<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
2 dudit dessin.

"IMPROVEMENTS TO: TETINS AND VALVES FOR BOTTLES"
The invention relates to the type of teat or valve for feeding bottles, comprising, inside the part of the neck which fits on the feeding bottle, a wide tape applied separately, and between which and the neck of the feeding bottle, or of the valve, there is a reinforcing strip. This reinforcing strip is housed between the ends of the neck of the nipple and, therefore, only reinforces the portion of the neck between its ends. Such teats have a good hold on the neck of the bottle.
The present invention relates to a pacifier or
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
improved valve, established to obtain an even better fixation on the bottle.
In the practice of the invention, the teat has a wide ribbon inside as at present and the portion of the neck, at its open end, terminates in a bead, as in other teats.
According to the invention, the neck is reinforced from one end to the other, either by means of a band wound in a spiral around the neck and extending from one end to the other of the wide ribbon, or by means of several parallel bands suitably spaced from each other.
The neck is preferably of reduced diameter at its end adjacent to the bead. The body of the pacifier can be of any shape desired.
The nipple is made by dipping a mandrel into a rubber solution to form the body, neck portion and bead which are partially vulcanized on the mandrel. The mandrel is reduced in diameter so as to form a neck having a reduced diameter, close to the bead. The body and the neck portion are then turned over and the neck portion is placed on a rod. The spiral reinforcing band or parallel bands, which may be colored, are, or are, wrapped around the neck and forced to adhere by a rubber solution. The wide tape, which is generally darker in color than the strip (s), is then applied externally to the reinforcement strip (s). The bead is formed by rolling a portion of the rubber, in the known manner.
The whole thing is completely vulcanized and finally turned over again. Nipples of this kind are usually made of transparent rubber to allow you to see

easily the tape and reinforcement tape (s).
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawing in which: @ the figure 1 is an elevation of a pacifier whose body may be made of transparent rubber and which, intended to be applied to a feeding bottle, represents an embodiment practice of the invention; Fig 2 is a view similar to Fig 1 showing a modification; . Fig 3 is an elevation of a bottle valve showing the invention as shown in Fig 1; Fig 4 is a section made through part of a teat or valve shown on a larger scale.
The teat body a can be of any customary shape, and the lower portion of the neck portion b is smaller in diameter at .2. than the upper part of said neck. The neck portion b ends with a bead d, of the usual shape,
In the portion of colb, is disposed a wide ribbon e which extends substantially over the entire length of the collar, but ends at the bead d. Between the wide tape e and the neck portion of the teat, is disposed a tape 1 which is wound in a spiral, as shown in lesfigs. 1 and 4 and which extends from one edge of the tape e to the bead d.
In the form of the pacifier shown in fig. 2, the broad ribbon e extends, in substance, through the entire length of the neck and ends at the bead d, as in the arrangement shown in fig.l. As shown in fig 2, three parallel bands g are wrapped around the wide ribbon e, but two parallel bands equally spaced along
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the neck portion could be employed. Likewise, a number of bands greater than three could also be used.
The valve shown in fig. 3 is of the usual shape at its extremitéeexterior h. The neck portion b, the tape e, the spiral tape r, the constriction and the bead d are exactly like those shown in fig.l.
The ± band and the ± bands between the outer portion of the nipple neck and the inner band e force the outer portion of the neck to form slight bulges, as shown at i, in the accompanying drawing.
It is understood that the valve necks can be reinforced in the manner shown in fig. 2 of said drawing.
