<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

NO.
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
du grand réservoir d'eau, d'un détecteur de vitesse de moteur 64, d'un détecteur de température d'enve- loppe d'eau de moteur 62, d'un détecteur de vitesse de moteur 64, d'un circuit de réglage de température de moteur E et d'un circuit de réglage et de régula- tion de vitesse de moteur F ; (b) une CPU I, qui reçoit l'information de l'ouverture d'entrée L, réalise un programme de commande J suivant le contenu d'une banque de données K de manière à réaliser un jugement logique avant l'envoi d'une instruction de commande ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Auxiliary water supply for internal combustion engine".
The present invention relates to an auxiliary water supply system for an internal combustion engine and, in particular, to an auxiliary water supply system for a petrol internal combustion engine.
Air normally contains about 20% oxygen and 80% nitrogen. If an engine could have complete combustion, the gas escaping from the engine would be completely converted to water (hydrogen oxide, HO) and carbon dioxide (C02); however, the combustion-
EMI1.1
ion in an engine is usually incomplete combustion, that is, the gasoline vapor in an engine cannot be completely converted to CO2 er.
H2O; gas escaping from an engine usually contains CO and HC; CO is a poisonous gas, which can cause the death of a person. Combustion in an engine usually takes place at a high temperature, and therefore the escaping burnt gas contains
EMI1.2
usually nitrogen oxide (NOJ, which usually converts to photochemical smoke.
Briefly, what are called pollution residues, such as CO, HC and NOx, not only are harmful to human health but also are harmful to the environment; therefore, every government in the world has tried to reduce the density of pollution residues from self-driving vehicles.
Usually, there are three methods to control recurrences escaping from a motor vehicle.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
bile, i.e. (1) a crankcase emission control system, (2) an evaporation emission control system and (3) a release emission control system. The present invention aims to improve the combustion conditions of the usual engine system so as to reduce the density of pollution residues escaping therefrom; the theory of the present invention is described in detail in the following paragraphs.
Referring to Figure 1, this shows the relationship between the forward speed of a typical vehicle and the air / fuel ratio.
When starting a vehicle, its gas vapors are low because the initial temperature is low. As a result, its engine requires a lower air / fuel ratio (that is, gasoline must have a higher fuel supply). However, the combustion efficiency in the cylinder is not good and a large amount of CO and HC will be removed. When a vehicle is traveling at medium speed (20 km / hour to 113 km / hour), the engine has better combustion efficiency; then the amount of CO and HC escaping will be reduced.
When the engine is running at high speed, the engine requires a higher air / fuel ratio; at this time, the engine has a higher temperature and, therefore, is prone to have an ignition rattle or detonations and, therefore, a greater amount of NOx will escape.
In order to reduce the density of pollution residues, such as HC, CO and NOXO, the inventor considers that the ignition device can be improved by reducing the engine temperature, by increasing the contact area of the vapor. gasoline so as to improve combustion efficiency and by increasing the oxygen supply or by improving the ignition time. According to the present invention, the improvement is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
achieved by improving the contact area of gasoline vapor, increasing the oxygen supply and reducing the combustion temperature of the engine. The technical process for obtaining the above-mentioned results will be described in the following paragraphs.
In general, a motor vehicle driving in a dry area, such as a desert, will consume more gas, on the contrary, a motor vehicle driving in a wet area, such as a coastal area, will consume less gas. . In other words, humidity or water vapor will influence the combustion efficiency of an engine because the density of gasoline is different from that of water, i.e. the density of the essence is less than that of water and, therefore, they cannot be combined together. Before vaporized gasoline and water enter the combustion chamber, gasoline vapor particles with low density are attached to the surface of the water particles.
After the water particles enter the cylinder, the water particles will expand under the high temperature and high pressure and the gasoline particles attached to the water particles will divide or become smaller, that is, the contact area between gasoline and air will be increased (i.e., the mixing efficiency will be increased). The oxygen in the water will increase. the combustion effect to give complete combustion. In other words, the engine power will be increased and at the same time a fuel economy will be obtained and the carbon deposits in the cylinder will be reduced; therefore, the engine run time will be increased while reducing its maintenance cost; the HC and CO evacuated will also be reduced.
Since water can lower the engine temperature, the NO, discharged will be reduced and
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
in this way the residues removed will have a less harmful impact on the environment.
The auxiliary water supply system for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention is developed and designed in accordance with the above theory and the characteristics of the gasoline engine. When the engine is running at high speed or high temperature, an appropriate amount of water can be added to it to increase the combustion efficiency and reduce the exhausted HC, CO and NOx.
In order to further increase the combustion efficiency of an engine, the present invention uses a continuous ignition method, that is to say that several cyclic auxiliary ignition pulses are introduced between two initial ignition pulses. so as to increase the combustion efficiency of the engine (in particular when the engine is started cold) and to reduce the exhausted HC and CO.
In addition, the present invention has another advantage, that is to say that the present invention can be installed in a simple manner in a motor vehicle which has been taken out of the factory so as to improve its combustion efficiency. and to reduce the HC, CO and NO evacuated. Other advantages of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in the following paragraphs.
- The main object of the present invention is to provide a system for an internal combustion engine so as to improve the combustion efficiency of the engine and to reduce the density of pollution residues discharged from it.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary water supply system for an internal combustion engine, which can be installed in a motor vehicle already out of the factory so as to improve the combustion efficiency of the engine and to
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
reduce the density of pollution residues escaping from it.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an ignition method, which can provide a series of cyclic auxiliary ignition pulses between two initial ignition pulses so as to increase the combustion efficiency of an engine and to reduce the pollution residues escaping from it.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description below, given by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

Referring to FIG. 2, it illustrates an auxiliary water supply system for an internal combustion engine according to the present

invention. An auxiliary water supply system 10 of an internal combustion engine and a gasoline engine 100 are assembled. The engine can be of any type. The auxiliary water supply system 10 comprises a water supply device comprising a small water tank 14, the water of which is supplied from a large water tank 12. A small tank detector 30 is arranged in the small water tank 14. As soon as the water in the small water tank 14 is lower than a given level, a water pump 32 will be started to pump the water from the large water tank 12 to the small water tank 14.
The small water tank 14 is connected to a water pipe 16, in which a control valve 18 such as a solenoid valve is arranged. The control valve 18 is controlled by a relay 40 which is controlled by a control unit 50. The unit 50 will be described in detail in the following paragraph. The water hose 16 is also provided with a manual water regulator 20 for controlling the flow of water. One end of the water hose 16 is connected to a three-way connector 22, the second end of which is connected to an exhaust manifold; the third end of the three-way connector 22 is connected to an EGR (exhaust gas circulation) device 24, which is connected to the petrol engine 100.
The objective of using the EGR device is to lower the exhaust volume of. NO. Water can circulate through the EGR device 24 and enter the petrol engine 100 simultaneously with part of the exhaust gases so as to increase the combustion efficiency of the engine, while reducing the density of pollution residues (c (i.e. CO, HC and NOx).
Referring to Figure 3, the control unit 50 includes: (a) an inlet opening L, which can receive signals from a water level detector 60
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
large water tank, an engine speed sensor 64, an engine water envelope temperature sensor 62, an engine speed sensor 64, a circuit regulation of engine temperature E and of a circuit for regulating and regulating engine speed F; (b) a CPU I, which receives the information of the input opening L, carries out a control program J according to the content of a database K so as to carry out a logical judgment before sending an order instruction;
(c) an output opening M, which receives the instructions from the CPU I and converts the instructions into an electrical signal to control a relay 40 and a pulse generator 42. The relay 40 can send an electrical signal to the control valve
18, such as a solenoid valve; the control valve controls the flow of water through the water pipe 16 so that there is an adequate amount of water flowing into the EGR device
24. An electrical signal from the pulse generator
42 will be sent to an amplifier circuit 44, which is connected to the high voltage coil of a spark plug.
As shown in Figures 5A and 5B, the pulse generator 42 can add additional ignition pulses between two ignition pulses of a conventional spark plug so as to increase the combustion efficiency of the engine and reduce the density of pollution residues evacuated.
Referring to Figure 4, there is shown an operating diagram of the control unit 50 of Figure 3 when the CPU I of the control unit 50 detects the following conditions of detectors; CPU I will send an electrical signal to activate relay 40 by opening the control valve
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
18 so that the water flows into the small water tank 14 and enters the EGR device 24 so that there is simultaneously water and exhaust gases entering the cylinder.
(a) The water level detector 60 detects the water level of the large water tank when it is greater than a preset value; (b) the water jacket temperature detector 62 detects the engine temperature when it is higher than a preset engine temperature; and (c) the engine speed detector 64 detects the engine speed when it is higher than a preset value.
The aforementioned preset values of water level, engine temperature and engine speed depend on the motor vehicle model and engine displacement and these data are stored in the aforementioned database K.
The auxiliary water supply system of the present invention may also include a linear control valve, which can appropriately control the opening size of the valve according to the engine temperature and the engine speed in a manner to bring an appropriate quantity of water to the EGR device and. increase the combustion efficiency of the engine and reduce the density of pollution residues.
