Plastificeerblad.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Plasticizing sheet. The present invention relates to a plasticizing sheet, more particularly a sheet in transparent plastic film as used for document protection.
It is known that documents are often protected by applying a film of transparent material to it, with such commercial film for this purpose being provided on one side with an adhesive layer on which a cover sheet is provided which is removed to protect the document to be protected to be applied to the aforementioned foil or vice versa.
However, a very big problem when applying a document to a aforementioned transparent plastic film is the static electricity and the adhesion between this plastic film and the document to be protected.
Indeed, such a plastic film is subject to static electricity which is further increased during the removal of the aforementioned cover layer, on the one hand, and there is a relatively large adhesion between the document and the plastic film, which, moreover, benefits the mutual attachment of the concerning elements, on the other.
Because of this static electricity and the aforementioned adhesion, the attraction between the plastic film and the film becomes
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
document to be protected, very large, so that these elements are usually connected to each other faster than desired.
Carefully applying the document to the plastic film in the right place and completely at right angles is therefore no easy task.
The present invention has a plasticizing sheet as an object that totally eliminates the aforementioned disadvantages.
To this purpose, this invention relates to a plasticizing sheet consisting of a base in a transparent plastic film, on which base a layer of glue is provided on at least one side and wherein, on top of this layer of glue, a frame is provided within the space of which a cover is provided.
The purpose of this is that the aforementioned cover sheet can be removed in a simple manner, whereafter a document to be protected is placed on the aforementioned layer of glue, within the aforementioned frame, whereby it is obtained that such a document is perfectly perfectly positioned in the right place.
With the insight to better demonstrate the characteristics of the present invention, a preferred embodiment of a plasticizing sheet according to the invention is described below as an example without any limiting character, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
figure 1 represents a plasticizing sheet according to the invention in perspective; figure 2 represents a cross-section on a larger scale according to line II-II in figure 1; figure 3 represents a section similar to that of figure 2, but after the cover sheet has been removed and a document to be protected has been applied; figure 4 represents a variant of the plastic sheet according to figure 1.
A plasticizing sheet 1 according to the invention, as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, consists essentially of a base 2 which is provided with an adhesive layer 3 on at least one side, wherein on this adhesive layer 3 a frame 4 is provided within which a cover sheet 5 is applied.
Both the base 2 and the adhesive layer 3 will normally be realized in a transparent material.
To apply a document on such a base 2, it is sufficient to remove the cover sheet 5 and then to apply a document 6 to the adhesive layer 3 within the frame 4.
When such document 6 has specific dimensions corresponding to the inner dimensions of the aforementioned frame 4, it is clear that the application of such document 5 is very simple, since it is simply placed inside the frame 4 to bring it into contact with the adhesive layer. 3, all such that the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
side edges of the aforementioned document 6 are always automatically parallel with the peripheral edges of the base 2.
Although such a plasticizing sheet in its most appropriate form is rectangular, it is clear that either the entire sheet or the inner edge of the frame 4 can have any shape corresponding to the shape of a document 6 to be protected.
The variant of Figure 4 differs substantially from the embodiment of Figure 1 in that the cover sheet 5 is of two-part design in the form of an actual cover sheet 7 and a narrow deduction strip 8.
An advantage of this variant is that, before applying the document 6 to be protected, it is first possible to remove the narrow subtraction strip 8, so that the document 6 can be positioned more easily at the right place, after which, subsequently, for the definitive application of the document 6 document 6, the actual cover sheet 7 is removed.
It is clear that the present invention is by no means limited to the embodiment described by way of example and represented in the drawings, but a plasticizing sheet according to the invention can be realized in all shapes and sizes without departing from the scope of the invention.
