<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Thus, according to one embodiment of the invention, the selection means may comprise (-) a system of drums either electromechanical or with display on the screen, in particular three drums, of random rotation and bearing symbols on their periphery, and ( -) means for detecting the symbol of each of the drums, appearing stationary in front of a window after a random rotation.
The means for allocating said premium are then arranged to calculate the latter as a function of the symbol, of each drum, stopped simultaneously in front of the window and / or the number of same symbols stopped together in front of the window.
To make the spectator more interested in the game or sport of skill, the device of the invention may include, at its disposal: (-) first selection means, for selecting the player or players whose score he takes in consideration, (-) second selection means for selecting and recording a determined score, minimum if applicable, that he wishes to be reached or exceeded by the or each player, (-) means for depositing an amount invested to set his selections, (-) means of calculating a bonus for the spectator, in particular according to the amount invested and / or the score or scores achieved by the player (s), and (-) means of attributing the bounty.
The present invention also relates to a game or sport method, in particular skill, to be practiced by one or more players, such as a bowling game, in the presence of at least one spectator, in particular for an implementation with the above device of the invention.
To this end, according to the invention, provision is made for (-) monitoring a score achieved by at least one player during a game, (-) detecting that a determined score is reached by the player , (-) upon obtaining by the player of the determined score, a triggering of a selection process of a bonus to be attributed to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
player and / or spectator, and (-) an allocation of said bonus to whom it may concern.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the secondary claims and from the description of the drawing which is annexed to this specification and which schematically illustrates, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of the game device according to the invention, showing the means necessary for implementing the method of the invention.
The game device 1 or sport of the invention is to be practiced by one or more players. It can be not only a 1A bowling game but also a dart game, a pool game, etc. In fact, various games or sports can be considered, especially when the sport of skill has a target or goal.
According to the invention, the device 1 comprises, basically, means 2 for monitoring a score achieved by at least one player during a game. These monitoring means 2 may include a set of sensors 2a and a counter 2b of points obtained. In bowling for example, it can be sensors 2a detecting the number of bowling pins dropped. In other games or sports, it can be sensors detecting a number of objects entering or reaching a target, possibly taking into account, by an adequate system, that the score must be obtained during a period of fixed time.
Connected to the monitoring means 2, comparison means 3 are arranged to detect that a determined score has been reached by the player and to emit a corresponding signal. The aforementioned counter 2b, if it is of the preselection type, can also fulfill this comparison function.
Selection means 4, connected to the comparison means 3 for receiving the corresponding signal, are designed to carry out, on receipt of said signal, a selection process, explained
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
below, a bonus to be awarded to the player and / or the spectator.
Means 5 for allocating said bonus to whom it may concern are connected to selection means 4. It may for example be a printer which issues a ticket giving the amount of the bonus awarded, or indicating the object of said premium, or of a distributor of tickets with predetermined amounts or of tokens or of currency or of a means of display with an attendant responsible for giving said premium.
Means 6, for example of the microprocessor type, are provided for managing the various aforementioned means 2 to 5 of the device 1 of the invention.
The selection means 4 may advantageously include a system of drums 9 with random rotation, either electromechanical or computerized with display on screen, in particular the three drums 9 known from the jackpot game of chance system and bearing symbols on their periphery. In this case, means 10 are provided for detecting the symbol of each of the drums 9 appearing stationary in front of a window after a random rotation.
The selection means 4 are then arranged to determine said premium as a function of the symbol, of each drum 9, stopped simultaneously in front of the window and / or of the number of same symbols stopped together in front of said window.
The device 1 of the invention may comprise, at the disposal of the spectator and functionally connected to the management means 6, first selection means 11, to enable him to select the player or players whose score he wishes to take into consideration, and second selection means 12 for selecting and recording a determined score which he wishes to be reached or exceeded by the or each player.
The device 1 then further comprises, also functionally connected to the management means 6, means 13 for depositing an amount invested by the spectator to fix his selections, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
means 14 for calculating a premium for the spectator, in particular according to the amount invested and! or the score (s) achieved by the player (s), and the means for allocating the bonus which, if applicable, may be the same as those mentioned above under reference number 5.
The depositing means 13 may include a device intended to receive money or tokens or even a smart card called an electronic purse.
The selection means 11 and 12 and the depositing means 13 may however include a keyboard for entering the corresponding selection data as well as the bet deposited by the spectator.
A description of the process of the invention will help those skilled in the art to understand the device 1 of the invention and the functions of each of its components.
Under the management of the means 6, the aforementioned sensors 2a and the counter 2b of the monitoring means 2 record a score achieved by at least one player during a game. When the preselection counter 2a, 3 detects that a determined score has been reached by the player, it sends a signal to the selection means 4 to trigger a process for selecting a bonus to be awarded to the player and / or the spectator. As soon as the selection is made, the means 4 send the allocation means 5 an adequate signal so that they provide or indicate to the player the bonus to which he is entitled.
The premium selection process carried out by the selection means 4 is advantageously of the random type, as already explained. This random process can consist of a rotation of the three aforementioned drums 9. When they stop, a symbol of each in front of a window, the selection means 4 determine, in a manner known in the jackpots, the bonus to be allocated according to
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the type of symbol appearing in the window and! or the number of same symbols appearing together in the window. A corresponding signal is then sent for this purpose by the selection means 4 to the allocation means 5.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to these without departing from the scope of the claims.
Advantageously, the method of the invention also provides for a spectator, in order to interest him more in the game or sport, the possibility of also being able to gain from it.
To this end, the spectator can select, using the first selection means 11, one or more players whose score he takes into consideration and, using the second selection means 12, a determined score which he wish to see reached or exceeded by the or each player. By the means of deposit 13, the spectator then commits an amount to fix his selections, and, if the player or each player chosen has reached or exceeded the score determined by the spectator, the calculation means 14 determine a bonus for the spectator, especially depending on the amount he deposited and! or the score (s) achieved by the player (s) and a rule which instructs the players and spectators.
