RESTAURATIE EN VERSTERKING VAN
GRONDKERENDE CONSTRUCTIES
<EMI ID=1.1>

RESTORATION AND REINFORCEMENT OF
GROUNDING CONSTRUCTIONS
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The object of the invention is to restore and strengthen existing earth-retaining structures in such a way that they can perform not only their function for which they were originally designed, but also that they can withstand greater load
requirements can be met. The greater load requirements can be, for example: a greater height of the earth deflector, a larger top load, greater horizontal forces and the like. This list of examples is not exhaustive. The existing earth retaining structures can both
above and under water, for example retaining walls along roads or quay walls. The existing earth barriers can be built from steel or concrete. The invention consists of arranging elements for the existing earth retaining structure, so that the reinforced earth retaining structure meets the
newly imposed tax requirements. New supports will be placed in the ground before the existing earth barrier. A jacking system is installed between the existing construction and these supports, which introduces a force between them. This force, "biasing force", is
so determined that, due to the new loads and / or changed boundary conditions, the earth-retaining structure can offer the necessary resistance.
Features of the invention
The application of this invention can be fully realized without demolition or decommissioning of the existing earth retaining structure. The invention allows extension according to the specific requirements and
characteristics of the earth retaining structure. For example, a soil-tight building element can be placed in front of the existing earth-retaining structure, so that the soil density of the construction is also guaranteed. These soil-tight building elements are also used with the prestressing system throughout
ground barrier fixed. The specific features and parts of the invention are:
Installation of a support point in the substrate Introduction of a pre-tensioning force
Pre-waterproofing precast element depending on the condition of the existing quay wall.
Applications and examples Figures 1 & 2
Application of the invention at a quay wall (1) where, due to natural erosion, the bottom of the river has gradually been lowered, with instability of the quay wall at long
term as a direct consequence. For the quay wall, profiles (2) are driven with sheet piles (3) in between. A concrete beam (4) is cast in front of the toe of the quay wall. The jacks (5) are placed between the profiles and the concrete beam. The preload force is introduced with the jacks,
so that the movements of the quay wall remain controlled in the future.
Figures 3 & 4
Application of the invention where a quay wall was deepened to allow larger ships. For the existing quay wall
(6) a vertical wall is made up consisting of tube piles (7) e sheet piles (8). A concrete beam (9) is installed with jacks between the dividing wall and the quay wall
(10). A preload force is introduced with the augers, which corresponds to the additional reaction force applied to the
toe of the quay wall would arise when deepening the dock. No movements will then occur during the actual deepening.
Figure 5
Example of an application at a retaining wall next to a road. The road (11) is lowered or an additional top load (12) is installed behind the retaining wall. Profiles (13) are driven into the ground at the toe of the retaining wall. Between
a concrete beam (14) with jacks (15) is placed on the retaining wall and the profiles. In certain applications, in addition to the stability problem of the existing earth barrier, a problem of soil density is also present. In this situation, the basic idea of the invention remains applicable, provided that additional soil-tight building elements are used.
Figure 6
Application for a quay wall consisting of concrete sheet piles
(16). The new load arises due to the deepening of the dock and greater top load on it
quay platform. In addition, the soil density of the joints between the sheet piles is restored. The new supports consist of steel profiles (17) that are driven into the ground
<EMI ID = 2.1>
elements (18) placed in front of the wall. Between the profiles
and the precast elements are the jacking system (19) which introduces the prestressing force. Before the depression is realized, the augers provide a pre-tensioning force corresponding to the extra force that will come on the supports at the depression. When deepening
consequently, no movements occur in the old quay wall.
Figures 7 & 8
Example of an application where the general stability was no longer sufficient due to the transition from a constant water level at level + 4.70 m to a tide-dependent level between - 1 m and + 5 m. The quay wall consists of concrete
sheet piles (20) with a concrete buckle (21). The concrete elements (22) and steel profiles are placed in front of the quay wall
(23) driven into the soil. The mortars are placed between the two
(24) and the pretensioning force is introduced.
