'voici en substance comment fonctionne l'appareil : supposons ,pour fixer les idées , que l'on désire fermer le cir- cuit dans une heure à un moment quelconque déterminé , et que l'on désire que le courant soit coupé , après que celui-ci ait été fermé pendant trois heures. rour réaliser ceci l'on place au moyen du bouton 20, contrôlant le mouvement de l'axe 15 , donc de l'élément basculant 14 , cet élément dans la position d' ouverture ,c.à.d. que sa partie la plus lourde venant s'appuyer contre la borne 19, la borne 17 n'étant point en contact avec l'autre partie de cet élément . Ensuite on place une des aiguil-
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Device regulated to control the supply of an electric current in time".
The present invention relates to an adjustable apparatus for controlling the supply of an electric current in time.
The apparatus according to the invention makes it possible to turn off an electric current for a very long and variable time, this time depending on the person who uses the apparatus, and to turn off this current at a well determined time. Finally, the device makes it possible to cut off the current at a time chosen by the person, using the device, without requiring the intervention of the latter. The device finds its application above all for the control
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
supplying an electric current, supplying lighting and heating devices, such as for example signs, shop displays, room radiators and the like, which must be able to be switched on and off without the intervention of no one.
This device is based on a very simple mechanism: two discs, each carrying a hand provided with a point, are driven by a clockwork movement, a hand being designed to determine the period of time which must elapse. until the circuit is closed, the other hand being used to adjust the period of time during which the circuit must remain closed and consequently the opening moment of the circuit. by the tips, teeth each of these two needles are provided, these can separately actuate a leaf-shaped spring which will be able to set in motion "a tilting element fixed on an axis", of special construction, and which can close or open the current to be checked.
The invention will moreover be described in more detail below with reference to the figures of the appended drawing, which represent, by way of indication and without limitation, a single embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the apparatus, seen from the front; Figure 2 is also an elevational view of the apparatus, but seen from behind.
Referring to these two figures, 1 is the front panel of the apparatus which is provided, towards its outer periphery with an alidade 2, comprising twenty-four equal subdivisions, each representing one hour, each of these subdivisions being at its turn divided into half an hour, quarter of an hour and five minutes.
Further towards the center of this panel is a dial 3 of an ordinary clock with large and small hand 4 and a dispo-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
winding device 5. On the axis 6 are fixed needles 4 relative to the dial 3, two discs 7 and 7 'each carrying a needle 8 and 8' relative to the alidade 2.
To secure the hands carried by these discs with the axis 6 of the clockwork movement 9 (indicated in dotted lines), and to allow these needles to be easily moved by hand, while providing them with the resistance necessary to maintain the desired position , these two discs '7 and 7' have radial recesses 10 and 1a 'in which springs 11 and 11' are housed.
The needles b and 8 'carry points 12 and 12' which can, apart from the movement of these needles, come to meet the elastic blades 13 and 13 ', arranged to make an element 14 fixed on the axis 15 tilt. , the upper part of this element being more burde than the lower part. On this side, the element 14 has a hollow 16 in which the terminal 17 of the electric circuit to be checked engages, the other terminal 18 of this circuit being in connection with the axis 15 of the rocking element 14. It will be noted that the two blades 13 and 13 'are fixed a little outside the vertical plane passing through the axis 6 of the apparatus and by the indication "24" of the alidade 2.
The apparatus further comprises a neutral stop terminal 19, the whole being mounted on an insulating plate.
Here is in substance how the apparatus works: suppose, to settle ideas, that one wishes to close the circuit in an hour at any given moment, and that one wishes that the current be cut, after that it was closed for three hours. To achieve this, by means of the button 20, controlling the movement of the axis 15, therefore of the tilting element 14, this element is placed in the open position, ie. its heaviest part coming to rest against terminal 19, terminal 17 not being in contact with the other part of this element. Then we place one of the needles
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the 8 or 8 'on the indication "1", and the other hand on the indication "4" of section 2.
From this moment, these hands, integral with the disks 7 and 7 ', therefore with the axis 6 of the clockwork movement, will both move towards the indication "24" of the alidade 2. In s 'approaching this indication, one of the points 12 or 12' will come to rest against the end of one of the two blades 13 or 13 'and will bend the latter and release it when the end of this strip will have reached the vertical plane passing through axis 6 and the indication "24" of alidade 2.
This blade will touch the tilting element 14 and put it in the position indicated in FIG. 2, which will have the effect of closing the electric circuit. The second hand, which was placed on the indication "4" will come, after 3 hours, near the indication "24" and will cause, by means of its point, an identical movement to the other blade. 13 or 13 ', which will have the effect of rocking the element 14, so that the heavy part of the latter comes to be placed on the terminal 19, and that the current is cut.
Apart from the advantages deriving directly from the invention, the object of the invention is an apparatus which can be produced at a very low cost thanks to the simplicity of its constructional elements. it is understandable that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown in the figures of the appended drawing, but that the latter may undergo structural modifications, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
