<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
On peut, en 6, vers le bas élargir le tube à transformation et ainsi diminuer la vitesse du gaz,grâce à quoi les cendres se séparent facilement du gaz;
ces cendres sont soutirées en 7 par une porte ou de toute façon connue.- L'élargissement signalé ci- dessus du tube à transformation ou encore la diminution de vi- tesee des gaz provoquée par celui-ci a cette autre conséquence favorable importante que les particules de combustible qui peu- vent ne pas encore être gazéifiées, se trouvant à la partie su- périeure du tube à transformation, ont le temps nécessaire pour se transformer complètement en gaz ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Gas generator with water, for the gasification of fuels, fine grain or powdery in continuous work"
It is known that in continuously working water gas generators or gasifiers, the heat necessary for the formation of the gas is borrowed from a stream of water gas (rolling gas stream) or that a mixture is charged. of gas to water and steam -heated in a special heater- conduct the heat in the furnace of gas generation.
- lest there be as little heat loss as possible, it is absolutely necessary to position the heater as close as possible to the gas generator.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
therefore consider arranging the heater circularly around the furnace for generating the gas, but the inconvenience then occurs that the outer mantle of the heater and the surface of the bottom of the apparatus then have considerable dimensions. In addition, the lower parts of the gasification furnace which is located in the center and also eg.
the ash evacuation devices have an unfavorable position, a position which is only difficult to access.
However, the drawbacks pointed out do not exist when fine-grained or powdery fuel is used, because in this case the furnace can be replaced by a simple tube of very small diameter. for example, exit from above the heated gas in a two-chamber heater and then lower it vertically into the transformer tube, ion placed in the center,
after having previously mixed the combustible dust with constant stirring - The internal position of the transformation tube guarantees that there will be virtually no waste heat inside -
The lower end of the tube can be designed in a simple and therefore very effective way as a cenar separator.
As shown in addition in the accompanying drawing, a very logical and non-bulky sequence construction is thus produced, with a small footprint on the surface.
In the drawing, reference 1 designates the transformation tube arranged in the center, surrounded by thermal insulation by the two-chamber heater (regenerator) made up of the compartments
2 and 3.- At 4, the heated gas-water-vapor mixture enters the transformation tube,
either he comes from the room
2 or chamber 3, that is to say continuously, while the pulverulent carbon is continuously supplied in a known manner, or to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
using known devices the upper part 5.- As soon as the fuel meets the incandescent steam-water mixture, the transformation of steam or coal into water gas begins - In the arrangement chosen for the transformation tube , there remains ipso-facto sufficient time to carry out a complete transformation, because this transformation - without having to take responsibility for any inconvenience whatsoever - can be carried out very slowly.
At 6, the transformation tube can be widened downwards and thus the speed of the gas reduced, thanks to which the ash is easily separated from the gas;
these ashes are withdrawn at 7 by a door or in any known manner. The above-mentioned enlargement of the transformation tube or the reduction in the rate of the gases caused by the latter has this other important favorable consequence than the particles of fuel which may not yet be gasified, located at the top of the transformation tube, have the necessary time to transform completely into gas;
as a result, an ash devoid of gas is formed.- At 8, the gas which has just been produced exits with the rolling gas.-
It is also possible, if necessary, to make the hot gas laden with steam and the coal dust penetrate from below and to cause the transformation products to exit the tube from above. - The extraction of ashes and the need, in this case, to injecting the fuel with the gas into the transformation chamber, while in the device according to the figure, it can fall in a simple way into the transformation chamber by the effect of gravity, in the form of rain, however, reveal the gas flow from bottom to top as less advantageous.
-
If one attaches special importance to the quality of the mixture of the fuel with the incandescent gas-vapor mixture, or if one is dealing with qualities of coals which do not
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
gasify very slowly, there is no rim / which opposes, with the apparatus represented, (circulation of gases from top to bottom) to already mixing the coal outside the transformation tube with the gas and - as previously stated for the flow of gases from bottom to top - to be injected into the tube in the form of a good quality mixture.
Regarding the heater, let it be noted that the gas - or the steam - is introduced at the bottom at 9 or 10.- The heated gas-steam mixture arrives at the top at 4 as already indicated,
in order to penetrate part into the transformation chamber 1, part into the other heating chamber 3, with a view to reheating the latter after addition of combustion air introduced through the connection 11.- The combustion products which appear form there exit at 13 to go into the chimney. - After re-heating of chamber 3 or even after cooling of chamber 2, the communications are reversed - Despite the alternate operation of the heater, gas production is carried out continuously in the transformation tube.- CLAIMS.-
