<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Pump for masses composed of slurry and pieces, concrete for example.
The present invention relates to a pump for masses composed of slurry and pieces, in particular concrete.
Pumps known to date for handling concrete, etc., almost always include valves which were the cause of disturbances. In addition, concrete pumps, etc. known to date are very sensitive to variations in dosage.
The present invention overcomes these drawbacks of the known types of pump. This result is obtained mainly
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
owing to the fact that absolutely no valve or other is used, and also of the fact that all the parts of the pump, taking into account particularly the composition of the masses to be handled which are formed from a mixture of slurry and pieces , are constructed in such a way that the more or less voluminous pieces contained in the soup cannot prevent the moving parts from describing their movement.
According to the invention, the delivery chamber of the pump temporarily has, during the empty stroke, openings provided in a hollow cylindrical support partly participating in the movement of the pump piston and surrounding the latter. Through these openings the mass arrives in the delivery chamber when the piston is disengaged from the latter. After these openings have been released from the discharge chamber they are masked outside the latter by the piston. Below the discharge chamber is arranged a slide or the like which, during the inactive stroke of the piston and the member carrying the openings, closes the discharge chamber, which opens during the discharge stroke. and which, when this stroke is over, again closes the delivery chamber.
Preferably, a reservoir is provided intended to receive a quantity of mass to be handled which will be kept constant, this reservoir being connected to the discharge pipe by a tubular connector constituting the discharge chamber and partially surrounding the hollow cylinder. pierced with openings as well as the piston. The spool below the discharge chamber is preferably arranged so that by closing after the discharge stroke is completed it closely shaves the lower edge of the discharge piston.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
lement and that of the hollow cylinder which surrounds it, thus separating the pumped mass from the bottom of the piston and from the end of the tube and again closing the pump discharge chamber.
The drawer being thus arranged, its movement cannot be hampered by the bulky pieces contained in the mass.
The movements of the piston, of the hollow cylinder which surrounds it and of the spool are determined, preferably in an automatic and desmodromic manner, by a control device, for example by a cam plate.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example and in part schematically, one embodiment of a vertically movable piston pump made according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial sectional view of the device in its initial position.
Figs. 2 to 8 show various positions of the moving parts (that is, of the pump piston, of the hollow cylinder surrounding this piston and of the spool) during a complete operating cycle including an inactive stroke and a stroke delivery, the drawings appearing as in FIG. 1.
Fig 2 shows the piston in a slightly raised position.
Fig. 3 shows the piston in a slightly more raised position.
Fig. 4 shows a third raised position of the piston.
Fig. 5 shows the piston in an even more raised position, for which the hollow cylinder is now also raised.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Fig. 6 shows the piston in a lower position with the hollow cylinder still raised.
Fig. 7 shows a lower position of the piston and the hollow cylinder, the spool now open.
Fig. 8 shows the extreme position of the piston and the hollow cylinder, the drawer still open.
Fig. 9 shows the arrangement of two pump elements seen, one in section and the other in elevation at right angles to the other figures.
A shaft C is mounted in bearings D and E at the top of a frame A (figs. 1 and 9). At the free end of the shaft C is wedged a control pulley F. In the frame A is also arranged a reservoir a in which is stored the mass to be pushed back, which is formed of slurry and pieces and which can be, for example, concrete.
The quantity of concrete contained in the tank a is kept constant by means of devices known per se, so that it fills the tank up to a level which is always equal. At the base of the reservoir is fixed a tubular connector b which delimits the delivery chamber G. Into this delivery chamber enters a hollow cylinder c fitting into the tubular fitting b and surrounding a pump piston d. The discharge chamber is closed at the bottom by a slide e which, as shown in figs. 1 and 9, is applied in a sealed manner against the lower edges of the piston d and of the hollow cylinder c when this slide is in the initial position, that is to say before each inactive stroke and after each delivery stroke. The discharge pipe f is connected below the spool.
The hollow cylinder has openings c 'in the form of mortises distributed over its periphery and whose @
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
lower edges, in the initial position according to fig.l, are at the level of the lower edge of the tank a.
On the shaft C is wedged an eccentric or cam plate g which participates in the rotation of the shaft. This plate has grooves d2, c3, e3 forming cams and in which the rollers d1, c2 and e 2 respectively roll. The roller d1 is connected to the piston d which describes a vertical back-and-forth movement. The roller c2 is integral with the hollow cylinder also driven in a vertical back-and-forth movement and carrying the openings c1. The roller e2 is integral with a lever el, the lower end of which is connected to the slide e slide laterally. The lever el is articulated to the frame A in e4.
The frame carries a slide H in which the hollow cylinder c slides during its vertical movements. The slide H is connected to the frame by means of an arm I and a collar or the like K.
The piston d is preferably of hollow construction. It may have an air valve in its bottom which only opens when the piston moves upwards.
The movements of the piston d, of the hollow cylinder .2 carrying the openings c1 and of the spool e are determined automatically and desmodromically by the rotation of the cam plate g.
Fig. 1 shows the initial position for which the spool e is open and the piston d, as well as the hollow cylinder c, are in their lowest position and almost touch the spool e. According to fig. 2 and as a result of the rotation of the cam plate g, the piston was found to be slightly raised after the pump was actuated.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Between the bottom of the piston d and the slide e, that is to say in the delivery chamber G of the pump, a more or less complete vacuum is produced. When, following the freeze 3 and continuing its upward movement, the piston d has risen sufficiently so that its bottom is higher than the lower edge of the openings ci of the hollow cylinder c, the concrete begins to enter through the ± 1 opening in the delivery chamber G of the pump. This action takes on its full extent as soon as, according to FIG. 4, the lower edge of the piston has completely unmasked the openings c1. The mass which enters the discharge chamber G or the interior of the hollow cylinder c fills this chamber until its level is the same as outside in the tank a (fig. . 5).
Shortly before, and as a result of the shape of the corresponding cam, the hollow cylinder c has also risen, to such an extent that the lower edges of the openings ± 1 are above the surface of the mass ( fig. 5). In this case, the lower edge of the hollow cylinder c is located approximately at the height of the bottom of the tank a. The tubular connection b surrounding the delivery chamber G of the pump and the hollow cylinder ± are now full of concrete up to the height of the surface of the mass B. The delivery chamber is still closed by the spool e.
With the cam plate g continuing to rotate, the piston d is pushed downwards ;, thus first closing the openings cl (fig. 6) and compressing the air trapped in the hollow cylinder c above. of the mass. Thus an air mattress is formed which acts as a buffer and which protects the mechanism against the reaction of too much pressure. Instead, the piston d can be provided with elastic devices.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
After the openings' ci have been masked, the drawer e opens as a result of the shape of the cam e which corresponds to it. As the piston d continues to descend, the discharge mass is pushed into the discharge line f. The piston d and the hollow cylinder c are lowered together (fig. 7) until they reach their lowest position (fig. 8), which corresponds to the initial position shown in fig. 1. Due to the shape of the cams, they remain in this position for a while until the drawer e has closed.
This closure can be effected without the bulky pieces contained in the mass opposing it an exaggerated resistance, because the spool closely shaves the underside of the piston and the lower edge of the hollow cylinder and thus interposes itself between the repressed mass and the bottom or edge in question. The operating cycle, comprising an inactive stroke and a discharge stroke, can then start again.
The twin arrangement according to fig. 9 differs from the simple arrangement according to the other figures only in that a larger capacity reservoir is provided in which two pumps of the type described come to be supplied with the mass to be delivered.
The particular advantage of the pump according to the invention resides in that it makes it possible to handle masses of all kinds, in particular all the variously dosed concretes which are used in reinforced concrete construction.
It is absolutely impossible to obstruct the discharge passages inside the pump.
To ensure automatic control of the piston, the hollow cylinder and the spool, it is also possible to use devices other than the cam plate, for example guides, grooved cylinders, friction discs, etc.
