<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"DEVICE SPECIFIC TO DETERMINING THE OSCILLATION OF WATER JETS"
The device which is the subject of the present invention is of particular interest to theaters of water and light.
It makes it possible to obtain, with a minimum of resistance to maneuvering and with a minimum of inertia, large variations in the inclination of the water jets.
During events of water jets synchronized with the music, the device makes it possible, among other things, to obtain without great effort and with precision sets of oscillations of water jets which closely match the rhythm of the music.
The accompanying drawings, to which reference is made in the following description, represent, by way of example, some embodiments of the invention:
Fig. 1 shows in elevation, partly in section, a device for the oscillation of water jets.
Fig 2 is the corresponding plan view.
Figs. 3 to 5 represent different positions of the device, imparting different inclinations to a water jet placed under its influence.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 6 shows, in elevation, partly in section, a variant of a device for oscillating water jets.
Freeze? is the corresponding profile view, part in section.
Fig. 8 is the plan view.
Figs. 9 to 11 represent different positions of the device according to this variant, showing the corresponding water effects.
In Figs. 1 and 2, 1 is a pressurized water pipe carrying nozzles 2. On each nozzle is fixed at 3 a clamp
4 wearing a kind of yoke 5; on the latter is hinged at 6 a rod? whose lower part is hinged at 8 to a control bar 9 and the upper part carries a kind of gutter having a groove 10 and whose cross section 11 has the shape of the letter V rounded.
In the vertical position of the device shown in fig. 3, the water jet 12, completely free, engages between the cheeks of the gorge '10 without being subjected to any influence. But if, by operating the control bar 9, the rod 7 is given a tilting movement, as shown in FIG. 4, the jet 12 meets the bottom of the groove 10 and under the influence of the latter, the jet tilts.
The inclination of the jet will strictly follow the inclination that will have been given to the entire device, by means of the control bar 9.
Fig. 5 shows another more accentuated tilt position of the device, with the corresponding jet tilt.
The axis of oscillation 6 must be located as close as possible to the point where the jet 12 meets the bottom of the groove 10, so as to target the cpuplepooduit as much as possible by the reaction effect of the jet on the device, reaction tending to return the device to its vertical position.
Thanks to this arrangement, the apparatus requires a minimum of effort for its operation, and its reduced inertia allows rapid maneuvers.

A large number of devices mounted on a whole row of nozzles can be grouped and operated by the same hand control, so as to simultaneously print on all the water jets in the same row, the most oscillations. diverse, largest and fastest.
In the device shown in fig. 6 to 8, the oscillation effect is twofold.
This device ,,, similar to the device shown in fig.
1 and 2, however differs in that the upper part of the rod 7 carries a part 13, having a double groove, the cross section of which is shown clearly in FIG. 8. Holes 14 forming an air intake are drilled in this part 13 to avoid the effects of turbulence which could occur in the interior of said part 13.
The variant in accordance with Figures 6 to 8 allows, in addition to effects such as that shown in FIG. 9, of the same order as those shown in FIG. 4 and 5, symmetrical effects with respect to the vertical, such as that shown in fig. 11.
It is naturally permissible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to produce variants which behave practically like the devices described by way of example with regard to figs 1 and 2 and 6 to 8.
