B R E V E T D'INVENTION
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
grandeur requise). '
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

PATENT
Regulator device for controlling several motors, in particular paper machines, in which the various individual motors operate in synchronous mode relative to each other, or with a directing quantity.
The present invention relates to a regulating device for controls with several motors, in particular of paper machines, in which the various individual motors operate in relative synchronous operation with one another or with a directing quantity, and in which one uses for maintain the relative synchronous operation, of differential devices without moving parts.
The invention consists in using, as a differential device, an electron tube with ignition of anode current depending on the voltage of the gate, the position of the ignition point for the production of the anode current. being modified in dependence on the mutual displacement of two quantities (effective quantity and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
size required). '
The directing quantity influenced by the effective quantity is preferably the variable excitation of the motor, so that the leading quantity and the quantity to be controlled are the same.
The adjustment takes place because the phase shift between the anode frequency and the grid frequency, i.e. the angular position between the number of revolutions of the steering motor and the number of revolutions of the individual motors is used to the maintenance of the relative synchronous operation.
Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the invention in the form of a circuit diagram. Figs. 2 to 4 illustrate the electrical processes in the control tube during regulation.
In fig. 1, the individual motor to be adjusted is designated by 1. Its armature is connected to network 2, the voltage of which is adjustable. The individual motor has a fundamental excitation 3 supplied by the exciter network 4 of constant voltage, and a second additional excitation 5 to which the directing quantity is supplied by the conductors 14 and 15 with the intercalation of a electronic tube 6. The individual motor 1 actuates by a control with adjustable angle pulleys 7 a tachometric machine B.
Field 9 of machine 8 is connected to the constant voltage network 4. Tacho machine 8, connected by one pole to the heater and the other to the grid, delivers an alternating current to the grid 10 of the electron tube 6, the heating filament of which is designated by 11 and the anode by 12.
A current source 13 is used to supply the heating filament.
Fig. 2 schematically represents the processes in the electron tube 6. For example, an alternating current, the course of which is that of curve 16, oscillates, at a frequency proportional to the magnitude -
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
required, in conductors 14 and 15, - the exciter coil 5 of the individual motor 1 and the anode circuit of the electron tube 6. This current is rectified by the electron tube, which is indicated by the lower half of the electron tube. dotted curve 16. An alternating current according to curve 17 is conducted by the tachometric machine to the grid circuit of the electronic tube. As the machine 8 runs in proportion to the individual motor, a frequency proportional to the required magnitude oscillates in the gate circuit.
We use an electron tube whose ignition of anode current depends on the grid voltage. The critical gate voltage, the exceeding of which each time causes the anode current to ignite, is represented by curve 18. In the mutual position, as shown in FIG. 2, of the gate voltage 17 with respect to the anode voltage 16, so ignition cannot occur and no anode current flows.
This state reigns as soon as there is agreement between the effective frequency proportional to the operation of the individual motor and the required frequency giving the rhythm and delivered by the conductors 14 and 15, that is to say that none current does not flow through the exciter winding 5.
If now the individual motor 1 lags in its number of revolutions in relation to the required quantity, the curve 17 will move to the left with respect to the curve 16.
In fig. 3, a similar phase shift between the anode voltage and the gate voltage has taken place by the value 19. The curve of the gate voltage intersects the line 18 of the critical voltage at point 20; consequently, the ignition of the anode current begins at this moment.
It therefore passes an anode current composed of several pulses, in accordance with the hatched surface. This chopped direct current passes through the exciter winding 5
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the individual motor 1 and is superimposed on the fundamental excitation given by the coil 3 for the individual motor 1, so that the speed of the individual motor 1 again approaches the required speed and the phase shift between the directing motor and the individual motor, that is to say the relative angular position between the two, ie again zero.
If the number of revolutions of the individual motor drops in relation to the directing magnitude more sharply than what has been admitted in fig. 3, the curves will also move relative to each other in a corresponding manner, as shown in FIG. 4. While according to fig.
3, the additional excitation has only been inserted for a short time, it is effective for a longer time in the example according to fig. 4. By comparing these two curves one realizes the possibility of adjustment of the superposition of the fundamental excitation.
The invention offers the advantage that it is no longer necessary to use, as hitherto, a particular directing quantity compared, -in a particular device, with an effective quantity and the resultant of which influences the exciter current. or an additional excitation of the individual motor, but the directing quantity is directly used to act on the individual motor. As a result, it is possible to establish the device comparing the effective quantity and the required quantity, and the device influencing the excitation of the individual motor, in the form of a single device, and to obtain a construction much more economical of the whole installation.
In addition to the synchronization of multiple-motor controls, the arrangement described can also be used for a motor 13., any direct current, as a device for regulating the number of. turns in the direction of rapid adjustment, and 'in this case, the frequency drawn from the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
three-phase network (inter-municipal or individual central) sets the pace, and the angular deviation of the motor to be adjusted from the required position determines the size of the adjustment impulse each time necessary. The use of the three-phase power station as a rhythm machine offers the advantage of eliminating a particular rhythm instrument.
The invention is not limited by the exemplary embodiment shown. It is for example possible to employ, instead of the tachometric machine shown, an AC tachometric machine, the armature of which is a permanent magnet and the stator winding of which can be connected to the grid of the tube.
