Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for restraining a nose during a healing period.

Operative indications in deviated noses are frequent.

These procedures are known as rhinoplasty, rhino septoplasty or septorhinoplasty. These interventions are performed for functional indications, such as for example a respiratory, aesthetic, restorative indication or a combination of these indications.

Despite progress in understanding the pyramid and nasal septum support mechanisms, it is not uncommon to see a recurrence of the deviation from the nasal pyramid. This recurrence of the deviation can be slight, not very visible, and perfectly acceptable by the patient from an aesthetic and functional point of view. But it also happens that this recurrence is more marked, unsightly, or prevents the patient from breathing properly. A reoperation may even sometimes be necessary.

Among the factors which lead to these recurrences there is inter alia the persistence of tissue elasticity, at the level of the nasal pyramid, of the nasal septum, or also at the level of the asymmetric elasticity of the soft tissues of the face which play a major role.

In order to combat this natural elasticity, the invention proposes to use a device for restraining a nose which would be applied to the patient during the healing period. This device comprises a barbed or notched wire 25, intended to be secured to the nasal dorsum, and at least one hollow needle dimensioned so as to be able to introduce the barbed or notched wire therein. This device is used in a surgical technique, which consists of supporting with the barbed wire or notched the nose on the midline during the healing period. This anchoring, or this guying of the nose, is therefore carried out by means of barbed or notched wire, which has the particularity of sliding only in one direction, and which allows the wire to be anchored in soft tissues without the need for a knot (s) that would create (s) tissue constrictions and scars. Preferably, the wire is a wire made of absorbable material, which has the advantage of not having to be removed later, since it is gradually absorbed during healing.

The invention will now be described in more detail with the aid of FIGS. 1 and 2 which illustrate the device for restraining a nose according to the invention and applied to the patient. In the drawings, the same reference has been assigned to the same element or to a similar element.

During rhinoplasty surgery, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, the barbed or notched wire 2, provided with a needle 3 set on the wire, is put in place through the dorsum 1 of the nose, by the way from the surgical approach. The needle 3 with the thread 2, introduced either by the nasal approach or by the jugals, passes through the soft tissues of the cheek to emerge laterally in the cheek and medially to the nasal dorsum. The side of the face is chosen as being contralateral to the initial deviation of the nasal pyramid, in order to counterbalance the elasticity of the tissues.

At the end of the surgical intervention, and before the skin is closed, the thread is stowed at the level of the nasal dorsum, through the cartilage of the nasal septum. Then, one or two traction points are anchored in the soft tissue of the chest. This anchoring is carried out using at least one hollow medical needle 4, introduced either by an external jugal route, or by the nasal surgical approach. Device for restraining a nose during a healing period, characterized in that it comprises a barbed or notched wire 2 intended to be secured around the nasal dorsum and at least one hollow needle 4 sized to be able to introduce therein barbed or notched wire. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the wire is crimped with a needle, and in that the hollow needle is dimensioned to be able to introduce the wire with its crimped needle. 3. Device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it comprises at least two hollow needles. 4. Device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the wire is made of absorbable material.
