification, repair or rapid replacement.
The characteristics of the invention will emerge more clearly during the description given below with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

quick disassembly of the illuminated globe.
As shown in Fig. 1, the entire apparatus is enclosed in a cabin 10 formed of four uprights 11 to which are fixed frames 12 supporting the various measuring and dispensing skulls which will be described in detail below, as well as the trigger movement switch 13, the outlet pipe 14 with its flexible pipe 15 and the shut-off valve 16.
This cabin 10 is closed by side panels 17 and 17a and removable front and rear doors 18 and 18a independent of the device itself, the panels 17 and 17a being fixed to the uprights 11 by means of nuts engaging the threaded rods 17b integral with these panels, while the doors 18 and 18a are hung by their arms 18b to hinges fixed to the uprights 11.
This simplicity of assembly of the doors and panels of the cabin allows their easy removal, so that tests or repairs of the device can be carried out with all panels and doors removed. This therefore results in a very great ease of access to the various parts of the apparatus to be checked, repaired or replaced.
On the other hand, since these panels and doors are interchangeable, they can be painted or enamelled separately and placed on the device last. This easy interchangeability also makes it possible to immediately replace one or more damaged panels or doors with state-of-the-art concrete panels, without interrupting the service of the device and without requiring painting work on the road.
The measuring device, which this cabin comprises and which is shown in detail in Figs. 3 and 4 consists essentially of a meter body 19 comprising two bores intended to receive the piston guides 20, which are mounted so as to be easily replaced.
In each of these guides and under the pressure of the liquid moves a piston in two parts 21 and 21a assembled by bolts and enclosing between them a flexible seal 22 of suitable material ensuring the required seal, The two pistons 21, of which only one appears in the drawing, since they are both located in the same plane, are each coupled with a rod 23 with a ball joint 24. each rod 23 being connected to an eccentric pin or crank pin 25 of a crankshaft 26 by a bearing ball joint 27, this ball joint mounting of the two ends of the connecting rod facilitating assembly and ensuring the proper functioning of the members which are joined therein. The arms of the two crankshafts are, as shown in FIG. 5, set at 900 relative to each other, to avoid dead spots.
Each crankshaft 26 is carried by a shaft 28 to which the reciprocating movement
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tif pistons 21 impart a rotational movement, which is transmitted by les'pignons 29 to. the reduction gear 30 which controls. both the distribution spool 31 by the gear 32 and the marker mechanism by the shaft 33,
As shown particularly in FIG.
4, the body of the measurer carries at its upper part a removable seat 34 on which rotates the rotary slide 31, suitably ground, which controls the admission and the outlet of the liquid according to the corresponding position of the pistons and the connecting rods and, by opening and by alternately fenmant communication orifices, allows the entry and exit of the liquid and consequently the setting in motion of the pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts and, consequently, the rotation of the shafts 28. the operation of this measuring device takes place as follows:
Under the pressure of the pump 35 (Fig. 1), the liquid enters through the opening 36, fills the chamber 37 and, through the opening 38 of the rotary slide 31, (Fig. 5), enters the chamber. cylinder 39 taking the path indicated by the arrows x (Fig. 5). The liquida then pushes in front of it the corresponding piston 21 which; by means of its connecting rod 23 drives the corresponding crank pin 25 in a rotary movement around the shaft 28.
During this time and as shown in particular in FIG. 5, the liquid which filled the chamber 40 is automatically expelled by following the path indicated by the arrow y, escapes through the opening 38a of the rotary spool, and reaches the outlet opening 41 leading to the connecting duct of the flexible pipe.
Bous the action of the gears 29 and 30 and of the gear 33 controlling the rotary slide 31, the crankshaft, continuing its' stroke has forced this rotary slide to operate a proportional displacement. As a result of this movement, the opening and closing windows of the drawer 31 have changed their position relative to the seat 34 and have been brought in front of the opposite openings, that is to say the opening 38 which communicated with the entrance to the chamber 37 has now come to be placed opposite the opening 40; the liquid can be introduced therein and push the piston back in the opposite direction with, as a consequence, the expulsion towards the outlet 41, of the liquid which filled the chamber 39a.
These two successive operations are reproduced identically by the pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts of the second cylinder or of the other cylinders in the case where there are more than two.
It should be noted that the covers 42 which laterally close the meter body 19 are provided with orifices 4a allowing
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
emptying the device before dismantling it or checking or repairing some of its components, said openings being closed, during operation, by plugs 43 and screws 44.
The adjustment of the quantities of liquid measured by the displacement of the pistons 21 is obtained by an increase or a decrease in the stroke of the latter and consequently in the volume of their displacement. This adjustment can be made easily by turning on itself, in the direction required for the correction, the crank pin 25. which is established in time in the form of an eccentric pivot, the setting in position of this pivot being obtained by the cooperation of the hexagon collar 45, carried by said pivot, one side of which is always embedded in a notch 25a of the crank 25.
The meter body 19 is closed at its upper part by a bell or independent cover 46 fixed by screws 47 and housing the distribution mechanism. The simple removal of this cover therefore makes it possible to easily adjust the movement of the distribution or check it.
As shown in Fig. 1, the bell or cover 46 is provided with two inlet openings 48 and 48a arranged respectively to the right and to the left, of the device, so as to allow the connection of the measuring device to the air separator, of one side or the other depending on convenience, and without having to make any modification to the device.
It should be noted that the distribution spool 31 is driven at its upper part by two tocs 49 integral with the gear 32 and each provided with a helical spring 50 resiliently pressing the spool 31 on its seat 34. The spool drive 31 and the elastic application of the latter on its seat 34 may moreover, according to the invention, be produced in the manner shown in FIG. 6, according to which the spool 31 is elastically driven by flat spring strips 51 supported by the body of the drive gear 32 and engaging the drive slots of the spool 31, the latter being able to be resiliently applied to its seat 34 by the elastic strips 52.
Before accessing this dispensing and measuring device, the liquid passes through the air separator 53 into which it is sent by the pump 35 which withdraws it from the tank.
As shown in Fig. 7, the pump body 35 comprises the propeller chamber 54, the filter 55 and the suction pipe 56. the filter 55 has a large section and can be removed, for cleaning, by simply releasing it manually. the central nut
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
fixing 57, of appropriate shape.
The propeller wheel 58 comprises vanes 59 supported at their ends by guide rings, not shown, ensuring their eccentricity. The suction chamber 54 is provided with an opening 60 through which it is connected with the purge tank of the air separator 53, the liquid coming from this purge tank accumulating in the chamber 61, in which the air separator turns. paddle wheel 58; this opening 60 can also be used for the first priming.
It should be noted that the shape of the chamber 61 does not allow its complete emptying, which facilitates the priming of the pump.
Finally, a valve 62 and a connector 63 act as a bypass to allow excess pumped liquid to return to the tank.
The liquid sucked from the tank by the paddle wheel 58 is discharged through the connection opening 64 and the duct 65 (Fig. 1) towards the air separator 53 located at the top of the column and which offers the particularities below:
As shown in particular in FIG. 8, the large-section vessel that this air separator 53 comprises, has a shape such that during its filling, through the duct 65, with a liquid containing air, this air, while being released, is brought directly to the upper part..µ this% place, a removable float holder 66, fixed by screws 66% to the body 53 of the separator, supports a guide sheath 67 for the float 68, as well as the air outlet needle 69 joined to the float by the articulated arm 768a.
The float holder 66 also carries a jet cutter plate 70, which allows the cover 71 to be removed while the apparatus is in operation in order to verify the operation of the float 68. The forma and the arrangement of the float holder 66 and the sheath 67 allows easy removal of the entire device.
When the liquid mixed with air is introduced into the vessel 53 through the opening 58a. its level rises in this vessel and it fills it at a reduced speed. During this time, the air contained in the liquida escapes by a difference in density, rises towards the upper part of the vessel 53 and escapes through the ventilation orifice 72, the needle 69 of which is kept apart under the weight. of float 68. As long as orifice 72 remains uncovered, the pressure in the separator is virtually zero. When the liquid which continues to flow into the vessel 53, reaches the level of the float 68, it drives the latter and lifts it up to the lead where the needle 69 controlled by said float closes the air outlet orifice 72.
As the air can no longer escape from the vessel 53 and the liquid continuing to access it, the pressure increases in the se-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
parator and can be used to distribute the air purged liquid located in the lower part of the separator.
While the apparatus is in operation, the air continues to separate from the liquid and increases the layer of air which will occupy an increasingly greater height at the upper part of the vessel 53. There therefore comes a time when this mass of air is large enough to lower the level of the liquid in the tank 53; the float 68, controlling the needle 69, then also lowers and pushes said needle away from the outlet port 72, so that this excess air can, in turn, escape until the level of the liquid, while rising, again brings the float 68 to its upper position in which the needle 69 closes the orifice 72.
As at the start of the operation, the needle 69 does not block the orifice 72, the air escaping through the latter can carry with it droplets of liquid. In this case, these droplets strike the jet cutter plate 70 to fall back into the purge tank 73. The latter contains a float 74, which when said purge tank contains sufficient liquid to lift it, uncovers by a needle 75 a purge orifice 76 through which this liquid returns to the feed pump, the suction of which empties the purge tank until, by lowering the float 74, the needle again closes the orifice 76.
After the separation of the air it contains, the liquid is evacuated through the orifice 53b of the chamber 77, in which it drives the wheel 78 actuating a movable indicator, to be directed towards the measuring device 19.
Finally, FIG. 9 shows the particular arrangement of the luminous globe and the electrical connection system of its lighting bulb, with a view to producing an easily removable assembly.
As shown in this Figo, the globe 79 is retained by the claws 80a of a support 80 fitting into the dome 10a of the cabin to which it is fixed by nuts 81, On this support 80 is also mounted the socket of the bulb 82. The electrical connection of the lamp 82 is made by the bayonet connection 83.
It follows from this arrangement that if the globe 79 has to be removed either for the replacement of the lamp 82, or for the verification of the operation of the separator 53 arranged below, it suffices to loosen the nuts 81, to disconnect the bayonet connection 83. , which makes it possible to remove the support, the globe and its lamp in one go, without having to unplug the electrical wires. It will be understood that the reassembly is carried out so quickly by performing the operation in reverse order.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
It is understood that the shape and arrangement of the various elements involved in the liquid dispensing apparatus described above and illustrated have been given only by way of example and not by way of limitation.
