<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The condition for the equalization of the nuclei has hitherto required specific constructive forms which do not always exhibit the optimum magnetic properties.
In cylindrical coils comprising foil cores, the equalization of the cores has so far been carried out as follows: other sheets or sheets were added to the calculated core sheets or a few sheets were removed, in order to obtain by strengthening or weakening the nucleus of the corresponding variations of induction in the nucleus. This required loosening and retightening of the plates, and core yokes and, therefore, complicated mounting often difficult. Further, in laminated cores, the dispersion is uneven at various locations of the core, so induction occurs in sheets with delay.
It is known that with respect to these constructions, chokes with annular cores represent the optimum shape, both as regards the dispersion and also the magnetization current. But equalization of wound cores was not possible in this case. Until now, it has only been possible to equalize the induction of the annular chokes by varying the winding.
In accordance with the invention, a possibility of equalization is obtained with an annular core for a coil of an inductor or transformer by leaving between the core and the winding an annular space in which a strip of magnetizable material can be inserted, also after laying the winding, to increase the sections of the core. The free annular space is maintained by a suitable constitution of the isolation. The strip which can be inserted by pushing it in is made of a material of high magnetic value, preferably of the same material as the core.
In order to vary the sensitivity of equalization by the band in the form of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tape, this strip can be chosen of different width and thickness.
A particularly advantageous application of the new choke construction is obtained, for example, in modulating chokes for the control of the discharge distance grid in steam or rectifier gases Since the annular choke has the mid dispersion. nimum, its saturation point is strongly pronounced and the controlled ignition voltage has a steep voltage front, as is desired in itself. The pulse voltage is about 30% higher than that which can be obtained by chokes with laminated cores. Likewise, the voltage does not yield when charging; there is therefore no loss of voltage when the discharge takes place.
To these properties, which the known annular chokes also exhibit, but which the chokes with equalizable laminated cores do not have, are added, for the annular chokes with equalizable core in accordance with the invention, the advantageous characteristics that the saturation values of cores are also adjustable.
It is therefore thus possible to obtain, during the control of several anodes by the simultaneity of the saturation of the various modulation chokes, an anode load which is approximately completely symmetrical. Adjustability is even easier and more precise than is possible with laminated cores, since the ribbon-shaped strip of magnetizable material can be easily pushed into the free annular space, and this after winding the core and during the 'operation without the need to loosen magnetic yokes and screw connections. As already mentioned, the smoothness of the equalization can be varied in a simple manner by choosing a strip in the form of a ribbon of suitable width and thickness and pushing it to a suitable extent in the annular space.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
As explained at the outset, the chokes with an equalizing annular core according to the invention can be used in all coils which serve for the production of voltages of determined curve shapes or in which the magnetic properties marked must be used. For example, instead of being done in the usual way by varying the number of turns, the equalization of Pupin's coils can also be done by driving a strip in the form of a ribbon into the free annular space. Likewise, the new arrangement of equalizing core coils can be used in high value transformers in the low current technique. Of course, other windings can also be placed, for example for the pre-magnetization in control circuits on the choke windings.
The control range of the pre-magnetization windings is then also greater for the pre-magnetization.
Two exemplary embodiments of the object of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawing.
The construction method shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 show an annular core 1, which is covered on the side faces by two roughly circular insulating discs 2.
The diameter of the latter is a little larger than that of the annular core, so that a corresponding annular space 5 is provided when laying the insulating strip 3 on the outer periphery of the core. The insulating discs 2 and the insulating strip 3 are kept assembled with the annular core 1, for example by a winding of solid tape (not shown here). The winding of the reel is then placed, in the usual manner, on this reel of tape, the introduction opening 4, going to the annular space 5, having to be kept free. The equalization of the annular choke
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
is carried out by pushing the ribbon-shaped strip 6 of magnetizable material into the insertion opening 4.
When several layers of turns 8 are used in this choke construction according to FIG. 1, the turns partly cover the free access to the introduction opening 4 in the annular space 5 ,, so that the magnetizable tape-shaped material 6 is easily deformed when introduced into it. growing into the opening 4. A vacuum is also formed in the winding when placing this winding on the introduction opening 4, in particular again in the case of a high number of turns of the wire of the spool, which greatly favors the dispersion.
The construction of the annular choke according to fig. 3 and 4 avoids these difficulties. Here, the annular core 1 is covered by two annular insulating discs 2, the edges of which terminate externally in a spiral and thus form an appendage 7 in the form of a heel. The periphery of the discs 2 is again covered by an insulating tape 3. The insulating discs 2 and the insulating tape 3 can be kept assembled with the annular core by a bandage. Since the diameter of the annular core is a little smaller. As the two diameters of the insulating discs, a free annular space 5 is formed, which grows a little as it goes towards the introduction opening 4.
The thread winding 8 is then laid again in the usual manner over the bandage and the various layers of this thread winding 8 must be moved back at the location of the introduction opening 4 so as to maintain this opening free. bre. By pushing in the strip of magnetizable tape 6, preferably of the same material as the annular core, the latter is suitably leveled. The strip of tape may in some cases be driven only a short portion into the annular space, or else it may be introduced in a spiral fashion.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
in several turns.
As shown in the drawing, the insertion of the tape strip is easier and is possible straight ahead, without deformation, in the embodiment according to figs. 3 and 4, while the winding exhibits practically no vacuum also at the introduction opening. The equalizable annular choke according to the invention in itself combines the advantages of simple annular chokes and laminated chokes.
