<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Title of the invention: THE HOLLOW WALL-BLOCK Foreword: The invention described below is an innovative evolution of a material patented by us in 1991 (pub n. 1002834A6, deposit n ° 8900169-internat class. E02D E04G issued June 25, 1991).
Technical field to which the invention relates The invention relates to the prefabrication of retaining walls, reinforced or not, made of concrete or embellished with rubble stone facing.
It consists of the construction in molds having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, of large hollow concrete blocks, whose length AB is 2 meters, the width CD is 1 meter and the thickness BC is 50 centimeters ( figure 1).
The blocks include two truncated pyramid-shaped recesses with average dimensions of 80 cm X 16 cm X 50 cm (Figures 2 and 3) and a facing in smooth concrete or in masonry stones on the anterior side F and sometimes on one or two others sides of the blocks. They are provided with two handling rings sealed in the mass of the block on one of the two long sides.
Relevant state of the art and its assessment: Given the increasingly short periods of time allowed for carrying out works and the techniques for building traditional high-resistance walls such as reinforced walls (concrete wall + facing), the blocks formwork + facing, the usual technique consists in the construction of a wall according to the traditional method, which poses problems of complexity of execution and duration of realization.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The traditional technique consists in the realization of a reinforced concrete veil, in front of which one masons on the visible face of rubble stones which will have to be fixed to the concrete veil using hooks in the course of realization.
This way of proceeding multiplies the stages, some of which are quite complex, notably the formwork and reinforcement which require very qualified personnel.
This technique requires very long lead times on site.
The second technique (formwork blocks) must also be carried out in several stages: manual placement of small hollow blocks, reinforcement as the lifting progresses, concreting the hollows and masonry finishing with rubble stone. The disadvantages here are the multiplication of the stages and mainly the manual stages during which heavy loads must be handled by the workers.
. Advantage provided by the invention The aim of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks inherent in the various existing techniques which are mainly: the multiplication of the stages, the length of execution of these works, the labor on large site, the handling heavy loads and the use of hooks to tie the facing with the concrete wall or the formwork blocks.
Description of a way of carrying out: After the realization of a reinforced footing of foundation and provided with bars of waiting (which are function of the calculation note of the wall), the elements called BLOCS-MUR CREUX, manufactured before the realization of the wall, are strung on the waiting bars and masonry in mortar, then repointed. The elements thus placed (in

staggered) form the formwork in which all that remains is to pour the concrete for sealing the reinforcements, the stones being sealed in the blocks during prefabrication. The HOLLOW WALL BLOCKS being sealed together by poured concrete and vibrated in the hollows around the reinforcements, the whole thus forming a monoblock.
This new technique: eliminates the formwork stage, considerably reduces the complexity of reinforcement, eliminates the stages of on-site masonry and heavy manual handling as well as the problem of anchoring hooks for facing masonry. The production time to obtain a structure of increased strength is thus significantly reduced.
The advantage of speed of execution is particularly appreciable when building walls along roads or along streams subject to rapid flooding. It is particularly simple to implement.
The invention is set out below using sketches.
