<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Electricity meter with prior payment"
In advance payment electricity meters equipped with) collection devices for a basic tax proportional to time but independent of the consumption of electrical energy, it is customary to perform the automatic addition of the independent tax. of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the consumption of electrical energy at the tax due according to the energy consumption by means of a differential gear whose two planetary gear respectively receive the movement of the motor at constant speed and that of the electricity meter itself, reduced movements one and the other because of the rates applied, the satellite axis of the differential giving the sum of the two movements, this sum corresponding to the overall amount owed by the subscriber.
A second differential controls the triggering cam of the switch by the difference in movements transmitted by the first differential and by the coin-collecting mechanism. It should be considered that in general cases, the basic tax proportional to time and independent of energy consumption is usually taken into account automatically in alternating current meters, using a motor at constant speed, for example, of a synchronous motor of small dimension.
Due to the rates in force for the basic tax and the relatively high speed of rotation of synchronous motors, it is in most cases essential to insert a gear train between the synchronous motor and the first differential mentioned above. Reducers made up of a large number of pairs of high gear wheels.
The object of the present invention is an electricity meter with prior payment with a basic tax device comprising a differential influenced on the one hand by the mechanism for collecting the money and on the other hand by the sum of the movements of the currency. meter and motor taking into account the base tax, this summation being obtained by a rotational movement of the differential assembly about an axis parallel to its axis.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The use of this device makes it possible to eliminate the first aforementioned differential as well as a large part of the numerous reduction gears generally necessary and thereby reduce in many cases the bulk and the August of the mechanism.
It will be better understood what the invention consists of by referring to the description which follows and to the appended drawing, given by way of example.
A mobile cage consists of two discs 1 and 2, the first of which is provided with a toothed ring, connected to each other by two or more columns 3, only one of which is shown in the drawing. The cage is mounted freely on axis 4-, parallel to this axis is mounted in the cage an axis 5 on which the differential 6 is located. When the cage rotates, it drives in a circular rotational movement around the axis 4 the assembly of the differential 6 and of the axis 5.
The electricity meter, by its tangent screw 7, drives on the one hand the numberer 8 indicating the number of kilowatt hours consumed and on the other hand the satellite 9 of the differential 6 via the freewheel 10 on the axis 4 and of the wheel 11 fixed on the axis 5 and integral with the axis of the satellite 9.
The coin collecting mechanism is schematically represented by a teuton 12 accessible from the outside of the apparatus and the drive drums 13 and 14 of the coin 15. The angular movement corresponding to the coin 15. cashing of each coin is transmitted to the planetary wheel 16 of the differential 5 through the wheels 17 and 18 fixed on the axis 4 and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
wheel 19, free on the axis 5 mails integral with the wheel 16.
The constant speed motor 20, intended to take into account the amount of the basic tax due in proportion to time, carries the pinion 21 which meshes with the toothed ring of the disc 1, and continuously drives the movable cage in a circular rotational movement. 1,2,3 and all that the latter supports.
The movement resulting from the combination of the three independent movements which have just been described is transmitted to the triggering cam 22 of the main current switch via the wheel 23 integral with the planetary wheel 24 of the differential 6 and wheels 25 and 26 integral with each other but mounted free on axis 4.
To understand the operation of this mechanism, it will first be assumed that the synchronous motor 20 is stopped. The cage 1,2,3 remains motionless and the disks 1 and 2 which constitute it can be considered as fixed.
The meter then functions as a simple, well-known prepayment meter. The cam 22, the position of which corresponds to the inserted coin reserve, is driven in the direction of an increase in reserve with each insertion of a coin and in the reverse direction during energy consumption, thanks to the known operation differential 6.
If now the synchronous motor 20 rotates at constant speed, driving the cage 1,2,3 and with it the differential 6, the rotational movement of the mobile cage is transmitted to the cam 22 with a certain reduction in speed and is added. the movement described in the above paragraph, in the direction of a decrease in the money reserve.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The total resulting movement is equal to the superposition of the movements communicated to the cam by each of the three component movements taken in isolation (counter, coin insertion and synchronous motor).
By a judicious choice of the number of teeth of the various toothed wheels 10,11,18,19,23 and 25 entering into the constitution of the mechanism, it is possible, if desired, to obtain a considerable speed reduction between the synchronous motor x 20 and the. cam 22. The speed reduction ratio between the movement of the cage 1,2,3 and that of the output gear of the differential 26, can for example reach 1: 4000 with a minimal space requirement and without having recourse or to helical screws, neither with pinions of very small diameter, nor with toothings of modules lower than those commonly in use in this kind of apparatus. This results in an economical construction which does not present any drawback.
