<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Dans le compartiment intermédiaire formé par le -cube d'alimentation e le tube de chauffe, on peut disposer, somme cela se fait pour les corps échangeurs de température fixes, des aubes ou pales inclinées qui, d'une part, maintiennent le tuyau d'alimentation au centre,et, d'autre paru, impriment à l'agent à réchauffer, se trouvant dans le corps échangeur de température, un mouvement rotatif supplémen- uaire, ce qui accroît la transmission de la chaleur. pour augmenter plus encore la transmission ae la chaleur, on peut monter dans la carcasse un râteau dont les barreaux constituent un obstacle à la marche des gaz de combustion amenés par les tubes de chauffe, de manière à imprimer continuellement à ces gaz,un mouvement tourbillonnaire ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Combustion gas heat exchanger for reheating and vaporizing water and superheating steam.
Known temperature exchangers, with circular motion exchangers, in which the coldest agents, projected outwards by centrifugal force, push back the already heated agents and thus cause the latter to move inward, are of complicated construction; their manufacture is, therefore, difficult and expensive; as, moreover, the various sections of the rotary exchanger body are exposed to different temperatures, the latter is subjected to considerable stresses, so that it is hardly possible to keep it permanently sealed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The invention relates to a combustion gas temperature exchanger device used for heating and vaporizing water and for superheating steam, the exchanger elements of which consist of heating tubes arranged on a hollow shaft at the way of spokes and whose outer ends are closed; these heating tubes relate to the interior of the hollow shaft.
The invention consists in the fact that there are, inside the heating tubes, supply tubes reaching up to the vicinity of the closed ends thereof; its supply tubes start from a piece of pipe arranged in the hollow shaft allowing the arrival of the agent which must be heated; or else, they are in communication, in some way, with the water inlet compartment.
In the intermediate compartment formed by the supply -cube e the heating tube, it is possible to have, in sum this is done for the fixed temperature exchanger bodies, inclined vanes or blades which, on the one hand, hold the pipe d The feed in the center, and other published, impart to the medium to be heated, in the heat exchanger body, an additional rotary motion, which increases the transmission of heat. to further increase the heat transmission, a rake can be mounted in the casing, the bars of which constitute an obstacle to the progress of the combustion gases brought by the heating tubes, so as to continuously impart to these gases a swirling movement ;
this not only achieves efficient heat transmission, but also prevents the formation of insulating deposits of soot and fly ash.
In the place where the combustion gases are already. strongly cooled, the pipes can be lined with ribs; these increase the heating surface and when tilted, they act like fan blades. to prevent the excessive increase in salt content resulting from

vaporization of the water, a desalting pipe is provided in permanent communication with the water compartment of the hollow shaft and whose section is adjustable according to the quantity of water to be evacuated. to avoid heat loss by radiation, the casing is surrounded, surrounding the rotating exchanger body, with a mantle under which there is, as salts is made in the hearths, a hollow reserved for an insulating air layer from which .
the air, which heats up, is taken, by a fan, in the state of heated combustion air to be sent to the fireplace. as a result of the favorable collaboration of all these arrangements, the requirements are met with very small heating surfaces, which is economical, especially for high pressure boilers.
The drawing shows the object of the invention in several variant embodiments given by way of examples.
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal and vertical section taken in a temperature exchanger device.
Figure 2 is a transverse and vertical section made in the same device, on a smaller scale.
Figure 3 shows half of a heat exchanger viewed in axial direction, on a larger scale.
FIG. 4 shows part of another variant of a flue gas temperature exchanger device, in longitudinal and vertical section, and
FIG. 5, finally, shows another variant represented in the same way.
In the variant according to Figures 1 and 2, the hollow shaft 1 of the heat exchanger body is housed, by its two ends 2 and 3, in bearings 4 and 5. The shoulder connections of the ends of the shaft s '' fit in the stuffing boxes of the inlet and outlet pipes of

water or steam, not shown in fig.l. The heat exchanger elements of the exchanger body consist of heating tubes 6, in communication with the interior of the hollow shaft 1; their outer ends are closed and they are arranged in a circle like spokes.
Inside each heating tube 6 is a narrow inlet pipe 7, the outer end of which comes close to the closed end of the tube 6, while the inner end is in the first bundle tubular star-shaped, in a closed tubular appendage of end 2 of shaft 1; it is in relation, by its passage, with the water supply pipe; in the other tubular bundles, it is placed in a piece of tube 10 or 11, placed in the hollow shaft 1 and closing the latter by a flange 8 or 9; it is closed at its end. The tube ends 10 each carry a tube bundle for heating and vaporization, while on the tube end 11 are several such tube bundles, for superheating the steam.
At the end 2 of the hollow shaft 1 is a cable pulley 12, which can be actuated by a motive power generator. The rotary heat exchanger body is located in a casing 13 in several parts, in which the top of the hearth 14 and the grid 15 are located at the bottom. The hearth can also be located laterally. Above are bars 16 forming a rake penetrating between the tube bundles; this rake prevents the entrainment of the combustion gases by the heating tubes 6 and causes a deep swirling of the gases.
The carcass is made of heat-insulating material or is surrounded by materials of the species, it is surrounded, in addition, by a mantle 17, arranged above the carcass, so as to provide a mattress therein, in such a way that there is an insulating air layer below it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The combustion gas outlet connector 18, located on the casing, carries an adjustable valve 19 serving to regulate the quantity of gas which leaves and which can, in any case, be controlled automatically by the gas pressure. The coat 17 has a fitting 20, hence. you can suck in the heated air and drive it, a. the state of heated combustion air in the fireplace. , At the places less exposed to combustion gases, the heating tubes 6 can be lined with ribs 21 which, as shown in the section in lines of fig. 3 for the central tube, can be inclined so as to act like fan blades.
The operation of the represented temperature exchanger device is as follows:
Combustion gases. rise from the hearth; they are gripped by the rapidly rotating heating tubes 6 and take a deep vortex movement; they thus move in, spiral and in axial direction while cooling progressively and they are, finally, expelled by the evacuation fitting 18.
The fresh water arrives, by the passage of the ends 8 of the hollow shaft, in the first of the tube bundles formed by the supply tubes and it is conducted, under the effect of the centrifugal force, to the tubes. ends of the heating tubes 6; it heats up there and, because of its lower specific weight, it is pushed back, by the cold water which arrives, into the hollow of the shaft 1.
From there, it arrives, by vaporizing progressively, through the end of the tube 10, in the second tube bundle formed by the inlet tubes 7 and the heating tubes 8, then in the third tube bundle of the supply tubes 1 and, of these, after having passed through the heating tubes 8 and having vaporized entirely, in the end of the tube 11 or the vapor, thus formed, passes through, for the purpose of superheating, simultaneously several tube bundles. 'we can see it
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
produces, in the first tube bundles coming into contact with the combustion gases already more or less cooled, reheating and vaporization, while the. Superheating occurs in tube bundles exposed to the hottest combustion gases.
In the variant of the heat exchanger shown in fig. 4, the saturated steam produced can be transformed without interruption into superheated steam. For this purpose, a device should be used to desalinate the feed water, so that the salt content of the feed does not exceed the allowable limit. The hollow tree !. is divided into two compartments by the flange of a part 22, closed at one end; one of these compartments is in communication with the water inlet pipe, while the other is located side of the steam outlet.
The inlet pipes 23 leading under the inlet ends efleurs in the wall of the heating pipes closed to. f the centrifugal force, the water outwards, have their ends 24, where. The vaporization takes place, so that the vapor exits at the inner ends and arrives, through the hollow of the part 22, in the inlet tubes 25 of the superheater tubes 26.
From there the steam is exited, through a stuffing box 27, into the steam outlet fitting 28 to remove excess salts. the desalting line 29 is used, the T-shaped end of which 30 plunges, through its two inlet openings, into the annular water compartment formed during the rotation of the inlet side of the hollow shaft 1. a shutter member 31 allows the quantity of water to be evacuated to be adjusted, so that the required salt content of the water remains constant. The end of the desalting line 29 is placed, by rotation, in a stuffing box 32.
Between the inlet pipe 23 and the heating tube 24 are inclined blades 39, which, on the one hand, keep the inlet pipe in the center of the heating tube and, on the other hand, print to the agent, which must 'be warmed up, a movement of
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
additional rotation and thus increase heat transmission.
In the variant shown in Fig.5, the heating tubes 33. 34, 35 and 36. are of different length and arranged in steps, so that the shorter tubes are located where. the gases are the hottest, while the longer tubes are in the cooler gas zone, where maximum swirl is desirable.
FIG. 5 also shows a fan 37 mounted on the hollow shaft 1; this fan conducts the air, arriving under the mantle 17 to be heated, by the shortest route, towards the fireplace, by an air pipe 38.
The temperature exchanger device which has just been described can also be used for the indirect production of steam. In this case, the water is passed, under a fairly high pressure, through the device; it is brought to the temperature corresponding to this pressure and it is then expanded in a steam accumulator to the required pressure. The non-vaporized water goes from the accumulator to a circulation pump which leads it, in circuit, through the exchanger device. The vaporized water is replaced by a feed pump which brings the necessary quantity of water to the circulation pump.
The profitability of this temperature exchanger device is ensured by the fact that it simultaneously constitutes a water heater, a generator and a steam superheater, and that it allows at the same time to operate the transport of gases and, in in addition, that of the combustion air.
