BREVET D'INVENTION.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

PATENT. "Improvements made to obturating devices for tubes or the like".
The invention relates to obturating devices for tubes or the like which open automatically when the tube on which they are fitted is subjected to a certain external pressure; and it mainly concerns (because it is in their case that its application seems to offer the most interest), but not exclusively, among these devices, those comprising a kind of bell, comprising at least one orifice located in the axis of the tube, and a stud or the like, suitable for closing off said orifice, when said bell is in its closed position.
Its aim, above all, is to make the said arrangements such that they respond better than hitherto to the various requirements of practice.
It consists, mainly, in mounting in such a way, in devices of the kind in question comprising a sliding closure bell, an internal shutter stud, that it
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
creates in the neck of said device an annular passage, communicating on the one hand with the inside of the tube and on the other hand capable of being placed directly in communication with the outside by the lifting of said sliding bell.
It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions, which are preferably used at the same time, and which will be more explicitly discussed below in particular, a second provision, consisting in devices of the kind in question , provided with a perforated bell sliding against the action of an elastic system, to be made to include, in said bell in particular on its internal walls, at least two elements descending towards the inside of the tube, said elements being provided with own means to constitute a fulcrum for said elastic system, a third arrangement, still relating to devices of the kind in question, comprising a perforated bell molding as indicated above, consisting in making said bell comprise, in particular, on its walls interior,
at least two elements descending towards the interior of the tube, said elements comprising means intended to effect the locking of the bell in its closed position, these elements further preferably being provided with other means suitable for constituting a point support to the elastic system of the device.
It relates more particularly to certain modes of application, as well as certain embodiments, of the aforesaid provisions; and it relates more particularly still, and this as new industrial products, to devices of the kind in question comprising the application of these same provisions, to special elements specific to their establishment, as well as to articles, in particular tubes, comprising similar devices.
And it can, in any event, be well understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawing, which supplement and drawing are, of course.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of course, given above all as an indication.
Figs. 1 and 2, of this drawing, represent, respectively in elevation with parts broken away and in cross-section through the shutter established in accordance with the invention, said dirty device according to II-II fig.I, a tube provided with a device being re presented in closed position.
Finally, FIGS. 3 and 4 show, similarly to the previous ones, in elevation and in cross section respectively, the same tube, the obturator device being shown in the open position.
According to the invention, and more especially according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments, of its various parts, to which it seems that preference should be given, having, for example, example of a tube T of the type containing a pasty product or the like, and proposing to provide this tube with a closure device of the type consisting essentially for example, on the one hand, of a movable bell 1, perforated at 2 in the axial direction of the tube T, and capable of sliding, under the action of a pressure exerted on said tube and against the action of an elastic system, such as a spring 4 on an oapsule 7 or the like , mounted in an appropriate manner on the tube T, and, on the other hand, by a stud, suitable for closing off said opening 2 of the bell 1, the procedure is as follows, or in a similar manner.
The capsule 7 is made to comprise, first of all, in particular at its upper end a type of neck, which may be constituted, for example, by a sleeve 6, coming integrally with said capsule, the internal passage of said capsule. neck 6 being in particular disposed in the extension of the longitudinal axis of tube T and communicating with the latter, and a stud 3 is mounted in this neck 6, according to the invention, in such a way that it creates inside said neck an annular passage communicating, on the one hand, with the inside of the tube T, and capable, on the other hand, of being placed directly in communication with the outside by lifting the bell 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
For this purpose, according to the invention, said stud 3, constituted for example by a cylindrical rod, is mounted on a cross member 5 or the like, said cross member being fixed by any suitable means to the interior walls of the capsule 7, for example. at the lower end of the neck 6, and said stud 3 is placed on the cross member so that its free end is located opposite the opening 2 of the bell 1 and can therefore close it, when said bell is found in its low position.
An automatic tube shutter device is thus produced, which presents, compared with devices of the already existing type, numerous and real advantages, in particular, of allowing the substantially rectilinear exit and without great resistance of the contents of the tube, and thus avoiding clogging of the screens and loss of material.
According to a second arrangement of the invention, relating to tube closure devices of the type in question comprising a perforated bell, sliding against the action of an elastic system, said bell is provided, in particular on its inner walls with at least two elements. descending towards the interior of the tube, said elements, themselves in accordance with the invention comprising means suitable for constituting a fulcrum for the aforesaid system. elastic.
Thus, still assuming by way of example the shutter device, as has just been described, there are provided in accordance with the invention, two tongues 8,8 'or the like mounted by any suitable means on the inner walls of the device. the bell 1, preferably so as to be diametrically opposed to each other, said tabs being chosen of dimensions such that they penetrate inside the capsule 7, and they are made to include, at their lower ends of hooks 9, 9 'or the like, suitable for constituting lower support points for spring 4, its other end coming to rest, for example, against the inner walls of said capsule 7,
Next, finally yet another provision of] end-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
always relating to the devices of the kind in question,
comprising a perforated, sliding bell, as indicated above, said bell is made to include, in particular on its inner walls, at least two elements descending towards the inside of the tube, said elements themselves in accordance with the invention comprising means intended to effect the locking of said bell in its closed position, these elements further preferably being provided with other means suitable for constituting a fulcrum for the elastic system of the device.
To this end, still assuming by way of example the shutter device as described and according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, shown in the drawing, notches 10 are provided on the tongues 8, 8 'already described, 10 'or the like, said notches being suitable for coacting with, for example, the cross member 5, in order to lock the bell 1, said locking thus being controlled simply by a slight rotation of the bell 1, the latter being advantageously able to be splined on its periphery, in order to facilitate the maneuver.
It goes without saying that the embodiment of the tongues 8, 8 'as it has just been described is given only by way of example and that said tongues or similar elements may, in the context of: 'invention, only include the support means or the aforementioned locking means, the other operation being provided by any suitable means.
Of course, the various elements of the device according to the invention may be made from any suitable material, and, advantageously, with the exception of the spring 4, from molded material.
As a result, and whatever the embodiment adopted, a device is obtained, the operation of which results sufficiently from the above, so that it is unnecessary to dwell on it, and which has many advantages, in particular those which have been indicated above.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Known, of course, and as it follows moreover from the foregoing, the invention is by no means limited to that of its modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments of its various parts, having been more specially indicated; it embraces, on the contrary, all the variants, in particular, that where the bell is fixed and the movable nipple.
