<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The present invention relates to an assembly of a slotted element and a connecting pin as well as a method of assembling these two elements together.
A particular application of the invention is the assembly of a glued laminated beam and a metal connecting stud secured to a structural element.
The invention is however applicable to other elements.
The classic assembly of a mortise element and a connecting stud is done using a bolt which secures the connecting stud to the beam. This bolted connection has the disadvantage of not offering satisfactory mounting flexibility. Indeed, it is necessary to drill the beam on the site to pass the bolt which must pass through an opening in the tenon. An adjustment of the post in the mortise is generally necessary to align the opening of the post in the axis of the drilling machine because of manufacturing tolerances and uncertainties as to the actual lengths of the elements to be assembled.
This inevitably results in technical imperfections and a large workforce. In addition, the bolted connection offers only very low shear strength.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The invention aims to simplify assembly in order to be able to do without drilling on site. This object is achieved thanks to the invention by an assembly as described in claims 1 to 4.
More particularly, in accordance with the invention, the assembly of a mortised element and at least one connecting stud comprises at least one pin passing through the mortised element in a direction perpendicular to the connecting stud, said pin being linked to the tenon. of connection by a sealing mass coating at least part of the connecting stud.
The sealing compound is contained in a cavity delimited in the mortise. This sealing mass crosses a reservation made in the connecting post and thus ensures mechanical continuity between the spindle, the connecting post and the beam. It is injected into the cavity in fluid form and transforms into a solid sealing mass after hardening.
The invention also provides a method of producing the assembly according to the invention, as described in claims 5 to 10.
The assembly according to the invention allows easy and rapid assembly thanks to the fact that the mortised beam can be prefabricated with a hole to receive a pin intended for the injection of a sealing product. It is executed by simple assembly with an injection of a hardenable product without on-site machining operation.
In addition, the assembly according to the invention allows sufficient play to achieve correctly and easily.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the adjustment of the elements during their installation and it ensures very high rigidity to the bond after hardening of the sealant. The choice of the product injected in fluid form is decisive, in particular its viscosity to ensure its correct and homogeneous positioning in the cavity and its mechanical resistance after hardening to ensure the final resistance in order to take up the admissible load. The invention also makes it possible to produce an assembly which, in comparison with the conventional bolted connection, offers a significantly higher shear strength, a very low deformation and an equally much higher service resistance.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the description which follows, accompanied by the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a sectional view along line 1-1 of Figure 2, illustrating an example of assembly according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section along line II-II of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown an end of a beam 11 having a mortise 13 and a connecting pin 12, for example a metal plate, secured to another element not shown. The connecting pin 12 is housed in the mortise 13 during the establishment of the assembly.
According to the invention, the beam 11 is previously pierced with a hole 15 and the connecting stud 12 is pierced with a reservation 14 having a diameter greater than that of the hole in the beam 11. The dimensions of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
servation 14 must allow the positioning inaccuracies of the assembly elements to be taken up.
The assembly is done by introducing into the hole of the beam a pin 17 having an axial injection channel 18 on which are connected lateral channels 19 which open to the outside at the level of the reservation 14 of the stud 12. In a example of embodiment, a spindle of 20 mm in diameter is machined with injection channels of approximately 6 mm in diameter.
Using any injection device (not shown) connected to the injection channel 18 of the spindle 17, a fluid sealant is injected under low pressure into the cavity surrounding the reservation 14 of the post. This cavity is advantageously delimited by sealing means 16 fixed on the two faces of the post 12 and having a diameter greater than that of the reservation 14. These sealing means are intended to prevent the fluid product from spreading under the effect of pressure and gravity.
After hardening, the injected product forms a sealing mass 20 which stiffens the assembly while ensuring mechanical continuity between the spindle, the tenon and the beam. The solidified sealing mass creates the area where all the stresses in the assembly are concentrated. This sealing mass must take up all the admissible load and have high adhesion characteristics with the faces of the spindle, the mortise and the tenon. The choice of sealing product is therefore essential: it must have a satisfactory fluidity to fill as perfectly as possible the cavity delimited in the mortise, good adhesion to the surfaces of the spindle, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
no and mortise, and have high mechanical strength after hardening.
A product which has proved satisfactory during tests with a glued laminated beam is for example the product marketed under the name SIKADUR 31 by the company SIKA. It is a thixotropic solvent-free epoxy adhesive that hardens without shrinkage and quickly provides compressive strength of the order of 70-90 N / mm2.
Tests have shown that it is the sealing mass which takes up all of the load in the form of a shear force. It has been found, in fact, that the sealing mass which was initially intended to take up the compressive forces, is unexpectedly in fact stressed in shear, which has the advantageous effect of producing only very small deformations. With the SIKADUR 31 adhesive, the sealing mass accepted an ultimate state of compression of the order of 140 N / mm2 for a load of 22 KN.
Compared to a conventional bolted connection, this sealed connection according to the invention makes it possible to take up a very good ultimate load with small deformations and a very higher service resistance (25 KN compared to 17 KN).
The sealed assembly according to the invention can be carried out quickly, without machining on site and without heavy equipment. It allows a large possibility of adjustment and backlash in order to correctly carry out the adjustment of a beam on its metal support.
Although the assembly example described in the foregoing
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
yields and illustrated in the drawings has only one connecting stud, it is understood that the assembly according to the invention may include several. Similarly, it is obvious that in reality the assembly may include several pins to increase the rigidity of the assembly, increase its resistance and allow the resumption of bending moments.
