Railway car cooled with solid carbonic acid.
In cooled railway cars, it is frequently necessary to provide air circulation and a supply of relatively hot air over the coolant to be evaporated. Exclusively ventilators, most often electrically controlled, are used for this purpose. The dynamo arranged for the production of electric energy, the buffer battery, the lines and the motors cause an increase in the cost price, a heavy weight and disturbances.
In railway wagons cooled by solid carbonic acid, it is possible, according to the invention, to achieve in a simple and inexpensive manner the necessary circulation of air and the supply of air over the carbonic acid. solid, using one or more compressed air or gas cylinders under

pressure:
If solid carbonic acid is enclosed in these cylinders, it vaporizes without any solid residue and consequently directly furnishes the gaseous carbonic acid; one kilogram of solid carbonic acid produces 0.5 cubic meters of CO2 gas at atmospheric pressure. If a determined amount of solid CO2 is vaporized in a pressure-resistant container of the appropriate volume, any desired pressure up to 70 atm can be produced.
As a result of the opening of a valve, actuated in the usual way by the refrigeration regulator of the road wagon and mounted on this canister, a strong current of gas is produced which can cause the desired circulation of air. . By the 3'ejector-shaped arrangement of the gas outlet of the cylinder, a volume can be entrained: the air being several times that of the gas.
The drawing represents an embodiment of the object: the invention.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the wagon.
Fig. 2 is a cross section.
Figure 3 shows the left side of the plan view.
Figure 4 shows an outlet pipe of the canister with a turbine actuating a fan.
In the railway car a is housed a steel cylinder b. Solid carbonic acid is introduced into it through the cover c. The pressure gauge d with safety valve e is mounted on the cylinder. The pipes f and g were also mounted on the neck of the cylinder with the

valves h and i controlled in the known manner by the refrigeration regulator. The pipes f and g open into pipe sections k and 1: the conical shape acting as 3 'suction chambers.
By means of these pipe sections and the moet n extensions connected to them, the pressurized gas exiting: the cylinder entrains the relatively hot air, accumulating in the upper part of the wagon, into the cold accumulators o and P. solid The carbonic acid / stored in these accumulators evaporates under the action of this air. The very cold mixture of air and gas is blown through the openings q onto the material to be cooled or else is discharged - as has been indicated for the accumulator designated by p- by an opening r in the double wall s of the railway car.
The o and p accumulators can be connected to pipes, double walls, channels or similar devices to distribute the mixture of CO2 gas and cold air over the material to be cooled *
Downstream of the valves h and 1, it is possible to insert, in the manner shown in fig. 4, fans v to produce the circulation of air over a larger cross section t. These fans are driven by small turbines u mounted in the outlet ducts *
