<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Les figures I et 2, des vues latérales à une échelle for- tement agrandie, d'un premier mode d'exécution d'une borne à mâchoires, la figurella représentant sans oonducteurs et la figure 2 avec conducteurs serrés en place;
La'figure 3, une vue latérale d'un second mode d'exéoution;
La figure 4, une vue latérale d'un troisième mode d'exécu- tion;
La figure 5, une vue de face et la figure 6 une vue latéra- le d'un quatrième mode d'exéoution;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"JAW TERMINAL FOR CONNECTING ELECTRIC CONDUCTORS"
The aim of the present invention consists of a construction such as the usual jaw terminals for connection, of electric motors, centered tightening screw in the beo carried by the longer jaw, that the introduction of electric conductors in the slot. located between said beo and the shorter jaw, is made easier and that the oon- duoteurs introduced into the opening of the terminal are retained there in a more efficient manner.
The first part of this object is achieved according to the present invention by the fact that the shorter jaw is provided with a lip extending outwards and allowing the driver to introduce an inclined support on which the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
conductor slides easily into the terminal opening. The second part of the above-mentioned object is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the shorter jaw is provided with an internal projection which serves as a retaining shoulder for the conductors having reached the bottom of the opening of the terminal. Instead of the inner protrusion on the shortest jaw, such a protrusion can also be provided on the longer jaw.
The best effect of retaining the conductors at the bottom of the terminal opening is obtained when the two jaws are provided with projections at the inner shoulders, narrowing the entrance to the bottom of the terminal opening.
In order to be able to house the jaw terminals with a minimum of bulk in branch boots, the latter are given extremely small dimensions. In this case, there is a danger that the tightening screw in the nose of the longer jaw will only be guided by such a small number of turns of the thread, that when tightening the conductors it will not find sufficient restraint in the thread. beak.
To cope with this danger the threaded hole for the clamping screw is arranged so as to still pass through the longer jaw bearing the spout, which is made possible by the presence of the inner protrusion or a shoulder at this projection, where it passes through the rounded opening intended to receive the conductors.
It is however particularly advantageous to provide the thread of the clamping screw with additional guidance in the shorter jaw of the terminal, the projection of this jaw, arranged above the rounded opening of the terminal, lending itself to this. goal. Since the shorter jaw and the longer jaw both retain the clamping screw in this way, a better closure of the terminal to the outside is obtained as soon as the conductors have been placed there. On the other hand, the rigidity of the terminal is increased
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in this way, which makes it possible to give a lesser thickness to the walls of the terminal and therefore an economy of material.
The appended drawings represent by way of example, without limitation, several embodiments of the object of the invention, to saxoir:
Figures I and 2, side views on a greatly enlarged scale, of a first embodiment of a jaw terminal, figure showing without conductors and figure 2 with conductors clamped in place;
La'figure 3, a side view of a second mode of execution;
Figure 4, a side view of a third embodiment;
FIG. 5 a front view and FIG. 6 a side view of a fourth embodiment;
Figure 7, a side view of a fifth embodiment.
The jaw terminal, obtained for example from a profiled material, consists of the rod & serving for. its anchoring in the base s and by the jaws a, b leaving between them the opening for the placement of the electric conductors r, the longest a of these jaws carry the beo D. This beo d receives in a threaded hole of which it is fitted with the usual clamping screw e. The opposite faces of the beak and the shorter jaw have an inclination towards the opening of the terminal, so that an oblique slot results for the introduction of the conductors. In order to facilitate this Introduction .. the shorter jaw b has an outwardly directed lip i.
In order to retain with certainty the conductors r in the opening of the terminal, the jaws a, b have a projection k respectively n., Extending into said opening.
In the embodiment according to figure 3 the screw thread in the beo d is arranged so as to extend by the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
internal projection IL of the jaw a. As a result, the clamping screw e receives a guide over a greater length.
At the same time the introduction lip i of the shorter jaw can be omitted, as shown in Figures 5 and 6.
The guiding of the clamping screw 1 of the jaw terminal is more advantageous in the embodiment according to Figures 4 and 7, than in the embodiment according to figures
3,5 and 6. According to Figures 4 and? the threaded hole is arranged in the beo so that the clamping screw finds a guide not only in the protrusion n of the longer jaw a but also in the protrusion k of the shorter jaw b. In this case the screw e establishes a coupling between the two jaws thus ensuring more the retention of the conductors r in the rounded opening of the terminal and this one is made more resistant, so that the thickness can be reduced of its walls and save material.
The embodiment according to FIG. 7 differs from that according to FIG. 4 only in that the lip i extending the introduction slot and provided on the jaw 1a, shorter according to FIG. 4, is deleted according to FIG. 7.
Finally, it should be noted that, especially in the case of smaller thickness of the longest jaw a and of the nose d, a favorable elasticity is obtained for the clamping of the conductors by the clamping screw e.
