La présente invention se rapporte à l'industrie de la. quincaillerie et elle a plus spécialement pour objet un dis- positif nouveau et perfectionné pour fixer le bout du manche dans le corps ou bois d'une brosse ou balai.
Il a déjà été proposé et essayé différents systèmes de fixe-manches, mais en général ces systèmes sont peu efficaces et ne peuvent plus servir lorsque la brosse est usée; ou bien ces systèmes sont trop coûteux et de, fabrication dif- ficile,
Conformément à la présente invention, il est prévu ;
,un système de fixe-manche de fabrication simple et économique, de fonctionnement certain et efficace et d'usage illimité,
Ce fixe-manche consiste en une buselure conique, fen-

dua longitudinalement en deux pièces qui sont réunies l'une à 1 autre par un mode de serrage tel que vis et écrous à ailettes, après mise en place du manche et introduction da# le bois de la brosse,, Ces deux demi-buse lure s présentent des dents, extérieurement sur la partie de la longueur gui s'in- troduit dans le bois de la brosse et intérieurement sur la partie de la longueur qui reçoit le bout du manche, ces dents étant dirigées dans les deux cas dans le sens voulu pour s'op- poser au dégagement de l'élément dans lequel elles sont des- tinées à mordre.
Les dessins annexés représentent à titre d'exemple une forme d'exécution de cette invention; dans ces dessins:
Fig.1 est une élévation de profil d'un fixe-manche cons- truit d'après cette invention, Fig.2 est une élévation de face d'après Fig.1.
Fig.3 montre schématiquement une brosse de rue emman- chée au moyen du dispositif d'après Figs. 1 et 2. se référant à ces dessins, le fixe manche se compose de deux demi-buse lures coniques en métal 1-2, pourvues sur leur partie inférieure de dents 31 faisant saillie vers l'ex- térieur et sur leur partie supérieure de dents 32 faisant saillie vers l'intérieur.
Les dents 31 qui sont destinées à mordre dans le bois 8 de la brosse sont dirigées vers le haut afin d'empêcher que les demi-buselures, après avoir été chassées dans le dit bois 8 puissent se retirer; les dents 32 au contraire, destinées à mordre dans le bout du manche 7 sont dirigées vers le bas, pour empêcher que le manche puisse être retiré..
Chacune des demi-buselures présente deux oeillets 4-, destinés à laisser passer une vis 5 qui est serrée par écrou à ailettes 6,
Le fonctionnement du dispositif tel que décrit est le suivant:

Le bout du manche 7 est introduit danslemanchon formé par les deux demi-buselures 1-2; de cette façon le bout du manche est plus ou moins emprisonné; le manche est'alors in- troduit dans le bols 8 de la brosse et on serre les écrous à ailettes 6; de ce fait, les dents 31 mordent dans le bois 8 et le manchon ne peut plus se retirer et les dents 32 s'incrus- tent dans le bout du manche; la fixation est ainsi rendue par- faite.
Après usure de la brosse, on desserre les écrous 5, on retire le manche et les demi-buselures 1-2 se dégagent as- sez facilement du bois 8.

Referring to these drawings, the fixed handle is made up of two conical metal half-nozzles 1-2, provided on their lower part with teeth 31 projecting outwards and on their upper part of the nozzle. teeth 32 protruding inward.
The teeth 31 which are intended to bite into the wood 8 of the brush are directed upwards in order to prevent the half-nozzles, after having been driven into said wood 8, from being able to withdraw; the teeth 32 on the contrary, intended to bite into the end of the handle 7 are directed downwards, to prevent the handle from being withdrawn.
Each of the half-nozzles has two eyelets 4-, intended to pass a screw 5 which is tightened by a wing nut 6,

The end of the handle 7 is introduced into the sleeve formed by the two half-nozzles 1-2; in this way the end of the handle is more or less imprisoned; the handle is then inserted into the bowl 8 of the brush and the wing nuts 6 are tightened; as a result, the teeth 31 bite into the wood 8 and the sleeve can no longer be withdrawn and the teeth 32 become embedded in the end of the handle; the fixing is thus made perfect.
After the brush has worn out, the nuts 5 are loosened, the handle is removed and the half-nozzles 1-2 are fairly easily released from the wood 8.
