Fig.l est une vue en élévation
Fig.2 est une demi-vue en plan

Sheet metal frame bogie for railway cars o
The invention relates to a bogie for railway cars which comprises a sheet metal frame and whose suspension springs and those of the axle boxes are mounted parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car and externally with respect to the vehicle. bogie frame. This known construction has the drawback that, owing to the forces of the springs, torsional moments act transversely on the frame which does not withstand them very well.

The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback and consists in adding to the sheet metal frame auxiliary lanyards absorbing the torsional moments and located on the outside and parallel to the springs.

An example of execution is shown in the drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is an elevational view
Fig. 2 is a half-plan view
Fig. 3 are two sections, following lines 1-Il and
III-IV of Fig.l, and Fig. 4 shows on a larger scale the assembly of the load-bearing springs with the bogie.

The car rests by means of the pivot a and the dancer cross member b on the longitudinal springs c mounted on the outside of the sheet metal frame d and parallel to it. This frame d is based on coil springs k, the suspension tie rods of which are suspended from a compensating beam i articulated to the axle boot, below the latter. The ends of the suspension springs c are suspended from the frame by means of the levers l. These are articulated by studs! to the frame on which they rest in an adjustable manner in g. If they were only supported on the bogie sheet metal frame d, torsional moments P.m would occur (see Fig. 3) which can easily cause the frame to twist.

To avoid this, the levers 1 carry in! and in it not only on the sheet metal frame, but also on auxiliary side members h assembled at their ends to the end cross members of the bogie. The coil springs k also rest on these auxiliary spars h. In the event of a spring break or the car being overloaded, the cross member comes to rest at the end of the sheet metal spar which must then bear the additional forces alone, which it is capable of due to its great height, while the Auxiliary side members h in this case also only have to withstand the usual longitudinal bending moments, which are relatively low. This dis-

In addition, the position presents that the auxiliary side members h can be of very small cross section (eg ordinary side rails are sufficient) so that the construction compared to any other is light, inexpensive and space-saving. This last advantage is especially of great importance because of the unfavorable gauges of many railway lines -: - R E V E N D I C A T I O N -: - Bogie with a sheet metal frame for railway cars, the suspension springs of which are mounted between two side members of the bogie, characterized in that the outer side members are auxiliary side members of small section absorbing practically only the lateral torsional moments produced by the springs, while significant vertical shocks are transmitted to the interior main spars.
