Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

DESCRIPTION.

WIND, WATER, STEAM OR ANY OTHER TURBINE.

The object of the present invention is to make possible the use of any current, such as the wind, a river current or the seas,
The figures of the attached sheet show a schematic practical embodiment, but being given only by way of example, they cannot, in any case, reduce the scope of the present invention.

The "AUBES" drive units may be different in number from those indicated in the attached diagram, depending on the particular cases dictated by local conditions.

Fig. I is a plan view. Fig. 2 is an elevation.

The reference figures in Figures 1 and FIG. 2 designate the same organs.

DESCRIPTION. The number I indicates a frame itself comprising a column 2 and two flanges 3 and 3 '. In the flanges 3 and 3 'are arranged the thrust bearings 4,' 4 '4' 'and 4' '' arranged so as to have the same positions as the thrust bearings 5, 5 ', 5 "and 5"'. Between these thrust bearings are fixed the blades 6, 6 '; 6 '' 6 "'. These blades can therefore pivot about the axis going respectively from bearing 4 to bearing 5, from bearing 4' to bearing 5 ', and so on. However, this movement is limited by the notches

stop 7, '7', 7 "and q9 9 so as to allow each vane to rotate only about 120 degrees.

OPERATION. The direction of the current is indicated by the arrow A, The positions of the blades as shown schematically in figure I are taken by themselves by the fact that their plane is offset so that the dimension of the upper surface blade has always a tendency, owing to the influence of the current, to drag the latter on its side. Assuming the position of the vanes as indicated in fig. I, it will result that the blade 6 will be in the neutral position, that is to say turned in the direction of the wind and the latter will have no hold on it. At the moment; vane 6 ', as a result of its position, determined by the stopper 7', against which the wind presses it by virtue of its offset, will present, at a certain angle, its face to the attack of the wind.

At the same instant, the 6 '' vane will present the total surface area to the attack of the wind, while the 6 '' vane will reverse as a result of the attack of the wind on its off-center side and take the po - position indicated by 6 '' '. So vane 6 will not produce any force, but will not give resistance, vane 6 'will start its motor cycle,' vane 6 "will be working and vane 6 '' 'will be ending its motor cycle. From whichever side the wind or any current will come, such as a river or tidal current, the blades will take their positions indicated by figure I respectively in the direction of the current indicated by the arrow. AT.

It is obvious that the blade in position 6 being neutral and the other three blades having a tendency to oppose a resistance to the wind, all in the same direction, it produces a rotation of the assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow B It is understood that in order to increase the efficiency, these blades can be arranged in any number, or constitute any number of satellite assemblies or be constituted as a double-acting turbine, where there would be a bypassed central assembly. of an outer assembly, rotating in the opposite direction, so as to use, not only the current of the wind or river-or tide, but to use

additionally, the deflections and deviations of this current produced by the positions of the blades.

ABSTRACT. Turbine producing motive force by using any current such as wind, a fluvial or sea current or the tides and consisting of a frame to which the blades are fixed, presenting their surface to the action of the currents mentioned above. These vanes, under the influence of the current, assume different posi- tions determined by suitable stop notches, and, placed so that only one side of the assembly presents a resistance to the current, of the on the other hand, the vanes not resting on the stopper, do not present any resistance to the same current, which produces a rotation of the assembly in the direction of the current attack.
