"PERFECTIONNEMENTS A LA CONSTRUCTION DES CARABINES A AIR
COMPRIMER
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF AIR RIFLES
COMPRESS
The present patent relates to improvements in the construction of compressed air rifles, on the one hand, in the organs of the rear part of the bottom of the cylinder. air, on the other hand the closure in the sense that the block carrying the barrel comprises at the place of the automatic locking, an interchangeable attached part, which makes it possible to avoid, after wear, having to replace the block bearing the barrel, the added piece being the only subject to wear and replacing itself in the easiest way.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings represent schematically and by way of explanation and without limitation the improvements envisaged in accordance with the present patent.
For this purpose, fig.I shows a section in elevation in the longitudinal axial direction in the rear part of the air cylinder of a rifle.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 shows the air cylinder closing cap seen in profile.
Fig. 3 shows an elevational view with partial section of the anterior end of the air cylinder and the block carrying the barrel, the weapon being closed.
Fig.4 shows a view similar to that of Fig.3, the weapon being open.
Fig.5 shows a front elevational view of the rear part of the block carrying the barrel.
Referring to Figures I and 2, 1 shows the air cylinder in the rear part of which is engaged a nozzle 2. This nozzle 2 is provided in its lower part with a slot 5 for the passage of the trigger I3, which passes through the cylinder 1, thanks to the slot 14. A transverse pin 6 on which the trigger 13 is articulated joins the cylinder 1 and the nozzle 2.
A part 30 with a threaded head engaged in the cylinder 1 and in the nozzle 2 completes the fixing of the nozzle 2. On the anterior end of the nozzle 2 comes to rest a washer 3 provided with a tube 4 in which slides the rod 16 of the piston (not shown), comprising at the front the hooking spout 15 on the facet 8 of the trigger 13. 9 shows the piston spring pressing on the one hand on the washer 5., on the other hand part on the bottom of the piston. Is the eir cylinder 1 closed at the back with a plug? cup-shaped threaded onto the rear end of cylinder 1.
This stopper 1 has at its periphery two notches 10 separated by a lug or projection 11 in which the rear end of the detent spring 12 is housed and supported, engaged by its other end in a perforation of the detent 13.
The automatic closing and opening of the weapon is shown in figures 3 and 4.
To this end, the device envisaged comprises in its front part of the cylinder block 1, a housing 22 in which can slide a piston 21 biased by a spring 23 and provided with a joint 24 in which a screw engages. 25 forming a stop at the same

time as the retaining member of said piston 31, which in its anterior part ends in two non-linear faces 31 and 32 oonver- gentes. The rear part 18 of the barrel 20 articulated at 18 on the anterior end of the cylinder block 1 has on its front face two inclined faces 36 and 17 oonvergentes forming a notch.
On face 17 in a dovetail assembly see fig. 5, is engaged an insert 29 in the form of a plate, the upper face 27 of which is very slightly flush with the top of the adjacent face 17. This plate 29 is fixed. by the screw 28 engaged in its front face on the part 18.
It is easily understood that thus the face 27 of the part 29 and, the frontal fa-- this of the latter will be the only subject to wear and that when this eventuality occurs it will suffice to replace the part 29 by a new part.
The automatic operation of this closing and of this opening is easily understood as follows.
Assuming '' 'the weapon closed, everything looks as shown in fig. 3. It will be noted that the face 31 of the piston 21 is in contact with the face 26 of the rear part 18 of the barrel 20 and the face 32 of the piston 21 with the face 27 of the plate 29 secured to I8. To open the weapon, see fig. 4, the barrel 20 will be tilted downwards, which will have the effect of forcing the face 27 on the face 32 of the piston 21 and thus forcing the latter: to return to its housing by compressing the spring 23. The rocking movement of the canoe 20 once completed, everything is as shown in fi g.4.
To close the weapon, we will proceed in reverse order. Oe will be the front face of the plate 29 which will come into contact with the face 31 of the piston 21 to push the latter and finally the assembly will appear as indicated in fig.3.
From the above description, it is easy to see that only the part 28 constitutes the easily replaceable wear member ensuring the automatic operation of the closure as of the opening of the weapon.
