Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig.l représente l'installation complète de broyage.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Device for removing foreign iron and other bodies which are difficult to spray from drum mills.

   The present invention relates to a device for separating and removing foreign bodies from drum mills in which the ground material is expelled by a stream of air. In the grinding of coals, Thomas slags and other materials of medium hardness, it is shown that the accumulation of foreign bodies such as pieces of iron, stones, pyrites, etc. in the grinder causes disturbances in the grinding process, and that in particular the yield decreases very significantly as a result.

   The invention solves the problem thus posed by the fact that the expelling air current circulates in a bent tube and that at the outer curvature of this tube are arranged inclined oblique guide plates with intermediate slots. The outgoing air current is subjected, in this bent tube, to a powerful

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 centrifugal force, so that the foreign bodies, difficult or badly pulverizable, which are in this current of air, are expelled following the external wall of the tube, because of their high specific weight or their coarse grinding. These bodies are stopped by the guide plates and discharged through the slots into a suitable reservoir.

   The inclination of the guide plates can be changed, so as to always be able to adapt the angle of attack of said plates and the output cross sections to the nature of the ground material and to its fineness. The inclination of all the guide plates can be changed in a particularly simple and advantageous manner, by a common member, in the manner of a louver.

   The appended drawing represents an exemplary embodiment of the invention:
Fig.l shows the complete grinding installation.

   Fig.2 is a large-scale sectional view of the separation device.

   The ground material is drawn out of the drum mill α by a central air stream, and then arrives in the elbow 12 of the tube. In it are several catch plates c orientable around their axes. The foreign bodies are ex pulsed through the slits formed between the plates c and fall into a case d from which they can be removed in any way, as required. To this box is connected a piece of tube e, the cross section of which can be changed by means of a valve f. The expelled crushed material arrives in the hopper g. A fan h determines a continuous stroke of the air, and the arrangement may be such that a vacuum is created in the pipe b.

   In this case, air is continuously sucked from the pipe e and this air will enter the curve b in the opposite direction of the foreign bodies which separate. This determines a favorable action in the sense that parts of ground material possibly entrained, such as flour and semolina,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 are fed back into the elbow tube b, while heavy foreign bodies fall to the bottom of the boot d. The semolina thus returned are taken to a magnetic separator i. The latter removes the metal parts still possibly entrained in the semolina, and these metal parts are then brought by a passage k into the box d.

   When you want to make as little as possible the penetration of outside air into the circuit traversed by the ground coffee, you can also connect the connection e to the pressure pipe m of the fan by a pipe. In addition, when the bent tube b is under vacuum, air can be introduced into the connection e by a special fan.

   To prevent the air entering through connection e into the body d from passing through the chute k, a discharge valve n can be placed in the latter (fig. 2).
